me too, love the dark atmosphere of the movie, and the landscape of the island, forests, mountains etc. Really feels like a lost world where dinosaurs rule and the little bit of human construction is all destroyed. I also loved the rich luxury attraction park vacation type of island of isla nublar in the first JP. Both of them are greag
Here’s my personal pitch for why the raptors are so different in JP3: The raptors we usually see in JP content have a very different genetic makeup than actual real life raptors (hence the lack of feathers among other things). And that the raptors in JP3 are one of the experiments conducted in 1999 by Dr. Wu as an attempt to create a more genetically pure variation of velociraptors that are closer to their real life counterparts.
in the books its the other way around the got the most close to real posible, and theres even a scene where hammond and wu discuss it, wu want more tame and easier to handle dinousaurs and tell hammond that is posible but hammond refuses
Your theory fails because Raptors weren't anywhere near as big as they are in jurassic park, if Wu had tried to make them more like what the originals were then he would have had to make them a lot smaller.
I would have loved to see the dinosaurs hunted and captured for the new park prior to jw and how they got all the animals back into containment. But I think a look back into how things got started wouldnbe awesome or even a back story on sorna and all the mishaps where the spino came from
@@VG-913 I want something like that as well. A short film about the amalgam testing would be more than welcome by me. As a matter of fact, while I was listening, I started writing down notes for a short story on the testing. I'd even love to know if Sorna got pillaged for JW. Great thoughts, man.
@@sampletext6673 basicly... - explaining the rivalry between ingen and biosin - the first dinosaur cloned - The partnership with lochwood and Hammond -and the construction of the park But for the JW prequle... Basicly a lost world type movie.. - Masronie Global hunting and capturing the dinos ingen stile.
Well, considering he wrote a second one at Spielberg's request and then they used hardly any of it aside from site b and character names in the movie, I would say he probably wasn't in a hurry to write a 3rd one to help out the movie franchise.
@@archangel1152he was sick of dinosaurs after the lost world unfortunately. But knowing Hollywood they would ignore his books as source material anyway
Loved this convo. One nitpick, in Jurassic World there IS voiceover stating that the T.Rex is from the original park when they are in Rexy's new paddock.
Just a thought from the back of my head. What if in dominion, they kill of most of the escaped dinosaurs... (maybe except some fan favorites like rexy and blue) Because they are a danger to society en they have nowhere to put the captured ones. Soo they sadly kill them. That would give viewers the feeling that thrdinos are dead, and this is the end of the series. But then at the end of the movie (similar to jw's ending) the camera fades into a shot zooming over the ocean to isla sorna, and we see that the island is still maintaining a fully healthy ecosystem with living, breeding dinosaurs and even tho the dinosaurs on the mainland are gone, not ALL dinosaurs are dead. (Throw in maybe a sneek peak shot of the spinosaurus, or the jp3 raptor clan) Sounds really dark to kill them all, but also realistic and fitting to the style and title. Dominion. Only one species can survive. Humans or dinosaurs. And the reveal of Isla Sorna would then show that on that small piece of sanctuary, without human interference, the dinosaurs live on in peace. Safe and isolated from the rest of the world. Would be a great call back to hammonds speech from the lost world. These creatures reaquire our abscence to survive, Not our help. And of we could only, step aside. And trust in nature... LIFE... WILL FIND A WAY
I think its just general concern. Grant is at that moment the bets change for the kids survival. And if you then hear sudden gunshots and glass breaking, he's concerned they may all die
In the film he's concerned for grant and kids. But if that line was in the novel he'd be concerned about the raptor's safety. Novel Hammond was a dick.
Ooo. I never thought about that. He does hold sentimentality for his dinos, which is apparent when he stops and looks at the island one last time instead of getting on the damn helicopter. He is a jerk in the book, but I think he is concerned about the kids safety most. Good question
I had always interpreted his concern as being for the raptors. Not to say he didn’t care about the safety of his grand children or even Grant for that matter. But his shout, to me, was an impulsive response to the gunshots which were obviously targeting the raptors.
Probably one of the biggest questions on the jp/jw series like cmon we need at least closure for isla sorna bc it seems as though it disappeared from thin air after jp3 Great Vid too!
Gotta say....I never saw the raptor behind the tank as 'pretending' to be one of the embryos. I always figured, as a predator, observing it's prey before attacking it was standing still and watching. Lions hide quietly in the grass, lizards stand super still as a bug skitters by. I never thought of it being so smart that it was acting like the dead embryo, just observing the newcomers and attacking when one came close enough to grab. I just figured they were another strain, a discarded one. I know the Indo is a hybrid and so not exactly the same but it was a 'prototype'. Since they are messing with dna that they don't know what it is from the start, seems logical that they might try more than one critter to mash them with before they got the one for the park. Like maybe these aren't frog raptors, maybe they are....ostrich raptors...or gator raptors. Still with raptor dna but the binder is different?? Just a throwing out another theory. :D
Fun conversation, nice look at cannon and perspective of the franchise! I can totally see where you both come from. Hope to see more stuff like this, your awesome klayton!
i really hope they eventually bring back the jp3 raptors! those were the best raptor designs in the series in my opinion! (also the jp3 pteranodons look so much better than the jw pteras! the new design is horrible!)
Yeah, I agree! The JP3 designs were pretty sweet. The jw pteras don't look like pteranodons at all. And the jp3 Raptors have really unique designs as well. I personally favor TLW ptera design, but the JP3 designs was so alien and creepy, I love it.
