The Chipper Chums' style of speech and mannerisms is a parody of Enid Blyton's "Famous Five" children's books. Those books were also parodied in live action in The Comic Strip Presents : Five Go Mad... which featured members of the cast of The Young Ones you may be familiar with!
This episode makes the most sense if you've grown up reading children's adventure stories by Enid Blyton, or school stories by people like Anthony Buckeridge. Those old fashioned middle-to-upper class exclamations like "Hoorah!" and "I say!", and calling people things "old thing" or "old girl" are fairly typical of those stories. Mind you, they are all pretty wholesome. While there are often thieves or other crooks involved, they are never as f***ed-up as this farmer!!
Did you pick this episode because I suggested it? That would make my month! Personally I think this was one of the most Grizzly, particularly as it's so nicey-nice the rest of the time. As I mentioned before, this episode is also a parody of British book series Famous Five. Also I agree with you about how American's think the British sound. Every time I see a movie, tv show or video game featuring one of my people, we always sound as if we stepped straight out of Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady or Monty Python. Even when they're not trying to make fun of us. Like the TV show Snowpiercer, it was dark and gritty and the one English character literally said "Oh sweet jiminy!"
Honeycomb Animation Also made the show Cartoon Wolves, Witches and Giants, narrated by Spike Milligan, is a children's cartoon series of humorous adaptations of classic fairy tales, featuring a collection of villains including the wily wolf, a wicked witch and an enormous giant. It was written by musician Ed Welch, based on an LP, also performed by Milligan. The Directors and Producers were Simon & Sara Bor of Honeycomb Animation. There were 4 series of 13 episodes and 3 specials produced for ITV from 1995 to 1999. Reruns ran on Discovery Kids (UK) until its defunct in 2007 and later, on CITV from July 2005.
This one by far my favorite episode , those Chipper Chums seem like the happiest kids in the world that is until they scrump for apples and died X_X *if this were adapted into America, the title would be called “Happy Friends Go Stealing”*
So Jacob Rees Mogg and his chums got their comeuppance... Speaking of grizzly tales, I’m looking forward to watching Steve Coogan tonight as J*mmy S*vile in the third episode of BBC’s The Reckoning.
Did, did you just say "Autumn"? NOT "Fall"? Your British passport is in the post... it's my old one, with a screenshot printout of you pasted over the photo. 👍
Weird thing about this tale, was that the children weren’t even gruesome, but rather innocent in what they were doing on their adventure. The one person who was truly gruesome was the farmer, since he shot the dog and had the children killed. For a kids’ program, that is seriously screwed up.
For a moment there I was worried you got hit with some kind of ban. Was checking for the last day and a bit but saw you used the 'community tab' and figured you would update from there if you could. Anyways, lovely bit of Gruesome Tales to enjoy😅👍
Dude! You should make this into a full saga!

Might be because there was a decade-long drought going on when I was growing up, but the most memorable episode for me was 'Watermelon Babies'.
Strange, I thought about this yesterday for no other reason outside from, ‘Wow, that was fucked up,’

I feel this episode is what makes people give the british stereotypes
The first episode I ever saw was one where this boy makes prank phone calls and uses helium to make his voice funnier.
Oh, that's series 4 episode 4 The Gas Man Cometh
Five go mad in Dorset!
Oh gawd, this episode. The first episode of this show I saw and the reason this show lives in infamy in my mind
Dont wrry about the dog it lived. It was bandaged up. 10:10 Farmer shot it in the ass, for some reason.
Well he dies in the comic.
Great Video Taffe316

I can't believe they did my boy Stinker like that!! 😢😭
I say, gosh, what a pretty rotten thing to do.
Yes Fanny used to be a name in the UK it died out of use in the 1930s roughly. This is clearly a skit of the Famous Five.
kinda the point theres an other episode about not crossing farmers fields which ends kinda gorey
Did, did you just say "Autumn"? NOT "Fall"?

I love watching oeople watch this show who aren't british
So glad you watched this one! XD
So what did I learn from this don’t steal apples or I might get turned in to cider.
Nigel Planer's voice is less scary in this episode, whether that was intentional or not I'm not quite sure!🎃🎃🎃
I always thought it was Rik Mayal
Vegetable rights and peace!
Don’t hassle him, man! 😉
@@hannahstevenson27 He does sound like Rik sometimes!😄
Back in 2009 I met the author Jamie Rix during world book day. 😎
The Psycho Farmer!🤣
Wow this brings back memories 😂

Can you upload more grizzly tales for gruesome kids reactions?
Also, and again from a purely personal standpoint: ‘Sweets’ is also pretty fucked up.
It would be more gruesome if the kid in the intro sequence was different in each episode
how did they get away with saying fanny on a kids tv show
Watch Wolf child Pless
and dis is from uk and not usa
Never said it wasn't.
are you still conpleting goodnight sweetheart
