My 2004 Outlander owner and service manuals both adamantly state to never charge or boost the battery while it is in the vehicle - only when it has been removed. Anyone know why ?
It can cause issues in your electrical system if you send too much voltage through the electrical components that are only designed for 12v. I’ve never had any issues but the manufacturer has to tell you that so they’re not liable if you cause issues by doing so.

Are those batteries wired in series or parallel?
Parallel. Same voltage, double the capacity.