I personally like TLW raptors the most, their design and aggressive behavior were really memorable despite their short screen time. The jp3 are really great to though.
Those raptors are dead as indicated by Mils saying that blue was the last of her kind. Plus those teranodons were an experiment so I don’t see them coming back.
I believe Island Sorna is having an ecosystem problem due to the invasive species like ankys, corys, spino and ceratos. (Ankylosaurs, Corythosaurs, Spinosaurus and Ceratosaurus)
I’d figure the dinosaurs left on Sorna from a “sense making” perspective would be dinosaurs that Masrani couldn’t move to isla Nublar due to the fact some are small and numerous enough to remain propagated across the island, some that are smart enough to stay hidden and keep out of sight from Masrani, and some were simply too massive to move. So I’d figure sorna would be full of compys, raptors and mamenchisaurus as well as others that fit the above categories
I think there some wild Tyrannosaurs too. Contiaining and sustaining 1 old veteran and temperamental female T-rex (Rexy/Roberta) in Jurassic World is already challenging. So it's possible that he would've had younger T-rex transported to Isla Nublar if Rexy died of old age. Also I don't see why would Masrani allow the Sorna Tyrannosaurs or other dinosaurs to starve as they could serve as potential future attractions for Jurassic World.
Showing LOVE for Klayton Fioriti channel. Thanks man for another great video once again, I'll get to listen to the entire video this evening since I'm finally headed home to East Tennessee from out here in South Dakota but Klayton Fioriti thank you man for doing what you do it truly does personally mean alot to people like me who are huge fans of this franchise and how you truly do keep us up-to-date with ANYTHING Jurassic. Thanks again man and I personally wish you and your family and even your TH-cam family a blessed day and weekend, stay safe my friend.
Im still having a hard time believing that those 2 tribes of Raptors on different continents of Isla Sorna just went extinct. I mean, did you see how many were there ? There were over dozens of them ! Even if they ran out of food wouldn’t they’ve just tried to eat one another ?
Well, if it's like in lost world where a plague starts killing off the dinosaurs on the island... I don't think they could escape that just by having large numbers
@@jasonking7570no but if we want to source from the lost world why not source from the novel where dinos swim ashore and potentially to the other islands
I love the theory that they deliberately were breeding both males and females on Sorna, as a means to try and study their behavior and physiology a bit better, before moving some specimens into the actual parks.
except from a controlled experiment it wouldn’t go too far, especially with raptors or in general with resources. male animals are aggressive when it comes to mates or packs and females are most aggressive when it comes to protecting their young, then you have to have enough room food and space for the different species. if it’s a theme park you want to have exact control over each ride hence the fundamental flaw in the parks design. the logical answer is presented in the movie. they used frog dna to fill in gaps and in the presence of no male, the dinos developed the necessary tools to reproduce. not all but enough. it’s also likely that male and female dinos were definitely made on site b for more accurate testing but site A is likely the R&D and park location, while site B is just the field test location. im probably wrong but they were probably more focused on observation on site b as opposed to theme park regulations and presentations. as for jp 1 either hammond lies or the raptors changed genders, cuz iirc grant finds raptor eggs and they’ve only just recently been free of captivity
When the Raptor clawed Udesky on his back, It just so happened that it severed his spine .. So saying how it could have possibly known human anatomy for it to do that is just silly talk. And yes that embryonic building sequence was great, and had very authentic Jurassic Park music. Unlike the scores of the later installments. Jurassic Park III is the most family friendly of the series !? Are you kidding me? Eric surviving for 8 weeks is just a weak plot, don't mistake that with it being family friendly.. Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom take that title my friend, the cloned girl, and the ending, were the whole scene was basically the point of view of a child and her empathy for dinosaurs, the raptor squad .. BLUE. That is marketing aimed at kids 101 RIGHT THERE .. Jurassic Park III is the most comedic and silliest. Give me a BREAK!! .. Own's lava scene, The Indo's smile, the cartoony FK characters, I could go on and on Since you love continuity so much, Can you explain to me why JW raptors don't look like the raptors from the first two JP films?
I want to also add that the Raptor from the embryo chamber scene simply froze itself so that it wouldn’t have been seen or heard. The fact that it’s head froze in such a way that through the liquid it made it look like it was a head in a jar was just coincidence. I loved that moment.
Don't hate me for coming to their defense, but JW Raptors were probably engineered to be more "docile" in a sense that they're Wolfdogs compared to the JP Raptors' rabid Wolf.
Paolo Pasaol Since they were cloned with the idea of possibly being used in the military I’d say that explains the difference in both behaviour and physical characteristics
Probably not since I think that spino is a geneticist c hybrid like the I Rex and Indoraptor. But a Spino in general would be noche as well as a Suchomimus.
I wonder if Isla Matanceros, Isla Tacano, and Isla Muerta exist in the Jurassic World canon cuz if so Ingen can find a way to make more parks and dinosaurs on those islands with the addition of Isla Sorna and they could reintroduce the Spinosaurus into the mix
32:35 my argument is that since Sorna was the factory for dinosaurs, they had all the Genetics like the nublar dinosaurs and since they left it alone without human intervention, they thought they died. That's why " something has survived". That's my thinking
Maybe Ingen came through and cleaned it all up tore down the buildings, scrapped the remains of the cars, and came across the bodies from both isla sorna incidents. Maybe that’s what Eli mills wanted to do with his money, use it to build a new operation on isla sorna along with Henry Wu. Maybe that is where they were going to bring Blue. Maybe mills wanted to start a small theme park of his own.
