I always felt that Roland was about to tell Sarah she should clean the blood off before continuing, but when she said it was from the T-Rex baby, he decided against warning her. Not because he wanted her dead, but because he knew it was the best chance he had to lure the T-Rex to him.

I said it many times and I'll say it again, The Lost World is so underrated. This movie never deserved the hate it got. It's not perfect but it's one of the better JP sequels out there at least in my opinion.

Manuel Martinez I honestly love all the sequels sure all have problems
      Lost world-Unlike the novel
JP3-No answers needed but was entertaining a bit
JW-Eh basically just to revive the series
Fallen kingdom-Underrated I see why it’s hated but that’s why I love it it’s everything I expected and hits them perfectly and makes it actually scary again unlike the 3 movies before it(not counting JP1 because it was the og and was ahead of the 3 sequels before)

Manuel Martinez tbh some hate it did indeed deserve, the San Diego incident shouldn’t have happened imo and even then there is 3 aspects I like about the San Diego incident, but other then that yeah I can’t agree with criticisms given on the film other then minor ones like “Oh I wish this aspect/scene was given more screen time” which is really a criticism that can be applied to literally every fictional work ever

    • @katiest.vincent4283
      @katiest.vincent4283 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

If it hadn't been for the San Diego incident, I'd agree with you. I adore Malcolm, but I hate that entire plot line. As soon as the T-Rex stepped foot on the mainland it ceased to be Jurassic Park and turns into Godzilla. In contrast while Fallen Kingdom is a significantly poorer film it at least released the dinosaurs in a way that was true to the main themes in the franchise. All the San Diego incident did was build up the body count, but had absolutely no major impact. And yes I realise your comment was 6 months ago, but still wanted to put my two cents in.

I think the problem these days is that critics and the general, novel-ignoring public just don't know what the hell they want out of the franchise, if they want it at all. The first three sequels were boring rehashes to them, and Fallen Kingdom may as well have been The Last Jedi. It's either a boring rehash, or "Oh it was so different I didn't like it at all!". IMO the solution is to commit in the new direction, because trying to flip-flop back and forth won't push the overall story anywhere. And if you say "This direction was where the novel was going, TWICE" they'll say "I don't care about the novels". So you can't win.

You can commit to a new direction without sawing off an arm though.
20 years from now, you may want it back, but more importantly, part of the intrigue of the series was always wondering what the state of the old park is...and what sights may someday be seen. Now that intrigue is gone.
Also the way they did it....just felt like a cheap plot device; completely out of nowhere-with no lead up just to give that last movie a reason to happen without bothering with decent writing.

I heard that The Lost World has a pretty decently sized fanbase. From what I've heard, one of the reasons that movie was more 'disliked' than the first one was because it left out most/all the sci-fi elements of the first one, the science of it all, and had only the dinosaurs, which is ironic, considering Site B was where all the science was handled since that was where they made the dinos. Is this right? I didn't finish watching The Lost World...

So... I used to TOTALLY agreed with O' Ehley, Dr. Harding seemed WILDLY incompetent for a professional who knew as much a she did and shared exposition with the audience too (she practically tells us the Rex will probably hunt them down cause they messed with their nest and that they can smell REALLY well) and Roland seemed like a total dork for letting her carry on...
    BUT!!!
As I grew older and picked up more subtle nuances from the movies I think Dr. Harding was literally just in shock from the intial Rex attack and that screwed up her Judgement & I think Roland was USING her as Bait to draw the Buck in... That's why I think he was so crushed by Ajay's death, not ONLY because they were very close but because he realized that he's gone FULL CAPTAIN AHAB and gotten his Friend killed for a Trophy. Think that line about having spent enough time in the Presence of Death was equally about himself as it was directed at Peter Ludlow.

@@TeganCantEven IMO I wouldn't. If that were the case, JW as a film would be a very different sequel than what it is today. Beyond that it also showed different sides to many animals that are fan favorites as well. Lost World and 3 massively expanded on the raptors, showing us more about how they work, their vocalization, social life (3 showed this with how desperate the raptor pack was to retrieve its stolen eggs and the fact that the pack seemed to be lead by a singular female, with the males all following her lead. A potentially matriarchal system.), Lost World also gave us a lot on the tyrannosaur social life, and 3 introduced the JP Spino. Its true what you said, TLW is incredibly underrated. I absolutely LOVED it to be honest. The idea of an abandoned Ingen facility, where dinosaurs have colonised every square foot on that larger island (Sorna) due to a major incident is super scary. Before you even get off your boat or plane, you are in danger. Even worse, when you remember that Sorna had cloned hundreds, if not thousands of dinosaurs and stores them there until they move to Nublar, and they're now free to move where they want.
Plus, in TLW we get two T-rexes! With one loose in a major city. That scene is so iconic IMO!

