Once you've put it on a few times you can easily do it in 60 seconds, the easiest thing to do is when you take it off you release all of the tension from the roof hoops.
If you can keep above 40mph you don't get wet unless there's a strong sidewind

If you have a spare wheel on the back you have to add a not inconsiderable time for slacking the wheel off to access the poppers behind it and tighten the thing up afterwards otherwise you spend some more time in the rain finding where the wheel has rolled to (guess how I know?)

First of all: very enjoyable video! I've never even come close to that time with my Caterham roof though. Seems like you did not fasten the velcro connecting the roof to the fold-up-bar from the inside of the car, which is a bloody pain in the ... "rear end". As long as the car is standing you won't notice. But while driving at highway speeds, the roof can easily rip off if it's not fastened there. I myself eventually gave up and got a "Soft Bits" half-hood instead. It is completely open in the back, but you can get it up much faster, it doesn't use up space in the trunk and the front and side windows will not get foggy as easily in the rain. It does allow for quite some draft and even rain in the neck, but seriously: "man or mouse?!" :-)

I’ve seen those roofs. They look pretty cool in my opinion! Good to hear some experiences from an owner :)

actually, If you start at the back with the tension bars down and then fasten it on the screen, there is no tension at all and you can climb in already. I am running a little tether rope from the tension bars which I throw over the roll bar before throwing the hood on so I can rise the tension bars from inside....

Oh yeah. Now do that in the winter buddy when the vinyl has shrunk by about 2-3". Let's see you do those back poppers up then lol

Haha! I hadn't even thought of that. It was pretty simple on this hot day. I recently had a 420R on a cooler weekend and found the roof much harder to put on!

There is a video by Caterham - Euan Milne is the guy in the vid - whereby he shows just how the correct way to install the roof.
Your time was excellent! Ive never been able to get anywhere near those times. Well done.

I had this car over the weekend, and although I didn't use the roof other than to show what it looks like, I found it took less than a minute to unfold and put on. You can loosen the straps to stop the roof bars from collapsing again. Another way, which I discovered accidentally while filming, is to slide the straps down the sides of the bottom bar. Both are a lot less fiddly than wrestling with it to hold it in place.

Yes, the trick of sliding the straps down the rear bar also allows you to leave the straps at the fully tensioned length so the roof can be brought to drum tight just by sliding the straps back on top of the bar which is way easier than heaving in the free end of the strap.

Nice vid, my question is...how well does that roof keep the rain out? Hop back in and with a little help from your assistant and a hose we can see how wet you get ?🙂

Not bad for that roof I'd say. Looks ok on too. The worst thing about putting the roof on must be the simple fact that it's raining, and you have to drive that in the wet ha ha

Haha, I imagine the couple of minutes it takes to put on would feel like hours when it’s raining!

I developed a technique that is really quick - put your left foot in, crouch down and then fire yourself through the hole until your head nearly exits the left side and then pull your right leg in. You need to be on better than nodding terms with the passenger of course.