1:04:00 I know I'm late but, the raptors stabbing the spine isn't tooooo far fetched, when you consider that lions do the same thing to buffalo and other hostile lions - biting through the spine to immobilize them.
In the films I’ve always seen Hammond as more of a misguided oldman caught up in the grandeur of his ideas rather than selfish. Like he just gets distracted by big ideas with intricacies he doesn’t fully understand all the consequences of. Except in the book.....where he’s a stubborn asshole who ignores the consequences of his actions. Film Hammond tries to learn from his mistakes but still makes some of the same ones and new ones not fully understanding all the problems. Book Hammond doesn’t try to learn and attempts to make all the same mistakes. Basically both Hammonds are flawed but the film version comes from a place of ignorance rather than selfishness.
I can’t imagine what Michael Criton would be doing with the franchise now if he was still alive. Like he wrote Sorna in to existence because he destroyed Nublar in the books, and still somewhat wrote Lost World to parallel the film. How would he reconcile Nublar still existing for a Jurassic World?
I only just discovered your channel, but I'm loving every video! Thank you for revitalizing my love of the Jurassic universe and teaching me so much more about it than I ever knew existed.
Awesome video. This video answers a lot of questions, especially ones no one really asked, but the answers to the questions make more sense then what I used to think
The raptor didnt have to understand how the tanks work...raptors, per canon, stalk. they hide behind stuff and stay still until the right time to strike hits. When they walked in, that raptor hid. If I remember correctly, that raptor was alone at the time. It would have hid, and then waited for its pack to show up. Now, we all know they did that with the raptor head in a tank because it added a pretty good jump scare to the movie.
I ALWAYS thought that "JURASSIC WORLD" was actually the OPPOSITE side of Isla Nublar....They show an abandoned, overgrown, ruined site which looks remarkably like the old VISITOR'S CENTER, the abandoned, overgrown garage STILL has the orig. electric jeeps from the first movie, & in the dirt of the abandoned visitor hall is the old. orig. decaying banner that said "When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth". It's MORE than just a wink at the FIRST movie!!!
Amazing. I always thought Hammond fooled himself and believed his own bs. But after your discussion, no- there's just no way. He's way deeper than I ever thought.
I hope we get to see a new fresh male Rex in the new movie. Perhaps the “baby” from the lost world al grown up? Been awhile since we’ve had another Rex other than rexy (I’m not counting the juvenile from the 3rd movie because it literally had 30 seconds of screen time)
1:03:20 I can hear ol' Billy Burr saying "OH JEZUS! HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A BEAR EAT A COW? IT'S HORRENDOUS!.... IT EATS IT ALIVE!... THE COWS MAKING THIS FUNNY NOISE LIKE MOUHAWWAHWAHWAHWA HAHAHA HAHAHA....." I want to point out the velociraptors didn't kill Robert Muldoon, but instead started eating first. Much like bears, You can hear his screams....
1:04:00 The wild raptors are smart, technically the JP3 raptors have had to increase their intelligence in order to survive their extreme environment, they are living with dinosaurs they wouldn't of ever survived with. Including human teaching/intelligence as well as any genetics humans have given them.... Basically I would say the raptors are having a Civil war, one party the wild tiger stripe clan,(Natural real raptors) the other the intelligent male feather quil clan.(The genetically altered more efficient/intelligent raptors) With of course the new J.W. "Blue" clan. Meaning there would be a breeding clan that is getting more aggressive/wild and another clan going more civil/intelligent... Planet of the apes style....
My headcanon about the difference between the JP/TLW and JPIII Raptors is that Wu experimented with the Velociraptors between the events of TLW and JPIII to make them less psychotically aggressive by introducing more avian DNA into the mix, which resulted in somewhat more docile "only attacks when provoked or hunting" Raptors we see in JPIII (because no way in Hell that the JP/TLW Raptors would've let the group live). Not only did these experiments make them more docile, it also made them MUCH more intelligent (maybe the DNA he used was that of corvids!). These discoveries were carried over into Jurassic World when he was breeding the Raptor Squad, which were a mix between the Ver. 1 (JP/TLW) Raptors and the Ver. 2 (JPIII) Raptors, basically making them Ver. 1.5. This explains Charlie's crests, the Raptors being manageable and trainable, being less savage but still active hunters, etc...in Jurassic World and links all 3 versions together in a nice way. EDIT: With "experimented with the Velociraptors", I mean that he cloned new ones with more avian DNA, not that he took the existing TLW Raptors and started experimenting on them.
I agree but what if the JP3 raptors were the original raptors that Ingen cloned but was afraid of the their high intelligence? As a result they closed a second batch of raptors but made them less intelligent as a result they were more aggressive?
intelligence of raptors is alluded to early in the movie by Grant as being "smarter than primates" so the JP3 raptors showcasing highly intelligent behavior isn't unbelievable since that was already shown in the first movie. Predators instinctively know how to incapacitate prey so the raptors taking this a step further isn't far fetched. As far as the raptor mimicking being inside the tank is also believable for these creatures, because that's all it's doing, mimicry. The raptors were probably already familiar with the embryonic lab and it sees animals within the tanks as apart of the environment that the humans aren't reacting to with concern, unlike they would to a predator out in the open, so it simply mimicked that to fool them, it doesn't necessarily understand what it's seeing. It was already established raptors understanding how a door functions, so taking that into consideration makes their behavior more believable. The Lost World raptors were more wild being born naturally, lived away from the human settlements and probably had little or no exposure to humans and lived exclusively in the wilderness. I think it's implied the JP3 raptors were created artificially being newer creations like the Spinosaurus and spent time around humans and human environments and were thus more intelligent
The only way the Raptors in JP3 could get more deadly and intelligent as that they have a voice box and started performing mimikary like a Parrot and using it to catch unsuspecting prey
Re the raptors knowing how to kill a human...isn’t it kind of a given that they’ve killed enough humans before? Previous park staff? Also, if that’s how you’ve killed other prey, you’d try it with new prey? I didn’t think it was particularly far fetched.
