Yes. My father used to take my brother and I fishing in the York River there. We would put in under the Coleman Bridge. Several times we went into the historic part of town and checked things out plus we did the battlefield. This was in the late 70s so I know it is a bit different now. I love your videos they are awesome. Thanks.

Yorktown was a town we almost considered living in. We love this town and it's rich history . The people are so friendly but in the end we picked Richmond, Va. because it was closer to
our family . WE try to make it there every year around this time. Great Video Lauren . You hit all the great sites. Thank You for the wonderful tour. Sending you best wishes from Richmond, Va Jim and Harriet

On thing that people may want to know is that you can bike the tour roads for miles. We ride in the park at least once a week on a 8-15 miles ride. There's even a cut over to the Newport News park at George Washington's encampment at the top of the turn around that adds another 5 miles of gravel road that is a complete circle. I usually get a beer at the Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters after our ride on the Sunday mornings, great place. It's also one of the best places for ice-cream in the summer. We walk our dog there a few times a week as well, just an amazing historical place. Thanks for pointing out all of the great stuff going on there!

So I grew up on the other side of the bridge and when we went to the beach Yorktown is where we went. Though the Riverwalk wasn't always that nice and the museum is newer. It is one of my favorite places to go and hangout.

@@LaurenZRay I think you covered most of it but it is part of the historical triangle, Yorktown, Williamsburg, Jamestown. Since you love history, you have to go to the Jamestown Rediscovery site. It is where the actual Jamestown fort was. It is a vibe and has a great museum there too.
In Yorktown in the summer they do a really cute farmers market that is pretty popular.

Yorktown has a great farmer's market and they do a pirate festival every year. Check out Gloucester next. Really cute downtown, they have a daffodil festival in the spring.

My first job out of grad school was in Yorktown. Honestly I think y’all covered most of it. It’s too bad the Colonial Parkway is closed for repaving since it’s such a beautiful drive.
I know you all have been to the Colonial area already, but Williamsburg would be a great stop on the way. Silver Hand Meadery, Copper Fox Distillery and Column 15 coffee are some really cute and unique spots. Food for Thought would be a good place to get some tasty and hearty vegan food. Waller Mill Park is a city park that offers boat and kayak rentals on the reservoir which would be really pretty during fall foliage. I hope y’all have a fun and spooky ghost tour!

I do a lot of research and remembered this account of oysters in the York River which was very entertaining.
From: Thomas Butler Gunn Diaries, Volume Nineteen.
    April 5, 1862. Before Yorktown.
-- Anon Heine rode up in a state of considerable exhilaration; and told me there was a house, to the right, beyond a field and peach orchard, from which the inhabitants had fled... who had plenty of oysters from the adjacent York River. So I rode off in search of a meal... A piece of silver brought me a can full of oysters... Gaining the house we found a capital supper set out in the basement, roast and raw oysters, ham, corn-cake and excellent coffee...
