The symptoms of schizophrenia were portrayed a while after his first few brushes with weed, so at this point they were trying to just accurately portray being stoned, and they failed. Even if you want to believe his schizophrenia is the reason for his odd behaviour and not just a bad representation, the army teacher and Lauren both immediately 'recognised' that he was stoned, which indicates they were trying to show what it's like to be high. But that isn't what it is like, so technically if it was to do with his schizophrenia, the teachers/students would most likely see those symptoms instead of 'seeing' he was stoned.