They could have really explored the real 'Cloning' features in animals on earth today, like the Mourning Gecko. This trait is called Parthenogenesis. Full Parthenogenesis results in exact mother to daughter offspring but semi-parthenogenesis can result in both male and female offspring. This can explain males being present.
I have a theory. In the lost world Hammond says that the dinosaurs were bred and raised on isla sorna so would that mean that the Mamenchiasaurus, Compsognathus, Pachycephalosaurus, Pteranodon, Stegosaurus, corythosaurus, ankylosaurus, spinosaurus and Ceratosaurus were going to be attractions in jurassic park like adding herbivores to existing enclosures. Also the only reason there would of been 2 adult rexes on sorna was if they were planning on putting more rexes in with rexy and same with the raptors. If you do end up making a video about this would you give me a shout out it would mean a lot.
Hey Klayton, I'm watching your videos for years 'cause I'm a huge JP Fan too. It's amazing how many stories and theories you can show us every week. I think you're the hotspot of "Jurassic Informations" and thank you for showing so much work to the best franchise 65 million years in the making. I got something, that might get your attention: I made a Jurassic Park Card game inspired by the game "Werewolves". It's a funny, free, easy to print and simple multiplayer card game. If you're interested in, I can paste a link to it 😅 I would be proud to know you saw/play my game and that more JP fans would be able to know it's existing. You're great 👍👍
Great discussion. I think Hammond is a fantastic character especially because he is basically a lovable villain. He has motives that anyone can identify with but he is ruthless. He's a charming old grandpa, a professional show man, a lover of children but he is also greedy, egomaniacal and as soon as things go south he starts assassinating people's characters to suit his own vision. He is a pathological denialist and he always gets away with it because of his financial backing. Honestly, I wish Hammond was praised more as a character because he was excellently written in both the movies and the novels AND Richard Attenborough was PERFECT for his casting.
In the scene where Hammond is talking about Sarah to Ian Hammond also tells Malcolm that Sarah tracked down Ian in the first place to listen about the Nublar stories not to date him. I always thought that was another reason Ian gets pissed at Hammond.
This is how i'd make JP3 better. have the first half be the same as it was BUT instead of the inGen compound being abandoned its actually in use with scientists and security. they arrest the Kirby's, Billy and Mr Udesky get arrested for trespassing and witnessing illegal experimentation. Grant still gets saved by Eric and they both team up to break the Kirby's and Billy out of the inGen compound, The Third half of the movie will revolve around the Bad guys chasing after the Gang trying to capture them so they won't expose them. Billy still sacrifices himself and the Spinosaurus inadvertently saves the gang from the bad guys, Giving Grant an opportunity to call Ellie so the Marines can come save them and arrest the bad guys. Dr Grant saves the day. The Kirby's reclaim their son. and Billy still survives like in canon.
klayton, i was just watching fallen kingdom and noticed when they was putting the dinosuars on to the boat for transport that we get a full scene of them restraining a therizinosaurus. i never noticed this before, am i the only one who missed this? i though there had never been a live action therizinosaurus in the Jurassic series.
@@BASSR1DER I re-watched the scene you are talking about. That is a Gallimimus. Gallimimus are normally 18 - 20 feet in length & easily 9 - 10 feet in height if they hold their head upright. But you have to realize that the JP dinos are not natural & several are unnaturally over-sized, examples include the Ankylosaurus & Stegosaurus. With the Stego a normal one would be around 25 - 30 feet in length, but JP Stegos are around 40 feet! They are around the same length & almost the same height as the Rex! And the you have the Anky, which are normally around 25 feet long & around 5 - 6 feet in height, but the JP versions are 30 - 35 feet long & 10 - 12 feet tall! It's all due to the JP dinos being genetically made clones made with mix/matched DNA.
When Ian Malcolm asks Hammond about the Lysine, Hammond doesn't Just shrug it off. He says: "That's one of the Thousand questions I want the team to answer."
I'd always assumed that, from what Wu was saying in JP, that the majority of the dinosaurs had the same kind of genetic differentiation as crocodiles, where it's less an actual genetic thing and more of specifics in the nest, just one more sign that they had less idea what they were dealing with than they claimed.
Lets say, you find 10 different mosquitos that contain the raptor genome, but each genome is degraded in a different area. So genome 1 has a hole for eye proteins. Genome 2 has a hole for skin colour proteins. so on and so forth. You then have to patch each hole with a different fragment of frog DNA. So now you have 10 full genomes that will all produce slightly different raptors, but that wont produce an animal that is actually fully raptor. Now the raptors breed. Sexual reproduction and genetic inheritance is very complicated. I would say, its safe to assume that any raptor egg that ends up with too much frog DNA is probably non-viable and won't hatch, or will hatch into something with severe birth defects that kill it young. What this means is, that over time, generation to generation, the raptors are slowly filtering the frog DNA out of the breeding pool. Each new generation of raptor is becoming much more like they were originally 65 million years ago. Hence, JP3 raptors.