And maybe introduce Martin Gutierrez as a scientist looking at those aberrant forms showing up in mainland areas. If something survived on Sorna it’s possible that they either drifted or hitched a ride to the mainland like in the books. But, I *do* agree that that can get old the longer the series progresses, so I give credit to Colin Trevorrow and J.A. Bayona. They made the right call with finally adapting Nublar's destruction in "Fallen Kingdom."

I always felt that we had to move away from the islands because it would just be boring and repetitive to see the exact same locale over and over again. The doors are now wide open for JW3.
People who think Jurassic should just stay on the islands are not thinking of the big picture of the franchise.

    • @whiteout0111
      @whiteout0111 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Why does the franchise HAVE to keep going? If you want dinosaurs on main land than make your own damn franchise. Jurassic park is Jurassic freaking park. It takes place on a island. ITS OKAY FOR A SERIES TO END. It is possible to create a different franchise. Literally the only thing tying the new movies to the real Jurassic park is just the name alone. It should have been it's own franchise instead of cashing in on the JP name and ruining that franchise

    • @whiteout0111

@JurassicHero 3 ok, I'm gonna make a movie about a bunch of human clones an I'm gonna call it Jurassic park. Lol you are delusional. Just look at the title of the franchise... JURASSIC PARK. meaning
      1) it has something to do with the Jurassic time period.
      2) there is a park built around the Jurassic time period.
Yes, the overall idea is the arrogance of man and that man shouldn't play God. BUT without the dinosaurs, or the park (which they destroyed) it is NOT Jurassic park. These themes are what Jurassic park is about. That is NOT what Jurassic world is about
Jurassic world is about big buff Chris pratt making as many unfunny jokes as he can, while running around with CGI dinosaurs and human clones and punching other big muscle soldier men. All while trying to milk as much money from the consumer as humanly possible while making the most soulless, low effort movies they possibly can, while also at the same time, spitting all over a beloved franchise and trying to ruin its image (mission accomplished)

    • @JuwanBuchanan

To be the honest, they should had just left the franchise alone after JP3. Now people are going to bitch about the Dinosaurs being around civilization because it'll be cartoonish and not very realistic. These are wild animals and most of them will see you as food. JW3 has a big hill to climb to make these animals believable around humans, without them causing problems to ecosystems and the environment.
Jurassic World should never had happened period and I love this franchise.

That's because the new ones are absolutely awful and have completely lost touch on what Jurassic park was. And back then all they had in mind was sequels and didnt care to take the time and make a good one. The original Jurassic park is the only real good movie in the entire franchise. Atleast the old sequels still kept the feel of Jurassic park. The new ones feel like a 2010's action movie blockbuster popcorn movies and forgets everything that makes the originals good, even destroying what made them good

If I may add and this goes back to the “Nublar having the last dinosaurs on Earth” point. No one knew about the new animals that were cloned on Sorna or anything like that. All the Public knew was that Sorna ended up getting a lot of it’s dinosaurs removed for JW. That’s all they knew, they don’t know if Sorna was already in disarray or not, or if all the dinosaurs were moved to Nublar or even if any escaped Sorna. Even we do don’t know for sure. We don’t have much more knowledge then the public has in the franchise. So I think Sorna still has a possible chance of having some dinosaurs remaining.
Plus, having both Nublar and Sorna gone would be just completely copying the novels. Leaving at least one that’s still not in top shape would actually be better tbh.

Oh wow hearing that interview on the shaving cream, it makes a lot more sense on why it's not a cheesy easter egg in Dominion but a nod to the thread Spielberg had left

One of my best memories as a child was watching JP at the theater with a few friends. At the beginning of the movie the theater went completely dark and TRex footsteps began thundering throughout the theater, they were so loud that they literally shook your seat. My friends and I were just staring at eachother in the dark, all you could see was the whites of our eyes OPENED WIDE! Buttcheeks clenched x10. 🤣 I'll never forget how JP made me feel.

JP1 came out when I was 6. My mom took me to see it in theaters and I ended up in her lap. JP series has been my favorite movie series ever since

I always have loved The Lost World. I wanted to watch it all the time as a kid and still will choose to watch it now over something else.

It's always a pleasure to hear from you, Klayton.
To answer your final question about JW3: they can do whatever they feel like, wether it be going back to one of the islands (presumably Sorna?),
show what develops on the mainland, or both... as long as they make a good job. I think the direction taken in Fallen Kingdom speaks clearly, but I wouldn't be disappointed
in seeing people approach to the islands for some reason: all they need is close the circle the best way they can, just like they did with TLW finale.
I know it's kind of a generic expectation, but to me it's just as simple as that... for now, at least. :)
