Hey Sam I'm really glad you touched upon having a job and a business. Wouldn't this vary on the individual as some of your students started their business while working full-time jobs?

  • @ProjectHighestSelf

I'll add to the point of going all in your business. Realize that once you start seeing some real success in your own business, other's will reach out to you for help. You'll have friends & family members that see you as their only source of success. And expect you to help them all throughout the way to reach the same level of success as you or higher. Nothing inherently wrong with that. But they'll do so expecting to do the minimal amount of work and waiting for your to tell them some 'Secret' that'll instantly skyrocket them to success. The only solution you'll have at that point is accepting them for who they're and setting up clear boundaries on what you will or will not do. Believe when a lot of people say success doesn't come easy. It really doesn't. You'll have to cut out a lot of people who were close to you, or you're better of not falling for status signaling like Sam talks about in this video with the examples of billionaires in their chevy.

    1. You are where you are because of you. You are responsible for you.
    2. Business is about Solving Problems. Its not about some bright new idea. Find out pain points in your industry & pick one & that becomes your niche
    3. If Entrepreneurship is your goal, you don’t need formal college degrees. An abstraction can never be as good as simulating reality like Reality can
    4. Go all in or go all out. Real good progress requires your full attention. Quit your Day Job if you need to.
    5. Lions don’t care about sheep’s opinions. Take advice only from doers, not talkers.
    6. Cashflow first, Long term Thinking next.
    7. When lost or confused, focus on the customer & what’s best for them.
    8. Stay lean & frugal. Invest back into the business to run the machine better.
    9. Focus is a superpower. Double down on it. Focus & constantly improve your business

I just learned of you today. Wow, I’ve been listening to the wrong people. I got more from this one video than 2 years of “guru” courses that always say, “Don’t worry about the ‘how’ just start.” Well, I always knew 02/24 was when I’d be ready, and I am. All I’m saying is I had 2 years to put good stuff in my brain while I needed to wait. I heard a lot of good things during that time, but this video is gold.

    1. Where you are in life right now is nobodies doing but your own. You are solely responsible.
    2. Business is all about solving problems. Don’t come up with ideas, look for problems.
    3. If you want to start a business you don’t need to go to university.
    4. Starting a business while working a 9-5 job is near impossible. Go all in or get all out.
    5. Lions don’t care about the opinions of sheep. Popularity and opinions are false positives/negatives. Ignore them.
    6. When you first start in business, cashflow should be your #1 goal. When you have cashflow, start thinking long-term.
    7. When you’re lost and confused, focus on the customer and what’s best for them, everything else will follow.
    8. Stay lean and frugal: If you buy things you don’t need, soon you will have to sell things you do need. Be an emperor with clothes.
    9. Focus is a superpower: Keep the main thing the main thing. If you don’t sacrifice for your goal, your goal will become the sacrifice.

Scripture tells us that we can manifest our own realities, one common theme about Jesus, is he always preached faith to his apostles, and that with faith we can do the impossible. Also some religious countries may be poor, but they are statistically happier, and their suicide and depression rates aren't through the roof like the west.

    9 Things I wish I knew at 20:
    1) No one really cares about your struggle, and that is a GOOD thing. Cuz if no one cares, you don't owe anyone anything.
    2) Your parents/family are abusers by nature. Unless they are helping you make money, burn the bridge with them ASAP.
    3) Impressing people is a tragic waste of energy. You only need to impress one person in your life: Yourself.
    4) EVERYONE is addicted to something that makes them feel better: Unhealthy food/drugs, porn, video games, internet shit, social media, message boards...even people close to you. Want to succeed in life? Cut people who partake in this stuff out of your life. Forever.
    5) The most malicious people are the most "generous." The kindest are the most selfish.
    6) The black pill is the most accurate pill, but it is also the most deadly. Nihilism kills.
    7) There is no such thing as "truth." Despite how many people it triggers, moral relativism is very real.
    8) Collectivism and activism is for people who are so bored that they want to push their ideals onto others because they have nothing else to do with their lives.
    9) "No" is the best word in the dictionary.