"Why wouldn't it just change the gonadle tissue?" That's not how gender changing animals work. Several types of fish can change gender and they go through massive transformations. Most creatures have some kind of gender dimorphism. It makes sense that changing genders would visually change the animal considerably. Also, what game is this footage from?
Great interview, guys! Looking forward to more discussion like this! ^^ Regarding the JPIII raptors, I always headcanon'd that, similar to Jack's idea, they were 3rd/4th generation and by that generation, they had some changes and more of the original raptor DNA was becoming more apparent those genes were becoming more dominant, which explained why they started sprouting quills...A little silly, I know XD Now I believe that the post-TLW experiments meant that raptors' new look was a result of those experiments, too :P As for someone showing Alan a satellite image, I can just see a moment where he is hounded by an over-enthusiastic journalist, who shoves that image in front of his face, which he humours by taking one look, scoffing, handing it back and saying something like 'If you want a story, talk to Malcolm.'
I’m happy to see your still putting out amazing content, but I have a question. what’s your thoughts on the stop of filming for this new JUrassic world movie?
I just wanted to point out something about animals that can change gender. Specifically, animals with obvious sexual dimorphism. There are several species of fish that go through a dramatic physical change from female to male. It's all about hormones. Even in humans, trans people on hormone treatment go through dramatic physical changes, like a second puberty. So a female rex naturally transitioning to male would gain a bulkier form over several years. Same with the raptors.
Yeah, I agree about the site b part in the beginning. It makes sense to have another site solely for researching and creating dinosaur. I dont understand why people always bring that "Yeah, right site b. Then why they have a dinosaur lab in the visitor center then?". Oh I dont know, maybe because that one room inside a cramped building that already filled with control room, a theater, and a shop is not enough to cook a dinosaur? Besides, if you look at the way that room designed (with a clear view from the theater) it is most likely that the primary purpose of nublar's lab is to entertain guests.
I had never noticed the bit about San Juan and let me tell you, as a puertorican who still lives on the island, I would’ve roasted the script writer even more for that XD How the hell are you gonna confuse the Atlantic with the Pacific? Good chat btw, I love discussions like these
You can't believe Hammond even though he is this infectious cult of personality. You want to believe him because he's so fun. His description of Ian Malcom also applies to himself, an excess of personality.
i think prequels are a rich possibility and something that could add so much in the lore or dead-end storylines. Some poachers going to Sorna, pre World could explore the labs for more info and also tie into anything Jacks done for the websites. love these discussions btw, listened while doing some gaming and I was paused more than anything to listen.
You should check out domestic hogs. When they break free or out of their pig pins and go to live in the wild, they then become feral and there skull structure changes entirely to that of wild boars. I know it isn’t in the Dino’s, I’m just saying they’re animals that change bone structure.
@Jared McGowan Don’t get whiny, there’s probably a tribe of Compies picking off a family of snakes and rats. Maybe the northern (JP3) raptors have learned how to control herd populations for hunting, even with smaller animals.
Luigi Mario 1997 He is not whiny. You just have no heart for the islands. Also, we already lost annular so we can’t loose Sorna. And if we do, I’m going to turn you into a Rex burger.
I'm SO late to this party because I only recently found this channel, but I had a thought on why the raptors were different in JP3 vs. 1 and 2... Mind you, this is blending book and movie cannon so dubious at best. 1. In the first book, it is pointed out that the wild born juvenile raptors looked slightly different from their lab grown counterparts. The theory put out at the time (I don't remember if it was Grant or Satler who said it) was that as the dinosaurs bred in the wild the genetic kinks began to work themselves out. Perhaps the reason for the cosmetic difference between the Nublar, Lost World, and JP3 raptors is the JP3 raptors are 3-4 generation wild born. It is stated in the books that InGen also augmented their growth cycle, so the idea that 3 or 4 generations can reach sexual maturity in the 3-5 years prior to the films and 10 years between movies isn't outside of the realm of possibility. Another point in favor of this, IMO, is that the female in JP3 looks pretty similar to the LW raptors, with the stripes and all. She's just much more pale. 2. Another point in the books is that the lab grown raptors completely lacked socialization as raptors. They were these perfect, hyper carnivorous killing machines, incredibly smart, and has no evolutionary/behavioral conditioning on how to exist that way. It could be that, as a multi-generational family unit, the pack in JP3 appears to be so much more intelligent because they had generational knowledge and socialization. They were able to work out vocalization, hunting strategies, and other behaviors to meet their environmental needs. We see the same thing happen with chimps and gorillas in the wild, the existence of complex family units that pass down skills and behaviors over time. Closer to home, many corvid species, especially common North American crows and Ravens, do the same thing. They exhibit complex social patterns, play behaviors, and even markers of complex thoughts and cultural development, like the 'funerals' that are sometimes observed (though some animal behaviorists think this behavior is more akin to an investigation, trying to determine how the dead bird was killed to assess whether or not there is danger nearby). A visual media cannon reference to this might be how differently Blue and her offspring behave in the JW trilogy vs raptors in the previous visual media. Again, these fan theories are based off of a blending book and movie cannon, and are as such dubiously applicable to the visual media as a whole.
