True! I remeber using Adrenaline software and thing is. I allowed Windows to download drivers automatically through internet and it downloaded without adrenaline! Thing is that I compared FPS with Adrenaline and without in some games. Battlefield 1 with Adrenaline barely held 50 on Ultra while without it clearly allowed to go beyond 90! Didn't liked Adrenaline when I have same stuff on my PC. Don't know why Adrenaline is so bad.

I just bought a 6400 and you are not kidding! I have random black screens that go in and out. Weird refresh rate issues (im guessing freesync....) Im missing Nvidia. I'm wondering if i should just return it. I'm also having issues with emulators

Games continuously crashed and I thought it was my new aoc 165hz monitor. I was depressed for weeks. Removing adrenaline was fix for all my problems. I never had a crash since. Thank you.
I like the software but I do see a possible issue it can cause, being so feature rich. What's worse is they never allow the option to not install with it.

I am not sure if this was mentioned but this is a fantastic fix for the 5700 Xt, But without adrenaline there is no way to control the fans and the card will get hot you but use MSI after burner to to make sure your driver is correct and set to fan profiles. are you using the most actual drivers or older ones? i have an rx570 8b and with older drivers runs better, still crashing a lot but less, im using the 20.11.2 version drivers

My HDD died and so I had to use an old version of windows that was incompatible with amd adrenalin and this video helped me get the drivers anyway and now I can finally see my screen!!!!

When I go to browse for drivers on my PC after pressing cancel, I paste the address in to find the driver but it says the latest drivers are already installed even though I 100% uninstalled all of them including the radeon software, can anyone help?
For such situation you can try the a) use DDU www.wagnardsoft.com/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu- OR b) use AMD Cleanup Utility www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601 After doing both of the above, try to install again.

There is a option under advance options to select install “driver only” idk if it was there for you when this video was created. But it’s there as of today when I was following this guide. I had to do driver only install because the software was causing issues with ryzen master for me
GPU broke this year RIP and i had problem with a display issue even on bios with a clean wipe of former drivers and this helped me installing updated drivers without me trying to remove Adrenaline, i have no idea why i keep losing my display so thank you

Lol I had the same issue. Right click on ur graphics card (or whatever else pops up under display adapters) and go to properties. Then on the second tab, hit uninstall, and when the next window pops up, check yes. Then do this process

Assuming your Windows OS is fully updated, what you can do is try uninstall that adapter (right click, uninstall device) and then after that ask it to look for the Radeon driver by specifying the folder.

They now include a driver only listing that doesn’t even work. I selected the option for just the driver only and it still installed the software. But thank you this video helped.
For me, when i chose driver only, it only install driver only, have you use ddu to clean uninstall your display driver before reinstalling the amd driver?

@@goldfries I did not have any issue with drivers above 18.X I think. I have a r9 280x (7970), sometimes by having a newer driver you get better performance and stability. I never liked AMD's bloatware though since i need none of the features. It is a shame that sometimes a driver can do as much as brick a graphics card...
Just got a 6700 XT, just a day later uninstalled adrenaline using this and going back to just using afterburner. It was being weird with the steam shift tab overlay
Spent almost 3 hours now trying to install the AMD driver. Errors alternate back and forth between 192 error (OS error) and 1603 (general error). Used AMD cleanup utility and DDU. Restarted in Safe Mode. Cleaned up again. One version I get drivers aren't signed error. Then with new version 20.4.2 I get "can't find .inf" file. Reason I upgraded from version 19.9.2 was due to system shutdown when light gaming (750 Watt Antec PS, BTW). Ran SFC and all files are good. Couldn't get DISM to work. Now I can't install the old or the newest version. AMD software is the biggest POS on the planet. Edit - Tried with your method and now got "access is denied" error. Going to try rebooting into safe mode and see if that helps. Got it to work with your help. Thanks dude! :) Can't control fans or overclock with this method. Also, this is hit or miss. I tried to update the driver from standard VGA to radeon and it says the most up to date driver is installed.
Thanks for this, brand new computer and the installer for amd adrenaline 2020 just continuously fails, despite having followed every solution I could find. At least now I can finally use my 5700 :)

