A metronome is invaluable. And I know playing slow is fruatrsting when you want play fast. But just a bit of practice everyday is enough to make progress.

This is a great approach to playing faster. I will include it in my daily practice.

Hey Liam. Terrific video and info. Video really looks great with the new camera. So, in response to your question about other's approaches : Something that really rang a bell for me, and this is after I had learned my way around the harp in terms of accuracy a little bit, is a comment Jason Ricci said in one of his videos on playing fast, and this might not be a perfect quote : " If you want to learn how to play fast, you have to know where your going before you get there ". So that told me to practice, practice, practice something in small bits till it's committed to memory . Then do the same with the next portion of the material/song/riff being learned. In time I found my speed and accuracy picking up.
Also, keeping in mind, practicing the material while being aware of one's breathing patterns and timing. I learned in Lee Sankey's courses that the repeated patterns of inhaling and exhaling to maintain a good balance of air is important for many reason , but this has also helped to improve my playing speed. I think Lee Sankey calls this approach and skill " Rhythmic Breathing ".
Lastly, I do have your premium lessons such as " Playing fast: 20 top licks............; 20 top turnaround licks, 10 draw bending practice licks, and what you say in this video, plus these lessons, and the above techniques and practice, practice, all have really made an improvement on my harmonica learning skills/speed. For example if while practicing your 20 top licks, I'll often add in a blow chord so I can continue the riff longer, or use tongue slaps while playing the riff, or change the timing of my breathing on a note to add more variation to the riff pattern, for lack of a better explanation. then before too long I'm gaining the ability to play 2 or 3 of the licks in a row. Practice; practice; practice. Hope this long winded approach and info helps somebody. Happy Harping to every one.

@@Learntheharmonica Thanks Liam. Also, I gotta give credit to you and your outstanding " Premium Lessons ". Whether it's practice licks or songs, I just follow the instruction videos that come with the lessons. Before long and with practice my speed improves and I can play a new tune. 2nd to this is slowly practicing old timey jigs and reels. Although, I guess this is all secondary to the great information your providing in this video.

very useful, as the 4 draw is more available to me. I was able to get fairly competent in a short while and then I added on some inrpov.

Hey there quick question on this loop I'm having trouble distinguishing a clean transition between the 4 draw bend back up into the 4 draw and having it sound like 2 separate clean notes. it's been holding me back from a few practice techniques . When I play a draw note followed by bending that same note right after... How do I split them up.. and have them not sound like the same 2 beat note.
Sorry I hope I worded that clear enough...
Thanks for all the GREAT content Liam.
    your a legend 🙏

Hey Bryan, so I think I know what you're asking about... First you need to be able to hit the bent note without bending down to it (i.e. hitting it straight off the bat). Then in order to make them obviously two different notes, it helps to articulate them. Basically this means using your tongue to make the shape you would use to make the sound "K", "T", or "L" so that you're stopping the air between the two notes.
