Had a second brand new Bose Revolve delivered so I could listen to my music in Stereo. After trying to charge the speaker up the red light was still flashing after two or three hours (wasted time I'll never get back) I went on Bose site, and tried updating to my speaker. You were right, the Bose site lied to me saying my speaker was up to date. I did what you showed, and on the sixth attempt at holding down ADV and pressing the up then down arrow, I got the real update, and the speaker is working fine now. Bose should be paying attention to you. I waded through loads of crap before I found you. You are amazing and I wonder how wizards like you get all your technical expertise. Thank you so much! I was about to contact Bose and ask for an exchange of speaker because I thought the speaker was faulty. Bose have a lot to thank you for - you are amazing. xx

I tried six months ago this way several times nothing heppen, then after about three months again and there was still a red light. Today I decided to get rid of the Bosse rag but I gave it one last try. Miracle! Despite the lack of a version update (the same again) this time the speaker " rise" to the living with 100% battery. You are blessed author!
I order a cradle, thinking that the charging connector was damaged. no luck. I watch your video and solve my problem and save my soundlink. a big THANK YOU!!

So, I then spent an hour online with Bose support only for them to say that the best option is replacing both of my Revolve speakers. They offered the "discounted" price of $220/speaker for a replacement or $90/speaker for repairs. I tried your instructions and they are both working without issues. Thanks again.

I have spent hours trying to sort out my Bose soundlink mini II flashing red light, watched many other videos, trying to resetting and so on, till I came across your video, which EXPLAINS VERY WELL the correct procedure for pressing the ADV / UP DOWN buttons repeatedly, to get a software update. Worked for me 🙂. Haven't used the device for 5 months and when I turned it on, it just didnt charge. The bose connect app was showing that the device is up to date. I followed the steps that u suggested and the device started charging again. Thanks man !! I will go now and give one star for bose connect app 🙂
Oh man I was so happy doing this and seeing a green light come on 2 times during the update but when it finished it was flashing red again. 😢 I’ve now done it 3 times thinking that the battery might be getting enough charge to revive it but no joy. thanks this helped me also. I first thought I had to hold down ADV keys at the same time but when I did them separately it worked. And you are right, the sight first said it was up to date. it is now back, thanks again.
Thanks so much. I contacted Bose last night and I was told to mail in for repair which could take up to five weeks, and would cost $80. But with your quick video my speaker is working again, and I didn't have to spend a dime!!!
April 2022: My Bose Soundlink Revolve speaker won't charge with FLASHING AMBER/YELLOW light. Reset, factory reset, changing cables, etc., nothing helped. Thanks to this awesome tutorial, I tried and there was a pending update. After the update, the charging worked. Thanks a million!
Just wanted to leave a comment. My Bose speaker didn't have the flashing red light, but it just wouldn't charge. updated it via this method and voila, the sound when plugging it in came back and it's now charging. Wouldn't have ever guessed that you have to update a friggin bluetooth speaker. thanks a bunch, man.

I had seen the "ADV up arrow down arrow" but they said to hold the Shift key - WRONG! What really helped was watching you do it then realizing (as you did/say) I needed to do it faster AND IT WORKED!!! OMG! It's charging again! After six years of faithful service I got the flashing red light of doom. This worked like a charm although I didn't have to do the adv up/down. THANK YOU! EDIT: Seems like my unit goes red light every time I lose track or don't hear the low battery warning and it loses all battery power. I've resorted to this several times now and have now had to ADV up/down and it has worked every time. Again. THANK YOU!

