    Hi William V look like your pump A electrical one. The one in this video is mechanical. It's on the same side of the engine and if you follow the vacuum hose from the brake booster over to it you will find it. Looks like it's even easier to do in the one in this video. Hope it helps thank you for watching.

    Hello Brian....having an issue with my wifes 2002 S80 was told it was the brake vacuum pump. I watched this video and wondered if this is similar to what would be required for my wife's Volvo??

      I believe I have an issue with the vacuum pump on my XC90. I know it can be very expensive to take it to the dealer, oil change was almost 100 bucks, my question is, should I take it to the dealer or do it myself, I'm not a mechanic but I think I can do it if I can get the part to rebuilt the pump.

      It's not to tough of a job. I got the parts from my local dealer. I wish you luck. let me know if I can help.

    Any idea what the torque specs are for the two 10 mm bolts?

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mathew. I do not have the specs on the 10 mm bolts. Sometimes specs can be hard to come bye. Even with Mitchell and AllData services. With small bolts I like to use 1/4 inch ratchet and do it by feel. If I had to guess it would be 10 or 11 foot pounds. Hope this helps. Thank you for writing to me and watching.

      I know this comment was posted years ago but for those browsing the comments, it's 17Nm or 12.5lb-ft, taken from the service manual

      On Volvos there are two different types of vacuum pumps. One is mechanical that's the one you see in this video. The engine drives the pump. And on some models it has an electric vacuum pump. Thank you for watching my videos hope it helps out.

      +andreiman2008 hi i'd love to help you but I'm not sure what you're asking. If you're asking if your pump is mechanical or or electric. I wouldn't need to know what year make model and engine size of the car is.
