  • In this episode, I am riding from Managua, to Isla de Ometepe in Nicaragua. But not before I get a feel of the water inside Laguna de Apoyo and ride through the centre of the colonial town of Granada. The ferry crossing to the volcanic island of Ometepe however, turns out to be a little rougher than I anticipated...

Noraly... hopefully you read this. I live in British Columbia. You'll probably be going through here eventually on your way to Alaska. Canada has fairly tight restrictions on drone flying so you may want to apply ahead of time for permission to do so. British Columbia is a very beautiful Province so drone footage would be super!! You may even want to contact tourism to help get a permit as it will no doubt promote the Province with your high viewer count.
Also I've mentioned before to perhaps take the Stuart Cassiar highway as it's very remote and beautiful. Also going that way, with a short side trip, you would get to enter the "pan-handle at Hyder Alaska". You would even get an opportunity to see Glaciers there. All the best to you and thanks for sharing your journey...

Lovely curiosity you share with us all, how lucky are we?! 💯🤙🏼😁Just love when your VolcanoGeek bubbles to the surface. The verdant area reminds me of the similar lushness found in the hills and mountains of Puerto Rico! Ya gotta go, Noraly! Similar Spanish architecture as well, that Church reminding me of the oldest one in Puerto Rico, San German, 16th century I believe. The same facade, many more steeps steps leading up to the Church. I know, I’ve climbed them all! 💪🏻🤣🤩👍TY again Noraly.

Ah - "Volcano Girl" - I blame you for my (very) late uptake of ADV motorcycling (on a Himalayan of course, after finding your videos of travelling in India and beyond). At 70, I only ride my Ducati occasionally but just love getting out on back roads on the Himalayan - with rhe occasional overnight camp. I will never be strong or fit enough anymore to travel like you, but the joy you bring by documenting your travels is immense. So many of us look forward each day to see what you will be up to next (that is, what new Volcano you will be visiting 😁). Also, the people you meet along the way restore our faith in humanity. Thank you for bringing this all to us.

It's remarkable, yes. Two things: (1) experience and preparation like browsing the web to see who has been there before, and (2) she uses a combination of a special GPS navigation from Garmin for motorcycles that has reasonably detailed "back-road" or off-road detail, paired with her smartphone. I'd say that the enthusiasm is her personality and, yes, she got into unexpected situations. Like getting stuck with her then bike's burnt clutch plates on a mud road in Iran. Being a woman is a big advantage as she is not perceived intuitively as a potential threat - something that men always have working against them.

Hi Noraly! I love your videos, you're an inspiration.
That was a very rough ride on the lake.
I am from Nicaragua and yes, Nicaraguans are very friendly, warm and welcoming.
The food you ate is called VIGORON: Yuca root, Chicharron, and cabbage salad served on a plantain leaf.
    Enjoy and best wishes.

And she once again hits a first time for everything moment...riding on an airport runway. Was Alaska saying “come on planes! Wanna race?? Lol. What a wild boat ride. Hope you didn’t get seasick after just eating and the waves. Great adventure once again. Finding the lagoon, people free, is an added bonus! Great video Noraly!

There is at least one more place where you have to cross a runway. It's at La Linea, the border between Spain and Gibraltar.

@@kareem8533 When I lived near Heathrow airport in the UK back in the 1970s one of the main roads crossed a runway. They had barriers and traffic lights like with railway level crossings. Not sure if that's still the case.

As she goes through the streets you will notice tall walls with big doors. Many of these are homes with great courtyards in the middle And a single door to the outside world. The inside décor is often very beautiful and relaxing with a covered porch That goes around the open Courtyard

Thank you for sharing that beautiful country Nicaragua. Just to specify some historical data: the first church in Central America was the Ermita de la Concepción, which is in Salcaja, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, erected in the year 1525. The one in Granada was erected in 1585. I wish you good and happy rides, Noraly. ..

Hola Noraly. You had what is called "chancho con yuca". is pork marinated in achote (paprika-like) with yuca, and a salad/ensalada de repollo=coleslaw. very common and popular in Nicaragua. I do want to congratulate you for your channel and adventures. Love what you are doing. Thank you.
