Finally in Honduras! The tower of the Cathedral in Comayagua is not the oldest, what they probably meant to say was that the clock is the oldest working mechanical clock in the Americas. It was working at the Alhambra in Granada Spain before it was brought over to the new continent. There usually is someone that can take you up to the tower, you probably went in at siesta time, lol. I know is not closed because a youtuber was just recently there. Im glad you crossed the border without any issues, the border and government offices are always intentionally vague to make people use the local "fixers", we call them "Tramitadores". Sometimes it is better to pay one of them, it makes things go so much faster. I avoid them, but some people prefer to use them to accelerate the process.
Sorry. You dont know much about Honduras's history. The clock in Comayagua is not the oldst in America, IS THE OLDEST IN THE WORLD, WITH ABOUT 1000 YEARS OLD., AND STILL GIVEN THE EXACT TIME. You need to get more informed about Honduras. Anybody that want to see the clock, need to make an appointment with the person in charge of the care of the Church. I LOVE visiting Honduras! Most people are very kind & welcoming. We have a little house outside of Catacamas Olancho, out in the country. We visit nearly every year from East Tennessee. I absolutely love the beautiful ocean there as well. So many places to explore. Looking forward to l your Honduras video!
16:16 the truck has no problems. when driving downhill, use the engine brake to avoid overheating the brakes. That noise is made by all trucks in Central America. I lived in Costa Rica for 6 years 🇨🇷
The Howler Monkeys go nut’s when the trucks do that. I’ve found that they often hang out where the trucks make the most noise along the roads. You can hear them getting excited long before the truck comes along.
So how engine braking works is basically closing off the exhaust valves which is causing that noise. Now the pressure has to build up to a certain level before the valve will momentarily pop open allowing exhaust gases to vacate the pipe opening and closing opening and closing causing the pop pop pop sound. Semi tractors usually have six cylinders and engine brakes AKA jake brakes usually have a selection to choose either two four or six cylinders being closed off by the sound of it I would say he had all six closed. So every time he lets off the gas pedal it immediately closes those valves and soon as he steps on the gas again it allows them to open. There are no laws on engine braking through residential areas in South America, however when you get up here to North America you will only ever hear that sound in mountainous areas in non-populated areas as it is normally illegal within city limits as a nuisance noise disturbance.
Welcome to Honduras!! What a super smooth border crossing. Those clouds did look ominous and then you were in a beautiful part of town! So great to see you strolling through the town with that sunny smile.

The truck in front of you was using engine braking where the valves inside the engine are being sorta held down to increase the resistance on the engine causing a braking action and if the exhaust is open it will be quit loud . I love your videos and you have for a long time been an inspiration to me and my son . Thank you from the heart
I loved it when you crossed the border but were unsure of whether to ride on the left or right of the road. That is exactly the same anxiety I feel sometimes despite all my years and experience. I always thought it was just my lack of confidence but with all your experience you did it too. Thank you Noraly.
The energy and patients you have is amazing. Love your edits and running commentary, of course the adventures you take us on. Love your channel, all the best to you.
The truck that was making a strange sound, was using its engine brake(aka jake brake). It uses the engine to slow its self down in order to save the brakes on the truck.
Thanks Noraly, great show as usual. The strange sound from the truck is a "Jake Brake", named after the guys the invented it, Jacobs, It is a compression brake, to go down long, steep hills while saving the mechanical brakes they basically open a valve that makes the truck engine work harder slowing down the engine and slowing the truck. The loud sound is the compression of the cylinders leaking to atmosphere (pop pop pop), this is in frequency with the engine speed. And the driver is using it correctly by keeping the RPM or motor speed down, it doesn't work as well at higher engine speeds due to increased inertia. Stay safe and happy travels!
The noisy truck was using a 'compression brake'. It functions as a vacuum brake by making the engine work against gravity. Most municipalities do not permit their operation, at least in the USA and Canada.
very true but ive heard them use it a few time in the usa some states where its illegal are california colorado montana and oregon where people are tree huggers lol and have a different mind frame lol but where i live it is monitored but not illegal im in Tenn in some of the states its illegal you cant even pump your own gas here you have to self service so you see the mind set they are afraid in some of those states you might let a drop of fuel hit the ground so i guess they would rather there attendant lets a drop or two hit the ground lol
I think you mean that it functions as the REVERSE of a vacuum brake, as it relies on the compression of air (the reverse of a vacuum) against the pistons inside the cylinders acts like springs.
You’re videos make me want to visit by moto South America and the Netherlands! Although my wife and I went to Amsterdam and loved visiting and bicycling there.
The engine sound is a "Jake" (Jacobs engine brake) it holds the exhaust valves open very slightly to make the engine act as an air compressor therefore making it a "Brake" and is very noisy. In North America most places prohibit in city limits.
Bienvenida a Honduras, los catrachos esperamos que disfrutes tú estadía por nuestro hermoso país... Pruebes nuestra rica "baleda" (comida típica) y un rico pozol... Saludos
I have to admit that I find these border crossings a bit stressful, though you handle them so well! The places look makeshift, and the processes seem ad hoc, as if they would be different if you came 10 minutes earlier or later!
The very loud truck that sounded like it was" driving with a flat tire" has his engine brake (Jake Brake) on helps to slow him down and keep his speed under control so he doesn't over heat his actual brakes.
When your camera switched on after 30mins of migration on Honduras side at 9.21, all the people standing there were already your friends!! I dont know how you do it, but you make friends so so easily. Mad respect.

