Holy cow Sam. You just defined me in a nutshell!! I have bought so many programs (including CA) and just am lost to figure out what I want to do long term.
Hey Sam, Neil Hansen here on Vancouver Island. Welcome to the west coast Brother Man! I only got you a first payment on 2.0 when my Dad's health started to dive off and needed my attention, then he actually died and we had his funeral about a week ago. He had an awesome life, was able to see everyone before passing, did so in 24 hrs comfortably and had an exceptional service. The stress has caught up to me and my back is now out so work is suffering(construction) but I'm going to muster up rest off course and get'r done. Your a cool man... keep up the good work and don't let the people failing disappoint.
The opportunity of building a consulting business has been made very easy to enter, the barriers of entry are not the problem any longer. Once upon a time, it was very expensive and complicated to begin trading as a consultant, but now just about anyone with an internet connection can publish a 'shingle' and open their doors. But this is not the crucial part, it is the mechanics of delivering your solutions, defining your actual sphere of action-and then communicating these solutions to the right people!
‘Spend 55 minutes defining the problem and 5 minutes solving it.’ That’s a very interesting way of thinking of problem solving and it makes total sense. Thanks for sharing this Sam!
Hah! I was at the pinnacle of confusion today and saw this video. I’m going to get off social media now put my phone on airplane mode and define my problem and put together the action. Thanks for the timely advice Sam!
I don’t know exactly how I found you but I feel like I just found the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Lol. This one video is right where I’m at right now. I am all over the place and literally clearing out the baggage now. I get it and I’m eliminating one problem after the next. I have been blind to noise! So many people, responsibilities, nonsense time and money takers... junk! this is Perfect! Thank you so much!! 😊
2021 Still so usefull !! thanks so much Sam !! I got two big take aways. 1 Defining the problem is the path to business success 2. Eliminating distractions is the way to take my business to success . And I feel like I know it but i keep complicating myself. Not any more.
"I have my phone in airplane mode most of the time and in my drawer." LOVE it. I did the exact same thing for awhile. But now I've mastered the art of just keeping my phone next to me and just checking it for a few seconds every hour.
Hi Sam Ovens, Great analysis and overview of most people's productivity issues. Your talk allowed me to see a simple illustrated animated story line of a person's developing life. Simple creatures we are. Maybe when we have unresolved issues of mind and heart, it could be like fibrilation. Your story seems to encourage a form of defibrillation to return the body to proper functioning, get rid of "baggage and distractions" and identify a purpose, create clarity. Brilliant.
The very first thing in the morning before work I just sit down for a few minutes and write my priority list. What is it, what I have to do before everything else to conquer the day? After doing this, my days became so much easier and stress free. The focus comes by itself. I’ve realized how many of my colleagues are under constant pressure and stress. Week after week I see people get sick leave. I think the correlation is quite obvious. If you do everything at once and all is important, you’ll never achieve any positive results, whether in life, nor job, nor anywhere else. Especially because we have limited hours a day, we have no time to do everything. Sorting out unimportant things is truly a game changer.
I find these videos valuable! Keep making them Sam. I really like your approach to these - Keep things simple! Everyone explains business like advanced calculus when in-fact customers view the business like basic arthimetic.
Thanks, Is simple, find the problem that dont allow get the goal AND solve It, dont ask people for help, you just need define the problem AND work on it
Just like what Gary Keller says: “Multitasking is a lie”