The talk about Hammond makes me thing something relating to Jurassic World. Many detractors call that movie a morally bankrupt corruption of the franchise because it realizes the park that the first movie and characters decidedly determine is a bad idea. In the movie Marsani says that in his death bed Hammond entrusted him with his dreams, and JW is the realization of them. Most would asume Marsani is talking out of his ass, either lying or misunderstanding who John Hammond was. But he might very well be telling the honest true, and that Hammond never let go of the idea of the park. Once Ludlow was out of the company after the events of TLW, Hammond had complete control over the InGen assets. And then he gave them all to Marsani, a man of wealth and ambition, who shared his fascination with the creatures, and had the technology at his disposal to learn from Hammond's failures. EDIT: Whoops, Jack does go there 30 minutes into the video. Wrote too soon. Still, the idea does works with what's in the movies themselves.
I love your videos plz keep up the good work, they get me thru the day and i think you should have way more subs ✌️ thank you for your amazing content bro 😁
I’ve been in some fb discussions in some of the groups who say there’s still life on Sorna to this day, which I’m against but the poaching as mentioned in Evolution of Claire did happen and it had an effect on Sorna along with the illegal species and transporting to Nublar in 2015. Some do t care about DPG, but it is canon to the films from appearing in FK
1:03:00 I have to disagree here, considering the whole "cloning dinosaurs and opening a theme park with them inside" story, a carnivore instinctively knowing to go for the neck/head of it's prey is really not that hard to believe - even the slashing the back to immobilise their prey, this again can be easily attributed to millions of years of evolution, after all humans aren't the only creatures to have a spinal cord. For example "terrier" breed dogs instinctively (although via selective breeding) will catch rats by the head and shake them around violently to immediately kill them (or at least render them paralysed).
In defense of John Hammond, he’s only conniving and manipulative on behalf of the dinosaurs. It’s easy to write him off as the “evil capitalist” archetype, but it really doesn’t do him justice considering Hammond’s monologue during the final news broadcast at the end of Lost World. He’s certainly not the heroic environmentalist, but Hammond is consistently the only figurehead in any position of authority who understands dinosaurs are living things at the mercy of human will.
Given that Joe Johnston the creator of bobba fett directed JP3 it makes sense that that movie is praised for asthetics and dammned for lack of explonation.
I loved listening to this. It should be worth mentioning that in reality, we have two different velociraptor species. V.mongoliensis and V.osmolskae. marked by differences in the skull. Particularly the pallet. I also noticed pteranodon in TLW is P.sternbergi (geosternbergia) while JP3 seems to be P.longiceps. could be useful to cannon?
Jp1=jw1 both have 2 kids who come to a park full of dinos and everything goes wrong Jp2=jw2 both start off with people having to go to an island full of wild dinos that end up getting loose in the main city Coincidence i think not
I think that Hammond did genuinely care for the dinos. I think it was just the idea of being the one spearhead something like, to have his name forever remembered by all, just got to his head.
In TLW movie though both Tyrannosaurus and Stegosaurus babies and there were younger Parasaurolophus, Brachiosaurs, and Triceratops too in JPIII so at least 6 dinosaurs including Velociraptor that can breed
The Jurassic Park three pteranodons according to my Jurassic Park collector’s cards are an ingen experiment to make more aggressive bigger pteranodons. is this correct?
That would also explain their aggression and extreme territoriality. That’s pretty cool... also they might have left Sorna for special reasons I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️ haven’t seen the full vid yet.
JPFan4Life I know right! That makes sense if there might be something out of the ordinary in the island. Or just the matter of not having enough space. That would be an interesting video for Klayton to do. Thanks JPFan4Life 👌🦖
I really like the vibe of site b and the lost world. Very adventurous and off-grid feeling throughout the second movie.
Same
And I like spankey time
I love that aspect of it, you worded it so well
@@YoungBoySpazz ummm I don’t know what to say
me too, love the dark atmosphere of the movie, and the landscape of the island, forests, mountains etc.
It’s a fair theory 👌🏽
But the dinbosaumrns
in the books its the other way around the got the most close to real posible, and theres even a scene where hammond and wu discuss it, wu want more tame and easier to handle dinousaurs and tell hammond that is posible but hammond refuses
Your theory fails because Raptors weren't anywhere near as big as they are in jurassic park, if Wu had tried to make them more like what the originals were then he would have had to make them a lot smaller.
I believe in this Theory It makes a Lotta Sense to me
I swear if they dont make a prequel to the JPs, when I become a movie director i will.

I'm currently writing a screenplay
I wish Michael Chriton was still alive. Just imagine what a third book would have changed as far as the movies go.
He had plenty of time to write one though. Personally, I think the books are great being a duology. They accomplished what they needed to.
Well, considering he wrote a second one at Spielberg's request and then they used hardly any of it aside from site b and character names in the movie, I would say he probably wasn't in a hurry to write a 3rd one to help out the movie franchise.
Unfortunately he was not interested in writing any more dinosaur books after lost world
@@archangel1152he was sick of dinosaurs after the lost world unfortunately. But knowing Hollywood they would ignore his books as source material anyway
Loved this convo. One nitpick, in Jurassic World there IS voiceover stating that the T.Rex is from the original park when they are in Rexy's new paddock.
Steven Ray Morris
Rexy is the same T. Rex from Jurassic Park.
i don't remember hearing that said in the movie
Eiji Kobayashi that’s what he just said
Where the hell did they get the name Rexy anyways?
