Andy - great video and really appreciate the sincerity and humility all along the journey. I’m up in Maine, rode a Suzuki DR650 and transitioned to a DRZ400. I really loved this series, thanks for taking me along! You were a great narrator and a fantastic journeyman!
Thanks Christopher, I'm glad to hear that. Sincerity is one of my favorite things to find in any youtuber. I'm guessing Maine has some great riding, I lived in Boston for a couple years last century, but I never got up there; need to someday
Dont know why you couldnt hear me through the screen............THIRD GEAR!!!!!!! LOL. Ive been watching since day one (I think). You have a different way of motovlogging and I find it enjoyable. Keep at it.......Ill be watching.
Damn, That giant engine must have drowned you out! I'm sure the info will stick in my head at this point though, thanks. Really glad you've enjoyed em!
Good video, I’m sure you have a jump pack with you on rides now.. dead battery is always one of my fears.. if ya ever need to bump start the bike again.. put it in 3rd gear. It will work. Safe travels!
Great trip Andy, I really enjoyed watching the adventure and your commentary on the ride. I'm jealous of all the open landscape and would love to ride out there. Steve - XR650L - East Texas Woods
If we have anything, we have wide open spaces around here. You should come over... just the next sate over...never you mind the 12 hours and the windy hell of west Texas ; ) I've been driving to Austin a good amount the last couple years. I try to time west Texas in the dark. Thanks for watching, I'm really glad you enjoyed

I have had a xr650l for a at least a decade now. Well, 2 different ones but, it is so awesome seeing some do this on one! I recently had to buy a new bike and with the crf300rally but my heart is always with the XR650l! I still have it and working on getting it going again to still ride in the dirt! It’s so hard to find anyone doing long trips like on them and thank you for all the videos! You had me laughing a lot and great footage! Thank you! Can’t wait to see more!
It seems like so many people like the xr and get really committed to them. I might be becoming one of em. I'm sure the crf is great too though. I'm glad to hear I got you laughing. Thanks for watching
Hey! Great series! I felt you told a fabulous story. It was fun watching you grow as an adventure rider. I'll be looking forward to your journey south. Thanks for sharing!
Watching from El Paso,TX. Love your series! You are a natural in front of the camera and I love your riding pace. NM is the best! I love the Reserve and Datil area for my rides!
Been watching since the first bike video. Always looking forward to your next one. Hopefully you keep us video updated on your trip to south America. Im 61 yrs old. I ride. I'm in North Carolina.
Really enjoyed the video series and your comical perspectives. Riding to Argentina sounds like an amazing journey. I hope your poker winnings are large and often and that trip is a quick reality. Cheers from Virginia.
Been watching your videos for a while. I live in Silicon valley. Ride a new type Vstrom 800, not that many places to ride within 100 miles. Going to try Hollister ohv this winter. Use to ride there 30+ years ago. Am 71 years old now. Hollister is about 1,5 hours away. Got to try it on big bike.
I lived up in Oakland for like 5 years, went down to San Jose to play cards a lot. Only rode on road back then though. Enjoy the Vstrom, people really seem to like em!
Battery issues just help make it more of an adventure Andy, lol.I have enjoyed your videos, getting a bit too old for that sort of thing myself, but do get out on one of my bikes regularly, mostly my honda cb500x and my little xt250.I'm in Australia,on the coast down from Melbourne.I have excellent places to ride, both dirt and country roads about 1 hour from home.Thank you for putting in the work to film then edit your vids, you're a very entertaining chap, cheers from down under.
In hindsight I totally agree. I'm glad you've enjoyed the videos, more to come for sure. Who knows maybe one day I'll make it down under. The riding looks amazing down there.
I just stumbled across your video and having just completed the New Mexico BDR this May, it was nice seeing the familiar roads and scenery. Sucks about your battery but like you said it could’ve happened in a lot more remote area. 6 miles is nothing compared to what it could’ve been. Ps. put all accessory, including the lights through the ignition switch. What I found useful was a pocket sized battery bank that includes jumper cables.
I use a lithiuim battery for its durability. Unable to bump start my drz400 - in any gear! Thinking of taking a mini jumpstarter because its remote country here in outback australia
I've been wondering about the durability issue. Mine is stuck in there mostly because the size works well for the relocation. It was already on the bike when I got it so i have no idea how old it is... should probably replace it before I head south and I'll for sure have a little jump pack
Keep the XR for your journeys. For me , if you bought a beautiful and most desirable Italian (PromQueen) ADV motorcycle it would take away from all your magic! Unless of course, you win one in a poker game!!!!!! Then it will be appropriate and must do for the journey.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride, Andy. Such a great series. Great film work, editing, commentary, and music. I've never felt such a connection to a vlogger as I did through your videos. I was so hoping your bike would start while you were trying to bump start it in dying daylight. I'm from San Antonio, but lived in the ABQ for about 6 years in the 90s. I still have family in the area and try to get back there at least once a year. I really enjoyed my time there and love the state. I spent quite a bit of time exploring the back roads and dirt roads of the state in my old Nissan 4X4 pickup. I don't own a bike yet, but I'm hoping to get a DRZ soon and do some similar rides. Your series has been really inspiring. When do you launch your adventure south? I can't wait to follow along.
Thanks to you for coming along on the ride, and you're very welcome! All of this is so good to hear, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I spent some time in San Antonio a couple years ago, but I mostly just lost at the poker table, so I can't say I know it...or have fond memories. I'll have to go back sometime and try to know the city better. You gonna go for the new fuel injected DRZ or the tried and true carby? Should be great either way. Enjoy! I'm a notoriously slow starter so the trip will start when it starts, but I'm trying to get my shit together ASAP
Sorry to hear about your experience in SA. There’s actually quite a bit of good culture, music, and food to enjoy here. Hopefully you’ll get to experience that if you return. Definitely going with the tried and true carbed DRZ, for a lot of reasons-reliability, durability, cost, and I don’t need the latest and greatest tech to enjoy the adventure. That’s why I enjoyed watching your approach to the trip. You should make some more videos before you start your trip south. Making a living as a poker player sounds really interesting. Are you back in Santa Fe?

Thanks Michael, the reserve area was fantastic, I'll have to check it out around Datil someday. Don't let the El Paso wind knock you over!

yup, I'll definitely be getting a jump pack of some sort. Did you find one you particularly like? Thanks for watching

That's absolutely the plan and I couldn't agree more. I feel no need for one of those bikes. Nice to see you again, Kelly
Just take a shower and go to bed
Did do and it was good : )
I came back safely and enjoyed it I went with 5 guys , you have make everyone go 70% or their ability or it becomes a race very soon