@@Osmose_42 To be honest I had restart issues (didn't have the green screen crashes though) but updating to the newest driver has remedied the issue for me. The system has been solid for a good couple of weeks now. Hope you remedy your issue, I know how frustrating it can be, AMD do really need to get their crap together with driver software.

i have problems installing my driver of AMD 3400G (i was upgrading my 200ge to 3400g). it is asrock a320m hdv r 4.0, V Gen 8gb 3200mhz (sk hynix), 400 watt power supply. I keep getting black screen when AMD Driver Adapter installation about 60% progress, it asked me for restart your device (AMD Crash Defender) and immediately flashy red then black screen, wait for 10 minutes nothing comes up. For now, my current solution is AMD Cleanup Utility through Windows Safe Mode but still having the same problem over and over with different versions. Is your solution would fix my problem? So what is your current Display Adapter is it still the default "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" ?

sheesh! missed the cancel option for adrenalin which has been crashing new system and causing corruption of the drive. Not that I know of, and that's why I had it installed on my work rig. For some reason my screen and AMD driver will auto default to YBCr and the screen turns pink. I had to install Adrenaline software to set it to RGB.
mine only show standard vga graphics adapter, my processor is amd a6 6400k HD. I can't play and the direct X features seems to be broken The DirectDraw Acceleration is Disabled and the D3D and AGP is not available. Can I get any help?

AMD's Adrenalin Software is mostly bloatware, the only thing that should've been included in it are the Tuning(for under/overclocking) and the graphs. Everything else I've seen is basically ads for AMD's other hardware and a built in browser and streaming? The vast majority of users don't need any of that.

Mine is Crimson 20.8.3 Beta Instead of Adrenaline for some reason even though i have Adrenaline installed and Adrenaline doesn't let me update my drivers, it doesn't give me an error...

My entry level Radeon RX 550 on my 2 year old computer checks out alright but 2 weeks ago when trying to bring up the software I got that message : The version of your Radeon software you have launched is not compatible with your graphic driver. A factory reset is recomwended....and so on. I did go to amd and downloaded the driver but was leary on how to install without any problems. It has the auto detect feature but am unsure about the clean install. Thanx in advance if you have any suggestions and keep up the good work. db
Is there a fix that doesn't require you to run the AMD software? That's where my problem lies. When I ren the program it automatically tells me error 182 (legacy driver issue) , and it will close down. I don't even get to the point of being able to cancel it.

Don't go through Windows, run Adrenaline software. Even if you don't go through the above process there's also process for you to repair and such.

PSA: On some GPUs (Pro, Integrated) there is a driver only option in the installer. I am not sure about other GPUs though.
Ryzen has this "feature" but when I click on it, IT STILL INSTALLS THE SOFTWARE! It's annoying AF.

@@goldfries I did not have any issue with drivers above 18.X I think. I have a r9 280x (7970), sometimes by having a newer driver you get better performance and stability. I never liked AMD's bloatware though since i need none of the features. It is a shame that sometimes a driver can do as much as brick a graphics card...

Just got a 6700 XT, just a day later uninstalled adrenaline using this and going back to just using afterburner. It was being weird with the steam shift tab overlay

Spent almost 3 hours now trying to install the AMD driver. Errors alternate back and forth between 192 error (OS error) and 1603 (general error). Used AMD cleanup utility and DDU. Restarted in Safe Mode. Cleaned up again. One version I get drivers aren't signed error. Then with new version 20.4.2 I get "can't find .inf" file. Reason I upgraded from version 19.9.2 was due to system shutdown when light gaming (750 Watt Antec PS, BTW). Ran SFC and all files are good. Couldn't get DISM to work. Now I can't install the old or the newest version. AMD software is the biggest POS on the planet. Edit - Tried with your method and now got "access is denied" error. Going to try rebooting into safe mode and see if that helps. Got it to work with your help. Thanks dude! :)
Can't control fans or overclock with this method. Also, this is hit or miss. I tried to update the driver from standard VGA to radeon and it says the most up to date driver is installed.