Molten ShadowLocks oh I’m pretty sure it’s just a nickname the fandom came up with lmao, it makes it easier to identify her from the other dinos
She is from the Original Park, also the scars on her give it away that she was the same T-Rex from the first movie
I really hope it comes back in jw3. And I hope the male raptors and spino come back
Idk bout' the spino (this is coming from a jp3 fan), but i would love to see the male raptors again. I've always loved their design.
How about the ceratosaurus?
@@robertdevries7947 forgot about cerato, since it was only on screen for a few seconds. I'd like to see it in dominion
Most likely
The spino either died or was taken to JW, same with the raptors
(Throw in maybe a sneek peak shot of the spinosaurus, or the jp3 raptor clan)
Sounds really dark to kill them all, but also realistic and fitting to the style and title.
LIFE... WILL FIND A WAY
I know this is an old comment but that would have been great for the movie! I wonder if you have seen the new movie by now and what you think of it.
When Hammond yells GGRAAANNT!!
Is that concern for Grant and his grandchildren or concern Grant will shoot the raptors?
Probably one of the biggest questions on the jp/jw series like cmon we need at least closure for isla sorna bc it seems as though it disappeared from thin air after jp3
Great Vid too!
But if they were "watching" why weren't they focused on anyone? A lion or any predator wouldn't give away their position like that.
Fun conversation, nice look at cannon and perspective of the franchise! I can totally see where you both come from. Hope to see more stuff like this, your awesome klayton!
Nice Interview with Jack Ewins of what happened to Isla Sorna of the Jurassic Series.
i really hope they eventually bring back the jp3 raptors! those were the best raptor designs in the series in my opinion!
Axle Avalanche As far as we know, it’s not like any of the Sorna raptors had trackers to find out if their still around.
Brandon Davis But all of the animals from Island two were transported to Iceland Nubour. And they did indeed all have implants.
Well Isla Sorna is still around, maybe Eli Mills meant the secret Island is Isla Sorna cuz not even Claire knew where the island was.
I believe Island Sorna is having an ecosystem problem due to the invasive species like ankys, corys, spino and ceratos. (Ankylosaurs, Corythosaurs, Spinosaurus and Ceratosaurus)
I never read "The Evolution of Clair" but are you sure she's never gotten the full details of how Jurassic Park came to be?
@@garypfeiffer3489 well she was just the assistant manager of park operations. So she only focuses on her job.
@@TitanTony3333_ yeah, isla sorna's ecosystem was completely destroyed by species like these
HomieBruceTheShark True but she also has to take control of things when Mazrani wasn’t around.

Aye this was do great! I love Site B too, that whole era surrounding Lost World and JP3 huge nostalgia for! Always a great day when Klayton uploads :)
Im still having a hard time believing that those 2 tribes of Raptors on different continents of Isla Sorna just went extinct. I mean, did you see how many were there ? There were over dozens of them ! Even if they ran out of food wouldn’t they’ve just tried to eat one another ?
I think they can camouflage and hide from sensors. They are there but can’t be detected
Well, if it's like in lost world where a plague starts killing off the dinosaurs on the island... I don't think they could escape that just by having large numbers
We now know that they weren’t
@@jasonking7570no but if we want to source from the lost world why not source from the novel where dinos swim ashore and potentially to the other islands
I love the theory that they deliberately were breeding both males and females on Sorna, as a means to try and study their behavior and physiology a bit better, before moving some specimens into the actual parks.
Me too! It totally makes sense from a scientific perspective to learn as much as you can about your assets before you show them to the public.
That would make so much sense
except from a controlled experiment it wouldn’t go too far, especially with raptors or in general with resources.
male animals are aggressive when it comes to mates or packs and females are most aggressive when it comes to protecting their young, then you have to have enough room food and space for the different species. if it’s a theme park you want to have exact control over each ride hence the fundamental flaw in the parks design. the logical answer is presented in the movie. they used frog dna to fill in gaps and in the presence of no male, the dinos developed the necessary tools to reproduce. not all but enough. it’s also likely that male and female dinos were definitely made on site b for more accurate testing but site A is likely the R&D and park location, while site B is just the field test location. im probably wrong but they were probably more focused on observation on site b as opposed to theme park regulations and presentations.
as for jp 1 either hammond lies or the raptors changed genders, cuz iirc grant finds raptor eggs and they’ve only just recently been free of captivity
What I’ve seen of Dino Defenders so far is really good. Keep it coming. 👍
Thanks Dinoslay!

Give me a BREAK!! .. Own's lava scene, The Indo's smile, the cartoony FK characters, I could go on and on
Since you love continuity so much, Can you explain to me why JW raptors don't look like the raptors from the first two JP films?
All that was needed to be said... 👏👏
All that was needed to be said... 👏👏

Isnt this the entire plot of Jurassic World Evolution? Or was that on purpose and im about to get wooshed?
32:35 my argument is that since Sorna was the factory for dinosaurs, they had all the Genetics like the nublar dinosaurs and since they left it alone without human intervention, they thought they died. That's why " something has survived". That's my thinking
I hope they bring back isla sorna

Yes! More content! Your work is great! Loved this!
Book Hammond didn't care about the kids at all, I think he only referred to them as his grand-children once
Hamond said in a game that the trexes were the 7 rulers of the island not Kings of queens.
That was great! I love how you show the vintage jurassic park games as well. Some look dead good!
My Favorite Jurassic Park/World conversation so far.