He is telling the truth. Multitasking is the art of spreading yourself thin and being average or less than average in skill. See also secretary's pay per hour.
Stop confusing yourself - Define that problem and solve it! Most people don't know what to do because they don't know what they want. This leads to confusion and frustration because you feel you should be doing something but you don't know what because you don't have a clear goal. Human being gets satisfaction and joy out having a clear goal and making steady progress to attain it. If you don't have a clear question about your problem, it means your confused. So figure out what you want, do you want to get more clients? Do you want to build automation systems and processes so you can save more time? To know what to do, you need to know what you want, long-term. Step 1. Figure out what you want - Take some time away to think - write it down, define Step 2. Find the best possible action to solve the problems "If I had 1 hour to solve a problem, I'd spent 50 minutes defining the problem" - Einstein Most of problem-solving is problem-defining. It's almost impossible to solve a problem if it isn't defined. And when it's defined, it's basically solved. If you scatter your time and attention around on a bunch of different things but doesn't get closer to you what you want, we have a problem. Don't get confused looking at other people on social media and on the internet and see what they're doing. If they have a fancy sports car and they say to focus on Instagram stories to get clients, and you think that's what you need to do as well... that's some messed up logic. All business is... 1. Pick a Niche 2. Find the biggest Problems 3. Find the best Solution Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. This is the only thing that matters, can you solve the problem or not? Don't worry about these small things like what clothes successful people wear, how your Facebook profile looks, what accent you have etc etc. Life is like this as well. Life is about solving problems, and solving problems is about defining them. 1. Set objective 2. Define problem 3. Find out how other people solved the problems 4. Solve it (if you can't just solve it right now, learn how to solve it) It's as simple as that... 1. What are you trying to achieve? Think, what do you really want? 2. Now, what's stopping you from getting it? 3. How are we going to get you to do it so we can achieve it? Why do some people succeed and others fail in business? Well, there are people who focus and work hard on the problem, defining it and learning how to solve it. Consuming the right information that will help propel them forward. Then there are other people who's lives are so chaotic "They're listening to 50 different people on 19 different podcasts, 15 different email lists, they're 2 pages in on 19 books, they got another 6 coming from Amazon, they're in 6 courses, they've got 4 businesses and thinking about starting 9 more" Until you clear out the baggage, you're not going to have the head state to do anything. The only way to really focus is just to remove all the distractions around you. SO, sit down with a pen and ask yourself: "What am I trying to achieve?" "What is the best way to achieve that?" ...Whatever that is, do that task. Don't do anything else until it's done. That's how you get things done.
I do agree skill matters. To many entrepreneurs trying to make money and giving advice on things they personally never accomplished or are actually good at.
Just had my first high paying client with my Social Media Marketing agency discontinue his service. Have been in a bit of a lull the last few days but this video really helped me begin to sort myself out from this learning opportunity. Thanks for all the value Sam.
Sam I don't use Social Media, but I have my Webinar done, and testing Facebook Ad's since 3 days for 5 days, but in this time. I have nothing to do, and that's make me unhappy, and I consume social media again. What to do, when is time to wait for something, but you can't start another project because you want to focus on that first. Thanks, and your course is AMAZING SAM.
Sam this is the most beneficial video I've watched on TH-cam in a very long time. How you laid everything out has turned the lightbulb on. Can't thank you enough!
Perfect Sam; All you videos are awesome, please dont stop making such videos, I highly appreciate it and it is very useful and full of simple secrets, thank you man
Seriously this video has helped me tremendously. From time to time I usually rewatch certain videos of youve made and this one might be the best one. I've made a note on my computer with the key points of this video and anytime I don't know where to start or I feel confused I look at it. I struggled thinking by just doing anything that I was making progress but spending the time to map and ask the important questions so then I can execute has been a game changer. Much Mahalos Sam! Definitely want to buy your course one day soon.
Thank you again Sam. Really I was confused and feeling really anxious but defining my vision mission and principles made my sacrifices more effective, as you said in other video it's not about sacrificing the queen is about winning the game. Keep up with the fantastic work.
Just beginning on my journey of entrepreneurship. This video was a real eye opener and kick up the backside. I really need to work on my habits and mindset before I focus on tactics and strategies. Thanks a lot!
All your videos are amazing Sam. it is really so true what you are saying. highly appreciate sharing with us your knowledge and experience. All the best
These videos are so good. Sam you make some of my favorite business / lifestyle / motivational videos on TH-cam. Refreshingly free of bullshit, just nice and simple and backed-up by results
Another way of looking at it or another method +/ technique. Solve your own problem, sell & scale. Validation is important &/ being able to influence your niche.
Yeah I really like your productivity thoughts and systems Sam, they are really helpful. One thing that helps a lot for motivation is having a deeper and more meaningful "why." Many people have a surface level "why" so they have more of a surface level attraction to their end destination. Fill in your heart with that meaningful destination/goal, build certainty around it through repeatedly seeing it, visualizing it, and feeling it, and you will turn up that magnetism 10x until it inevitably becomes true. There are actually ways to architect and predictably find a stronger "why" in someone's life, but most people just don't know how to do it. And those who did just "stumbled" across it through luck.
There is always competition. When you have competition it becomes clear that competence hierarchies are a real thing despite just wishing it into existence you actually have to be better or at least be better at perception. You can rebrand anything. First set the illusion. Next make the illusion the new perception of your customers life. Good vid though good points solid basic advice.
When I first saw your TH-cam ads I was like, "Okay, who is this guy posing in front of a cool looking bike? Who's he think he is and what's he tryna sell me.." subd today.
In the zone is the same as middling it. Often if you speed up you'll slow down unless you know what you're doing. The old builders saying 'Measure twice cut once'.
Sam, at 19:20 you talk about "getting rid of the baggage". How did you, as a young guy, manage to deal with people when you got rid of the distractions in your life? For example: at your age, when you don't drink, go out, etc, people look at you as if you're an alien. They think you're boring, that you're "wasting your life" because all you do is work, and "you need to have fun because you only live once". This usually leads to frustration and isolation. How did cope with this feedback from people your age (especially when you were starting out)?
I absolutely adore this young man I adore your mind just haven't gotten off the ground yet pretty much stuck in the house like the lady with so many kids in a big old shoe she didn't know what to do that's me I have so many homemaking skills I'd like to show you some of my design pieces soon and I'd like to start my consulting firm something I've been having on my mind for the last 10 years