Because that's the software you didn't install, you don;t istall the software, amd settings won't be there for right click.

Thanks for this, brand new computer and the installer for amd adrenaline 2020 just continuously fails, despite having followed every solution I could find. At least now I can finally use my 5700 :)

Hey, so how’s it working so far? Got also issues with the 5700. i often get green screen crashes and my computer restarts. Dunno what causes, so I just tried this method. So am wondering how it will turn out 😅 but did you have any troubles so far?
@@Osmose_42 To be honest I had restart issues (didn't have the green screen crashes though) but updating to the newest driver has remedied the issue for me. The system has been solid for a good couple of weeks now. Hope you remedy your issue, I know how frustrating it can be, AMD do really need to get their crap together with driver software.

i have problems installing my driver of AMD 3400G (i was upgrading my 200ge to 3400g). it is asrock a320m hdv r 4.0, V Gen 8gb 3200mhz (sk hynix), 400 watt power supply. I keep getting black screen when AMD Driver Adapter installation about 60% progress, it asked me for restart your device (AMD Crash Defender) and immediately flashy red then black screen, wait for 10 minutes nothing comes up. For now, my current solution is AMD Cleanup Utility through Windows Safe Mode but still having the same problem over and over with different versions. Is your solution would fix my problem? So what is your current Display Adapter is it still the default "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" ?

Driver-only option is now available on Adrenaline.

sheesh! missed the cancel option for adrenalin which has been crashing new system and causing corruption of the drive. Fingers crossed. have been running chrome, doing everything on my phone for years, which is fairly ridiculous. Took the plunge and bought a windows mini, excited, and then remembered all the time spent/wasted monitoring the operation, reading thread after thread. Did driver only install and guess what down from 50-55% memory usage to 34% memory usage. Man it feels snappier now.
Interesting finding, no doubt the Adrenaline software is feature packed but being that also means it will hog some resource.

Not that I know of, and that's why I had it installed on my work rig.
For some reason my screen and AMD driver will auto default to YBCr and the screen turns pink. I had to install Adrenaline software to set it to RGB.

My asus tuf fx505dy came without adrenaline but all the drivers were already installed and it runs amazing, when i installed adrenaline need for speed heat stopped working it was not recognized by adrenaline now i uninstalled adrenaline everything is working great. AMD's Adrenalin Software is mostly bloatware, the only thing that should've been included in it are the Tuning(for under/overclocking) and the graphs. Everything else I've seen is basically ads for AMD's other hardware and a built in browser and streaming? The vast majority of users don't need any of that.
neat technique but when I try this or the direct method to install graphics driver for my rx5500xt, my screenstarts flickering and does not proceed any further.
Mine is Crimson 20.8.3 Beta Instead of Adrenaline for some reason even though i have Adrenaline installed and Adrenaline doesn't let me update my drivers, it doesn't give me an error...

My entry level Radeon RX 550 on my 2 year old computer checks out alright but 2 weeks ago when trying to bring up the software I got that message : The version of your Radeon software you have launched is not compatible with your graphic driver. A factory reset is recomwended....and so on. I did go to amd and downloaded the driver but was leary on how to install without any problems. It has the auto detect feature but am unsure about the clean install. Thanx in advance if you have any suggestions and keep up the good work. db
Is there a fix that doesn't require you to run the AMD software? That's where my problem lies. When I ren the program it automatically tells me error 182 (legacy driver issue) , and it will close down. I don't even get to the point of being able to cancel it.