Epic video, Sam. Keep them coming, I think you’re awesome. I’m not entirely sure about the first point where you mentioned religion. For example, The Middle East was the centre of the world at one point. A lot of the good there was inspired by religion but then colonialism came and you know the rest. It’s still recovering because of that period. I just thought that example was weak but I get what you mean. Either way, keep up the great work :)

2:14 People in rich countries practice these same religions. Ethiopians are not poor because they are Christians like Americans. Cambodians are not poor because their Buddhist like Japanese. Sudan is not poor because they are Muslim like Saudi Arabia. Every religion lives in a dialectic with it the people in it's society.

I do agree with you that going to university isn’t a waste of time though. Because like the main thing you do is solving problems, and think alike with peers. Also you learn can dive interesting topics. And first and foremost, if you want to be an entrepreneur and you fail, you will always have a backup to work basically anywhere with a degree.
But there is also alot of bullshit indeed :)

    9 Things I Wish I Knew When I Was 20
    Sam Ovens
    Summary:
    1. Your life is your fault.
    2. Business = solving problems.
    3. Starting a business > University.
    4. All in OR All out
    5. Forget people's opinions.
    6. Cash flow is king.
    7. Focus on the customer.
    8. Stay lean and frugal.
    9. Focus.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    1. Your current situation is your own fault.
Take control of your life, and let go of having a victim mindset.
    2. Business is all about solving problems.
-a. Find problems by asking groups of people what their problems are
-b. figure out a solution to their problem
-c. the more value the solution has, the more people will pay for it. people want their problems solved
Solve a problem for a niche market
    3. If you want to start a business, you don't need to go to university.
Starting your own business is better than any university course will teach you about business
    4. All in OR All out.
Starting a business will doing a 9-5 is nearly impossible.
    5. Lions don't care about the opinions of sheep.
Popularity is usually a false negative or a false positive.
You've been conditioned your entire life, and being a black sheep may be uncomfortable
Non-entrepreneurs advice/opinions is not valuable - don't argue with them, rather focus on your own results
    6. When you first start in business, CASH FLOW is your #1 goal.
Once you've got good cash flow, only then focus on long-term goals.
First priority is survival. Second priority is long-term thinking.
    7. Focus on the customer.
When you're lost, focus on the customer and everything else will follow.
    8. Stay lean and frugal.
If you buy things you don't need, soon you will have to sell things you do need.
Don't strangle your business for your lifestyle.
Focus on being the best in the game, not the toys.
People who are successful don't need to look like it.
    9. Focus is a superpower.
Once you've figured out a solution, don't lose focus from it. And keep making it better.
Your goal requires sacrifice, otherwise your goal will be the sacrifice.

so true about legalistic religion so true, you walk around feeling guilty all your life, but that is associated to toxic legalistic religion sadly, as healthy religion is understanding that God gave us a mind to use and gifted us to be creators and creative like God as it says in the bible we were made in the image of God(food for thought for you perhaps) when you understand God spiritually metaphysically as I do you see God in a totally different light ultimately it is living your life in love and faith- unconditional love divine love and faith in a higher power intelligence creativity wisdom than our mere human being selves. Don't let your achievements and your wealth trick or deceive you that you are invincible because sorry to say as human beings we are limited whether we like to acknowledge that or not. I left a career in the music industry that could have made me famous and generated millions but i walked away for my own reason and the main one was that I was not going to sell my soul for the love of success fame or money...

At 20, I wish I knew how to put a muzzle on a statue and a motorbike inside my high rise apartment. That would have saved me from all types of problems. Heck, I probably wouldn't even have to worry about death and taxes anymore... If only I had hired the same bloody interior decorator as Sammy, then my life would have been easy peasy.

Do you listen to business ideas for investment?
TH-cam is helpful however, it takes serious searching to find real, authentic help. TH-cam has millions watching useless shit. This is a PROBLEM for those who actually want to take immediate action!
We need somewhere to go for this...that's all I can say without giving too much away.

If you look closely at the reflection of Sam Ovens back of head, you can see his control panel with the on and off switch.

Agree with all those Sam. I would add one extra......the importance on health, wellness and fitness. You could have all the money and success in the world but if you don't have these........what is the point?!?!?!?!

Many people say that they’ll “sleep when they’re dead”, but with that mentality you might not have to wait that long. Eat healthy, sleep properly and be a little active each day. Doing these three simple things will drastically improve quality and length of life. The longer you live and the less issues you have to deal with, the more opportunity for success you’ll get.

That's what people with actual businesses & know how to get money do!
      The others are grifters.