I just feel lack of motivation most of the time.. I feel drained.. Probably mental fatigue from lack of focus.. I have too many interests.. I feel I can't choose one unless I've tried them all.. I've dabbled in different stuff here & there & enjoy just so so many things but one can only walk so many paths, I just honestly feel lost!!! That's not even the half of it..
"They're listening to 50 different people on 19 different podcasts, 15 different email lists, they're 2 pages in on 19 books, they got another 6 coming from Amazon, they're in 6 courses, they've got 4 businesses and thinking about starting 9 more"
Did anyone else honestly laugh out loud at this part? 😂😂😂
this video was absolutely spot on, Sam! Very well done, and thanks for sharing!
this is awesome! so true
Yeah I did too. Need a slap in the face.
Stefan James has a brutal video on this called “The Master vs. The Dabbler”
lmaoooo
When he said, "People need a slap..." I bust out laughing. lmao He's right though.

Sean Jung I would like to add to 2. Model and copy the actions of other people who’ve achieved what you want to achieve
Step 1: Define the objective
Step 2: Define the problem
* What’s in the way of success?
* Spend most of your time clearly defining the problem
* (Einstein said if given an hour to solve a problem, he’d spend 55 mins. defining the problem and 5 solving it)
Step 3: Model people who’ve already achieved what you want
Step 4: Eliminate all distractions and execute
* To achieve focus, you must eliminate distractions
"Most of problem solving is problem defining" I fell like each video Sam makes can be turned into a book. Gold!
Well done Sam & thank you. Much of what you've said in this video reminds of the following:
“All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”
― Blaise Pascal, Pensées
Kick ass video. You've described what it takes to make it and took all the fluff out. You're rich for a reason.
My take on this great information. Thanks Sam, simple but profound. Helped pull me out of chaos
Step 0: Good prerequisite, find out what you want
• what do you value? Why?
• what leads you to fulfillment? Why?
• what is your mission? Why?
Step 1. Define the problem
• what are you trying to do?
• what's stopping you from doing it?
• why are you trying to do it?
Step 2. Evaluate the validity of the problem
• what do you value that will be satisfied by doing the thing you're trying to do?
• what are the reasons for doing this thing?
• what will solving this problem do for you?
• how will solving this problem further your mission and actualization?
Step 3. Solve the problem
• what is the best possible action to take to solve that problem?
• who has solved that problem and may have the answers?
• how can you make this solution feasible in your circumstances/environment?
Tips:
• set the standards low to begin with to get started, then raise them as you build confidence. Don't expect much from yourself in the beginning when solving a hard problem, your solution or execution of it may be misguided. Expecting success and getting failure is personally one of my downfalls and can lead to poor self esteem. As you try things, evaluate the actions/solutions with the highest return on time/energy input, and do more of those things until the problem is solved.
• do what you can to be in flow states while doing the work. Challenge yourself but don't overwhelm yourself. Steer yourself to be completely free from inner conflict in the perceived validity of carrying out the solution and simply make peace with doing the work.
• setup your environment to make the solution the default state, rather than the actions which don't solve/make the problem worse.
Thanks, spot on
Focus on the concern and create some solutions. 💯
You calmed my mind down quickly. Been procrastinating the whole day! God Bless Sam❤
Holy cow Sam. You just defined me in a nutshell!! I have bought so many programs (including CA) and just am lost to figure out what I want to do long term.
I read flow and it blew my mind. I wish I found this book 8 years ago when I was struggling with fulfillment.

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi an easy way to remember his name is "chick sent me high" at least that's what my old psychology teacher used to say!
I believe focusing on the ends will uncover the means to get there - cheers for the video.
Brilliant! This video replaces most self help and business books
Hah! I was at the pinnacle of confusion today and saw this video. I’m going to get off social media now put my phone on airplane mode and define my problem and put together the action. Thanks for the timely advice Sam!

