I remember being at instructor camp under Guro Dan Inosanto and taking some of your classes... while Dan was in the same class! You're one of the most articulate bjj instructors out there.
At a seminar with JJM, someone asked, "Professor, how do I escape a mount without getting punched in the face?" JJM said, "If you let someone mount you, you deserve to get punched in the face."
nobody makes it seem simpler than Machado, IMHO. Now, when you get on the matt it all goes out the window it seems. But after watching his videos I always feel like a black belt lol.
Another thing I remember hearing from a Rickson seminar is that alot of people do it wrong or lazy thus the opponent doesn't get rolled over. He taught the correct way to do the upa, which if they don't do anything to stop or shift their weight they will get rolled.
Good solid detail regarding the opponents head as an indicator. Respectful disagree with the passive/patient approach to escape. One could easily initiate the hip escape without waiting for the attack.
Nice video but when ever I get mounted by a more skilled person it's game over.there are positions and subs in bjj that once reached are impossible to defend. Osssss!
If their hands are busy they aren’t basing out. That’s the time to off-balance them. They have to abandon the attack and base. This obviously may have to be multiple times before you escape but doing this you can keep yourself safe. Just pay attention to when they are busy attacking. I know what you mean though. Sometimes they’re just too good and do nothing wrong. Hope this helps though.
Put yourself in bad positions CONSTANTLY. Stop trying to win for a while and only defend/escape. Get really really good at that, and everything else will become so much easier. The basics like this fail most people because we stop working to make them better, while everyone works to be better at positional control/attacks. The disparity is predictable, but it can be remedied through diligent practice.
All of Jean Jacques' techniques are super practical for anybody. There are so many instructors who teach things that will never work.
Such small details make all the difference. This, this is the kind of thing I seek in jiu-jitsu.
Man! Thank you Master Jean Jacques! An in depth study of both mount escape and mount attack is kind of hard to find. Oss!🥋
Everyone of his videos is pure gold!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.

Thank you Professor 💪❤️🙏

That’s at the old, old school!
great
Awesome
that fart sound in the begining though XD
Always make a dilemma for your enemy
or trilema right John?
Would the upa had worked if he attempted it on the opposite side (as in where the person on mount’s head was angled)?
No because the person on top has his arm free on that side, so he can post his arm to stop from falling that way