You are better than the official Bose service center in India who would charge me 2300 for shipping and another 2300 for diagnostic and if the battery had to be replaced it would be 5000 I saved 10,000 INR . God bless you❤

Excellent! Thank you. I assumed the battery was shot and started to tear it apart to replace the battery. That battery is not meant to be consumer replaced. It even has those pesky security torx screws. I was planning to toss the speaker into the trash. Then I found your video. Your procedure was successful. The only problem I had was the "ADV" keys. I was holding all three down at the same time. Nothing happened. Then I tried each key in sequence and BINGO! The update ran all the way and now I've got tunes pouring out of my speaker. 8-)

I went on holiday for 2.5 weeks turning my charger off and when I got back had the red light issue and couldn't turn the speaker back on. tried all the resets, nothing worked, went to the Bose update app and it said all the software was up to date. I even tried to remove the battery to get a new one but it's hard soldered in. I found your video, thought I'd have a look even though it's a different product. Did your ADV up down trick in the download, and it reloaded the software and now its out of its doom loop and charges again! Thank you!!!!
Unlike the garbage instructions on the BOSE support pages - this actually works. I needed to do it a lot more than 4 (who knows why ?) but I finally was able to properly reload the firmware. Thanks for sharing

Revolve+ was out for 4 years, and yes this worked, but with a catch; you need a good computer. My friends computer didnt work so we later got something with a i7 core. And that proved to work. Thanks a bunch.

Does it work with the new update(3.1.1)? The red light returns when the update touches 97 percent. Please help out. Have tried this method 2 3 times but cant get rid of the red blinking light
after hundreds of tried, once came out for up dating. but after that the same problem as you. after 97% then the redlights on again. now, i have to try hundreds of times again until the updating shown.
Hi, I tried to update your method, but the problem persisted. And it is that after hooking it to charge it continues to flash yellow without turning on. I will be grateful if you help me.😪
In my case, the updater says to plug my speaker in to update it. However, it does not recognize that I am plugged in. Power is going through the USB port as it is charging the speaker. Any ideas?

Nailed it! Been trying for months to fix this. I only had it sit for a few days when this happened. I never would have guessed the “ADV up down” trick. It worked the first time I typed it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Absolute life saver!!! So grateful for this video. My experience in case it helps anyone: I had to use the Safari browser for it to work, and had to go through the list of supported products because it wouldn't detect my speaker even though it was plugged in. I did the adv+up+down about 8 - 10 times before it registered, but then it was smooth sailing from there. After it finished updating it said the battery was at 100% charge, so it wasn't even a dead battery problem to begin with, it was just some weird malfunction! I've only owned this speaker for just over a year, there was no way I was going to pay $149 for them to 'repair' it. I've treated it super well the whole time I've had it, so this glitch smells like built-in obsolescence to me. Thank you so much again!

HOLY...amazing!!! I watched the video thinking what kind of keyboard magic is this, it can't possibly work. Sure enough...couple A D V up/down and it started updating and works great. Thank you very much! btw...this was on a Soundlink Revolve +II.
Does it work with the new update(3.1.1)? The red light returns when the update touches 97 percent. Please help out.

after hundreds of tried, once came out for up dating. but after that the same problem as you. after 97% then the redlights on again. now, i have to try hundreds of times again until the updating shown.

In my case, the updater says to plug my speaker in to update it. However, it does not recognize that I am plugged in. Power is going through the USB port as it is charging the speaker. Any ideas?

Nailed it! Been trying for months to fix this. I only had it sit for a few days when this happened. I never would have guessed the “ADV up down” trick. It worked the first time I typed it.

My experience in case it helps anyone: I had to use the Safari browser for it to work, and had to go through the list of supported products because it wouldn't detect my speaker even though it was plugged in. I did the adv+up+down about 8 - 10 times before it registered, but then it was smooth sailing from there. After it finished updating it said the battery was at 100% charge, so it wasn't even a dead battery problem to begin with, it was just some weird malfunction!
I've only owned this speaker for just over a year, there was no way I was going to pay $149 for them to 'repair' it. I've treated it super well the whole time I've had it, so this glitch smells like built-in obsolescence to me.

i have a different model of speaker but same problem, the red light is blinking and i use my speaker everyday. the speakers model is bose mini II SE SoundLink. it just turned red after i came back from work, does it apply also to the process uv shown on your video? thank you.
