- The Weather Channel launches into their severe "Red Mode" for the first time with the new graphics that rolled out almost exactly a year ago. This is the first time that TWC has activated "Red Mode" for over a year.

Now upgraded to category 5 in post season analysis...and this hurricane season has given America yet another Major hurricane in Idalia ...thankfully only one month is left of 2023's Hurricane season
I feel sad for people who suffered from hurricanes but it also makes me glad I’m not in a state by the ocean or beaches.
I am visiting this video during Ida coverage because Ida was just as dangerous and TWC didn't go into the full red mode as they did during Laura and I wonder why?
I think the most reasonable answer is that they made the bar in the bottom shorter and it wouldn’t look good with the red, so they replaced the red with the white, which in my opinion looks the best.
They also changed the color contrast on the bar when the red mode hit to a lower contrast, before looking blueish, then looking grayish with the white logo. It is hard to notice it at first, but with help of video editing and putting the clips side by side, you can definitely see the difference.
@@jonatosu Yes, I noticed the logo going from blue to white during Laura for Red Mode and then the LOT8s would be red. But during Ida the logo was still blue.