Nice and fast border crossing for a change! The city you stayed in definitely dates back to the early Spanish settlers. The Bell Tower and adjoining cathedral is certainly a beautiful structure. Hope you found equally as nice accommodations. Ride safe Noraly and thank you for taking us along on your journey!
That truck noise was an engine brake. It closes valves in the engine so that there is more pressure to slow the truck on a downhill run without relying on the brakes as much. Perfectly normal.
So weird, the concept of a "Fixer". That one guy definitely looked predatory. Your well developed gut feelings and command of the language are good survival tools
Most of the fixers who are at the border post of Honduras are drug addicts and scammers, be careful and do not trust anyone who offers you help in exchange for money, when you arrive at the border post always ask for the immigration office, there they will give all the necessary instructions to carry out the entry and exit process and NEVER give your personal documents or passports.

Happy Monday morning Noraly! Excited to see today’s new adventure! Thanks again.
Saludos
If you didn't smile back at 20:38 then you must be having a very boring day. The happiness Noraly exudes is so infectious.
Excellent, you made it into another country. Let the fun begin, let’s go Honduras. 👍
algo tarde pero bienvenida a Honduras
I have to admit that I find these border crossings a bit stressful, though you handle them so well! The places look makeshift, and the processes seem ad hoc, as if they would be different if you came 10 minutes earlier or later!
The very loud truck that sounded like it was" driving with a flat tire" has his engine brake (Jake Brake) on helps to slow him down and keep his speed under control so he doesn't over heat his actual brakes.
Itchy, you gone Rock this Planet on your bike. Wonderful
When your camera switched on after 30mins of migration on Honduras side at 9.21, all the people standing there were already your friends!!
I dont know how you do it, but you make friends so so easily. Mad respect.
Happy Monday Noraly,,,, I'm happy to say that I'm all caught up on all your episodes now !!
Loving all your travels and your sense of adventure!!!
Take care young lady !!
comayagua you said it right 🥰
Another day, another new adventure in another new country begins! Seems like the town may have been more interesting than it appeared initially. Look forward to seeing the rest of Honduras with you and Alaska.... perhaps after all this time in the heat, she's a Baked Alaska!
Not sure if anyones said before but the noise from that truck was its Jake/exhaust/engine brake.
Nice to see you into the new country Hounduras. Thank you for taking us along with you. Awaiting to see its new culture etc.
Hi Noraly even though Im from NJ I’m actually from Progreso Honduras and I got to say you are a Rockstar. I wouldn’t recommend riding alone. Overall thank you so much for reminding me how beautiful my country is. The sky as beautiful as your eyes and the mountains as majestic as your heart. Thank you hun
How cool!...an easy peasy border crossing. But of course you make them all look easier than they probably are 🙂. The little Colonial town is quite nice. Hope your travels continue as spectacular as they have been. Can’t wait to see what Honduras has for us. Thanks for the ride along, Noraly.
Watching from Toronto Canada and absolutely love what your doing.
Here we go again. Another Border Crossing with Itchy Boots and Alaska.
Lempiras, the Honduran currency is THE "LEMPIRA", NORALY LOVE ❤️ YOU
Nice and fast border crossing for a change! The city you stayed in definitely dates back to the early Spanish settlers. The Bell Tower and adjoining cathedral is certainly a beautiful structure. Hope you found equally as nice accommodations. Ride safe Noraly and thank you for taking us along on your journey!
19:27 The clock, is the oldest in the Americas, it was a gift of the King of spain, it was made by the moors.
That truck noise was an engine brake. It closes valves in the engine so that there is more pressure to slow the truck on a downhill run without relying on the brakes as much. Perfectly normal.
Monday always better after watching Itchy Boots
So weird, the concept of a "Fixer". That one guy definitely looked predatory. Your well developed gut feelings and command of the language are good survival tools
Most of the fixers who are at the border post of Honduras are drug addicts and scammers, be careful and do not trust anyone who offers you help in exchange for money, when you arrive at the border post always ask for the immigration office, there they will give all the necessary instructions to carry out the entry and exit process and NEVER give your personal documents or passports.
The strange sound is called a Jake brake. It uses engine to slow the truck.
Pretty important question: Are we riding on the left side of the road, or on the right side🤣🤣

Seeing worlds we'll never see, meeting people we will never know, and that too alone on a bike. Kudos.
Amazing how quiet the border crossing was, especially when you hear stories of 5hrs and more delays at some.
Everyone in Honduras is crossing into the us right now
