I love this series! I share many of your interests, including space exploration and stuff like this. It's great to see these kinds of videos going out there to show people that Star Wars isn't JUST a science fantasy.

you know that if the US military's budget was reduced by 80% it would still be the highest in the world? Imagine if we redirected all that to NASA.

    • @rouninpanda6318
      @rouninpanda6318 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

80% is too excessive. That'll just force separate many service members and contractors. Realistically we could reduce it by maybe 10%, enforce better oversight of spending, and reevaluate existing overpriced contracts. We could also refurbish social programs and eliminate useless ones like the DoE and corporate subsidies. Imagine what NASA could do with even just 5% of the budget.

    • @aidanbowie5391

RouninPanda yeah, It's saddening that the US puts military on a higher priority than stuff we actually need.

+Joshua Rafaeil We suck at asymmetrical warfare, but we are great at invasions - Iraq's actual military didn't last long, it was just the insurgents that came afterwards that poked holes in the plan.

Correcting one giant inaccuracy: The USA and Japan send supply ships to the ISS. In the USA, the Cygnus and Dragon cargo ships make regular flights. The Japanese H-II is another. Dragon is due to fly again on April 6th. The H-II is scheduled for another flight in December of 2016. Cygnus is scheduled to fly the 23rd of March, just next week, replacing a Cygnus that departed the space station in February.

Steps to fund NASA in America
    Step 1- grab a hatchet
Step 2- take the US military budget
Step 3- be like Jason in the horror movie and slash it to death
Step 4- give a shit tone more money to NASA, like 5%

Soviet union: first satellite, first man in space, first woman in space, first to orbit the earth, first to launch a space station, first first to land an unmanned spacecraft on venus, mars (landed on but was destroyed) and the moon, first spacewalk and first dog in space
United States: first man on the moon
And somehow we won the space race

By the title I thought it was going to go into the technical aspects of space stations in Star Wars which basically breaks all the rules of physics, but I was pleasantly surprised you talked about our real life space stations. I always thought it funny that people find movies and tv shows about space more interesting than real people in actual space through history and right now.

There was a mutiny on Skylab... The crew had an intense work schedule, requiring them to perform complex scientific experiment, every waking minute, of every day. Eventually the crew rebelled and refused to communicate with NASA, until they accepted their demands that breaks be included in the schedule, and days off to relax.

Might want to look into the US Air Force MOL Space Station program designed at the same time Apollo was. It was run by the NRO- National Recon Office, head of the "secret" US Space program, using extra Apollo capsules/parts built under the original Apollo budget, but as a black program. Also MIR itself was an Armed Space station, it had a 50mm cannon attached to it, which took out a decaying Soviet satellite in a test fire.

Could you add a caption about Commercial Crew program missions to re-supply the space-station? Thanks for capturing the excitement of REAL space exploration! Star Wars take us on the imaginative and human journey. NASA/Roscosmos (its' successor) and other space agencies take us on the real human exploration of space. The station could not have been built without Canadian participation in the form of Canadarm2, the station's robotic arm. It does most of the dangerous work outside the station limiting the danger of spacewalks.

Also secondary question relating to Rebels is would you consider doing a Similar thing for the Clone Wars series as I'd say it is of similar quality just with a slower start. There's some really good storylines in that show I'd rather not spoil and I'd actually like to know your thoughts on them.
