I bet you could do this test over and over and the winner would flip flop. 2 great bows. But ultimately it comes down the each shot, and the user. Loving the content Tim!!
Love to watch videos about shooting. My husband has a Bowtech and I have a Mathews. We both love our bows so found this very interesting. Good job Tim.
Tim it's been a pleasure watching your progression from beginner to what I would now call you( seasoned bow hunter). Not sure if I'm the only one that noticed but your way more accurate by yourself. So that tells me your letting your nerves get the best of you when shooting with others. Just grip it ( not to tight) and rip it young man. Have fun out there. Enjoying the new channel and the banter back and forth between you and MFJJ is hilarious. Glad to see some friendships you made while with Dan haven't diminished. Keep it up.
@Tim Connor Hi Tim love the videos. I have been using a Dji gimbal with my phone lately to self film just thinking it might make your life easier as you can draw a box around yourself & it will track you. I have been thinking of top down drone (B roll) clips too, push the limits mate ABT!...
I really enjoy your videos they flow well, keep your attention and don’t drag on too long! Thank you for editing like that. Two questions, what bow case was that the tan case seemed like a soft case but really durable. Secondly, which camera shoulder clip are you running. I use the Peak Designs clip and was wondering which one you run! Thanks Tim!
I am starting out a youtube thanks to your channel and elk shapes channel. I am loving the content you are producing and I hope we keep getting these stellar videos. I think it would be so helpful to me and other who are starting a channel to see what editing software you are using and maybe a run down on how to use it. Thanks Tim. 100k here WE come!!
I second the opinion regarding the quality of your videos - very cinematic. Since 2010, I have owned two bows: a Mathews Drenalin LD and a Bowtech Revolt X. I shoot each bow nearly the same, although I have more 50 yard, 5-arrow groups that are all touching with the Bowtech than the Mathews. But the Mathews is sooo much more quiet - it may be the better hunting bow due only to that factor. Thank you for the great videos and the informal test.
Love that custom green/orange look on your Mathews 🤘👍, brings me back to my youth in the early 90's when neon colors were everywhere splattered like that on almost everything. I come from more of a hunting bow back ground (never shot or used a target competition bow)but I recently checked out the bowtech at my local shop & got to say it felt AMAZING in hand! It has me seriously considering getting creative with my finances to swing the $1,500 for one.
Hallway shot on the elk is my favorite out there, by far. Pretty sure I hung out there for a half hour or so before you guys caught up to me on Sunday. Another killer vid, brother!
Another great video with some really good content. Your shooting is definitely money and I'm hoping to see something from a TAC event. Watching you shoot and Work on your form has really inspired me to work on my form too. Hadn't been this interesting shooting in a long time, thanks.
Tim, Great video and Happy for you going out on your own. I know this channel will grow! I have found that the less time I have in the holding position the more accurate I am. I have shoulder issues and have had a mass removed from my right bicep/triceps, it has forced me to become quicker in my shot, subsequently it caused me to get on target faster and become a lot more accurate. I use both a index finger and thumb release, worked on my trigger slap and got that under control. Overall, speed on target made me a better more accurate shot. I know you like that style of release but I noticed your moving a lot while waiting on the release to release. Maybe work on the speed in which you release. ( wow said RELEASE a lot in that last sentence!)
I love my Bowtechs. Smooth, fast, and love the Clutch style grip. That said, I actually really dig your DIY paintjob on the Mathews! If you haven't tried one yet, you really should get ahold of Tim Gillingham and order one of his grips for the Bowtech. I suggest the 6 degree narrow. They are superb!
Tim here is an idea that may put a huge smile on your face. Take the side plates off the Mathews and put the Beereal Ultraview grip 2.0 on and you won’t ever say that the grip is not as repeatable. Had the side plates on for a year and switched to the 2.0 a month ago and it was a definite game changer
Great video but I’d like to hear more about what you like and what you don’t like on each bow like comparing the two and that being said… which one do you like to shoot more like which one is more enjoyable to shoot? I know they’re probably different and good in their own way but which one do you think you gravitate to more? Also, I know that the bowtech is new so it’s not totally fair. Thanks for all your work on these videos
This guy is like a freakin scientist when it comes to bows. I’m not sure what his name is but I love it when he’s in your videos. Suggestion though: I’m new to archery and am shooting a Blackout bow right now. This test would be better fitted for someone else who has never shot either bow and doesn’t have confirmation bias. I know both are great bows and I’m looking into upgrading to a Bowtech, but I plan on shooting a PSE, Elite, Mathews, Hoyt, and Bowtech to see which actually feels better to me.
Awesome video tim. I just ordered gas strings in flo orange wt gun metal servings for my granite V3X 29. They will be in this week.😊 happy birthday Louie
I’m a Mathew’s fan even though I love all the features on the Bowtech I’ve never shot one but nice shooting anyway I feel either way you can’t go wrong 👍

I kno you said the HBC was your go to for a while I’ve seen you shoot the hinge 2 as well I’m actually wanting to try a hinge out of the 2 I mentioned which would be best for a newbie
With all the technology in bows the new ones will all be around the the same accuracy wise. Now it’s more about preference on how they shoot and the feeling of each bow.
Used to shoot at a range every day that used those black compressed “carpet”? targets. The friction on carbon arrows actually will destroy them over time. Had a thin wall 23 carbon (vapor 23 speed) actually break during a shot and thankfully it made it off the bow and not into my bow hand. Ever since I refused to shoot at any of those targets. The range got rid of them because they were destroying arrows over time. Honestly haven’t seen one of those targets in like 15 years.
Bow tech makes a lot of noise when you draw. Just noticed. Maybe it’s normal with all bows. Mathew’s doesn’t seem to make it. I’m new to the sport though so idk what I’m really seeing or looking for lol. Fun video to watch!
I know you guys love those TKO arrows but I personally just upgraded from Goldtip Hunter XTs to the Goldtip Black Label Quantum's an Man what a Difference, it's a .204 kinda like the TKOs but I think there cheaper than the TKOs, maybe an arrow u could try an like 👍
I think you should redo the video and use the more modern lift and bowteck with the same axle, axle and compare the prices with all the gear. I know getting a good bow, sometimes requires getting some good accessories. My bow all tipped out was over 3000 USD. I tested many many many bows, including carbon fiber. The nicest all around, I found was the Matthews lift 29.
Great comparison and info. I am considering setting up a personal archery shop to work on my Mathews since the nearest bow shop is an hour away. Bowtech seem very user friendly and easy to work on. Also, one question that may seem off the wall. What shoes are you wearing in the Fireside Chat series? I cannot find them for sale.