Please hire me if you need help... lol.
Love this discussion! Klayton & Jack are the online authority when it comes to Jurassic. (IMO)
That's my headcanon as well.
Happy to hear about the island
I feel like isla Sorna is the main island , there is just so much more stories that go to it
The only way the Raptors in JP3 could get more deadly and intelligent as that they have a voice box and started performing mimikary like a Parrot and using it to catch unsuspecting prey
So basically they become prehistoric sirenheads
13:51, "Oh, that shit don't work", haha. This was great. Do another in the future.
Am I the only one who wasn't bothered by Site B suddenly existing? I was just kinda like "Ok cool! Another island with dinosaurs?! Let's go!"
Same for me
And it make sense in a way. Why on Earth would Hammond and later Msrami want to conduct experiments on the dinosaur in the place where the guests are?
I have a theory. In the lost world Hammond says that the dinosaurs were bred and raised on isla sorna so would that mean that the Mamenchiasaurus, Compsognathus, Pachycephalosaurus, Pteranodon, Stegosaurus, corythosaurus, ankylosaurus, spinosaurus and Ceratosaurus were going to be attractions in jurassic park like adding herbivores to existing enclosures. Also the only reason there would of been 2 adult rexes on sorna was if they were planning on putting more rexes in with rexy and same with the raptors. If you do end up making a video about this would you give me a shout out it would mean a lot.
ceratosaurus, pteranodon, ankylosaurus, corythosaurus and spinosaurus were created after the 2nd movie

Your videos are great! Keep it going.
In the scene where Hammond is talking about Sarah to Ian Hammond also tells Malcolm that Sarah tracked down Ian in the first place to listen about the Nublar stories not to date him.

Brilliant video again mate keep up the good work
When Ian Malcolm asks Hammond about the Lysine, Hammond doesn't Just shrug it off. He says: "That's one of the Thousand questions I want the team to answer."
I can listen to you guys all night
Keep it brother . And I agree with everything u say about site b. they need to show it more in the movies
"Why wouldn't it just change the gonadle tissue?"
That's not how gender changing animals work. Several types of fish can change gender and they go through massive transformations. Most creatures have some kind of gender dimorphism. It makes sense that changing genders would visually change the animal considerably.
Also, what game is this footage from?
Great interview, guys! Looking forward to more discussion like this! ^^
Regarding the JPIII raptors, I always headcanon'd that, similar to Jack's idea, they were 3rd/4th generation and by that generation, they had some changes and more of the original raptor DNA was becoming more apparent those genes were becoming more dominant, which explained why they started sprouting quills...A little silly, I know XD Now I believe that the post-TLW experiments meant that raptors' new look was a result of those experiments, too :P
As for someone showing Alan a satellite image, I can just see a moment where he is hounded by an over-enthusiastic journalist, who shoves that image in front of his face, which he humours by taking one look, scoffing, handing it back and saying something like 'If you want a story, talk to Malcolm.'
This interview gonna leave me heartbroken by Sorna's fate, isn't it?.... :(
@Jared McGowan Don’t get whiny, there’s probably a tribe of Compies picking off a family of snakes and rats.
Java Bucket * slow claps * 👏
Java Bucket but he wasnt insulting him he was just saying it’s gonna be ok
For example "terrier" breed dogs instinctively (although via selective breeding) will catch rats by the head and shake them around violently to immediately kill them (or at least render them paralysed).
love the names for his trespasser save files. "inside, anywhere!!"
I love this conversation
In defense of John Hammond, he’s only conniving and manipulative on behalf of the dinosaurs. It’s easy to write him off as the “evil capitalist” archetype, but it really doesn’t do him justice considering Hammond’s monologue during the final news broadcast at the end of Lost World. He’s certainly not the heroic environmentalist, but Hammond is consistently the only figurehead in any position of authority who understands dinosaurs are living things at the mercy of human will.
Much support form belgium
Thank you for this video. It helped me lose time and listen to interesting things while at work🦖🦕😃
Given that Joe Johnston the creator of bobba fett directed JP3 it makes sense that that movie is praised for asthetics and dammned for lack of explonation.
Jp1=jw1 both have 2 kids who come to a park full of dinos and everything goes wrong
Jp2=jw2 both start off with people having to go to an island full of wild dinos that end up getting loose in the main city
Coincidence i think not
I think that Hammond did genuinely care for the dinos. I think it was just the idea of being the one spearhead something like, to have his name forever remembered by all, just got to his head.
Auto-Generated captions are a mess.
ye
In TLW movie though both Tyrannosaurus and Stegosaurus babies and there were younger Parasaurolophus, Brachiosaurs, and Triceratops too in JPIII so at least 6 dinosaurs including Velociraptor that can breed
The Jurassic Park three pteranodons according to my Jurassic Park collector’s cards are an ingen experiment to make more aggressive bigger pteranodons. is this correct?
Yea that’s why the jp 3 pteranodons have teeth
That would also explain their aggression and extreme territoriality. That’s pretty cool... also they might have left Sorna for special reasons I don’t know 🤷🏻♂️ haven’t seen the full vid yet.
@@abiezerEscude Well, at the end of the film, Dr Grant speculated that they might be looking for a new nesting site.
JPFan4Life I know right! That makes sense if there might be something out of the ordinary in the island. Or just the matter of not having enough space. That would be an interesting video for Klayton to do. Thanks JPFan4Life 👌🦖
What if they were the mistake left behind instead of spino