"I have my phone in airplane mode most of the time and in my drawer."
LOVE it. I did the exact same thing for awhile. But now I've mastered the art of just keeping my phone next to me and just checking it for a few seconds every hour.
This should automatically pop up as soon as someone clicks on their 10th "How To" video of the day.
Exceptional explanation about focus & distraction relationship!
Hi Sam Ovens,
Great analysis and overview of most people's productivity issues.
Brilliant.
"People need a slap." LMAO
Man, I need to get me an Australian accent. Then I'll be successful. *SLAP*
Sounds exactly like Murray Hewitt from Flight of the Concords.
He's right

He is telling the truth. Multitasking is the art of spreading yourself thin and being average or less than average in skill. See also secretary's pay per hour.
It's just a greedy
Excellent. No other words..
You are an enlightenment to humanity! Hope people understand what you say.
Right starting again from
Now !!
Step 1. Figure out what you want - Take some time away to think - write it down, define
Step 2. Find the best possible action to solve the problems
"If I had 1 hour to solve a problem, I'd spent 50 minutes defining the problem" - Einstein
Most of problem-solving is problem-defining.
1. Pick a Niche
2. Find the biggest Problems
3. Find the best Solution
Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be. This is the only thing that matters, can you solve the problem or not? Don't worry about these small things like what clothes successful people wear, how your Facebook profile looks, what accent you have etc etc.
Life is like this as well. Life is about solving problems, and solving problems is about defining them.
1. Set objective
2. Define problem
3. Find out how other people solved the problems
4. Solve it (if you can't just solve it right now, learn how to solve it)
It's as simple as that...
Then there are other people who's lives are so chaotic
"They're listening to 50 different people on 19 different podcasts, 15 different email lists, they're 2 pages in on 19 books, they got another 6 coming from Amazon, they're in 6 courses, they've got 4 businesses and thinking about starting 9 more"
Until you clear out the baggage, you're not going to have the head state to do anything.
The only way to really focus is just to remove all the distractions around you.
SO, sit down with a pen and ask yourself:
"What am I trying to achieve?"
"What is the best way to achieve that?"
...Whatever that is, do that task. Don't do anything else until it's done.
That's how you get things done.
I do agree skill matters. To many entrepreneurs trying to make money and giving advice on things they personally never accomplished or are actually good at.
Check out the video and let me know if this helps you? I will be personally reading/replying to the comments myself (not my team...).

These videos are so good. Sam you make some of my favorite business / lifestyle / motivational videos on TH-cam. Refreshingly free of bullshit, just nice and simple and backed-up by results
Great video on focus.
Another way of looking at it or another method +/ technique. Solve your own problem, sell & scale. Validation is important &/ being able to influence your niche.
Thanks a lot Sam. This teaching today has really helped me to identify a skill i need to master = the art of defining the question/problem.
I love you man. You are a true inspiration.
Yeah I really like your productivity thoughts and systems Sam, they are really helpful.
One thing that helps a lot for motivation is having a deeper and more meaningful "why."
Many people have a surface level "why" so they have more of a surface level attraction to their end destination.
Thanks Sam.

In the zone is the same as middling it. Often if you speed up you'll slow down unless you know what you're doing. The old builders saying 'Measure twice cut once'.
Thanks Sam. Very well articulated
Thank you Sam, this video really helps a lot. I enjoy how you explain the things to us!

I sure enjoyed this thank you so much sam
Sam, at 19:20 you talk about "getting rid of the baggage".
How did you, as a young guy, manage to deal with people when you got rid of the distractions in your life?
For example: at your age, when you don't drink, go out, etc, people look at you as if you're an alien.
They think you're boring, that you're "wasting your life" because all you do is work, and "you need to have fun because you only live once".
This usually leads to frustration and isolation.
How did cope with this feedback from people your age (especially when you were starting out)?
Focus! Thanks Sam, great talk.
Such a great video. Great content, thank you. Subscribed!
Sam you are God 🙌🙌
Kudos for those insights
I absolutely adore this young man I adore your mind just haven't gotten off the ground yet pretty much stuck in the house like the lady with so many kids in a big old shoe she didn't know what to do that's me I have so many homemaking skills I'd like to show you some of my design pieces soon and I'd like to start my consulting firm something I've been having on my mind for the last 10 years
Soooo well said. Thank you Sam!
Thank you for this messaging, Sam.
Wow, Thank you Sam.
Nice, good to see useful content on TH-cam. One thing you missed is people are lazy and distracted.
1.) Define what you want
2.) Choose the best possible action
3.) Declutter your mind and life so you can FOCUS
(get rid of smart phones, social media, and alcohol)
All business is soliving problems for other people. Find a niche audience. Speak to them to learn what they want and need. This gives you clarity on how to provide for these people.
"If I had one hour to solve a problem, I'd spend 55 minutes defining it and 5 minutes solving." - Albert Einstein
Really enjoyed this - Thanks Sam!
Thank you Sam!
That's not even the half of it..
amazing content again and again.. if i knew this before....
