    Hey Jeff, great videos! I lived in the Houston area from 98-11, and then 14-17 before moving back to my hometown in Michigan and currently been shopping for new windows for my house built in 1947! Was looking at Jeld-Wen “best” aka V-4500 and these Anderson 100 series and ended up with these 100 series slider windows, as I was able to get a good price and they were in stock at Home Depot! Your videos helped a ton with the information overload out there with windows!

    Hey Jeff, do these Andersen composite windows have a lot of side to side play on the active bottom sash? I recently purchased these for my new home and I am very disappointed in them. Andersen states they are not defective. I looked at one on display at my local Home Depot and it did not move near the amount of mine. Told this to a service rep. And he said the one at Home Depot is not right but mine are.

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess I'd have to observe how much travel they have. It could be that whoever installed your windows over tighten the frame and it has pulled the frame away from the sash. Stand back about 10 ft and look at the frame to see if it's bowed outward in the center at all.

      @MartinThmpsn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I recently got a quote from Renewal by Andersen and a separate contractor (not in Houston) that installs 100 series Andersen. They aren't the same window. Both are all fibrex, but the Renewal by Andersen version has more features, like metal latching hardware, double slider horizontal gliding windows, and the more invisible screen. Couldn't really get a clear answer from either company on the options for glass coatings, even though the Andersen website specifically lets you choose various glass coating options (SmartSun, ThermaLock, etc.).

    I'm building a house above 7,500 ft in Colorado. Would the Anderson 100 series hold up to high UV exposure and cold climates well? I'm particularly interested in black frames. Thanks

    • @HoustonWindowExperts
      @HoustonWindowExperts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think any quality product would do fine at that altitude. The main concern regarding cold is going to be during the installation process. The fibrex material tends to be brittle and if you over tighten it with your screws it will split the frame.
      You should also consider looking into the Pella Impervia product. I like it better and I think it's a better performer.

      My experience has been that the process they use is at the far side of the quality pendulum. Since it's all about price, they hire the installers that can do it for the least amount of money. They undersize the windows and they do a "smash and dash" installation.
      The glass is also the worst and is very distorted. If all you're trying to accomplish is save money then they are your best choice.
      If you want quality it will cost more.

    No disrespect, because you're very knowledgeable and obviously an expert, but It's definitely not the same product installed by Renewal By Andersen. There are no mitered joints on an RBA window, so there's none of that credit card scrapping stuff. Their joints are mortise and tenon joints, which are stronger and about as close to seamless as you can get. There isn't all those connections in the corners like the 100, 200 or 400 series. It operates totally different and it's insulated waaaaay better than those windows. I had 100 series windows in my house for longer than I'd care to admit, and I replaced them with the RBA windows and the difference is amazing. Smoother operation and everything. Definitely NOT the same windows sir.

      I recently got a price from renew by Anderson and it not worth it 3 thousand a window minus 25% discount. You can get a series 100 or 400 at home Depot for about 4 to $500 each plus installation.

      Raymond the RBA window price is still too high, but the 100 and 400 series aren't even in the same category. Thats a great window for new construction, but for replacement windows, it's not likely you will get the right size window or the exact fit of a custom fit RBA window, but it's going to cost a lot. Best window, but still over priced.

    We have these Anderson windows. I'm not Impressed. We can't get the screens out. They are sized way too big. To remove the lower sash is a nightmare. The metal clips fall out and we have lost some inside the window.. It's very hard to remove the sash. We have some windows that we cannot get to operate correctly. I would stay away from these windows.

    I just had Renewal by Anderson windows installed and they look NOTHING like that Anderson vinyl window. They look very similar to the top-of-the-line real wood Pella windows I had installed on my previous house. In other words, the Renewal windows look more like real wood than any vinyl window I've seen. But they were expensive.

    Garbage, over priced. I worked as a contractor for Andersen and a service tech after install to service windows with warranty issues. If your lucky and get a window installed correctly, the only way to keep it from braking and trust me it will, is to not open it. The way they get you to not sue is to have techs come back over and over to band-aid what is wrong to prevent the whole project from having to be redone. Your better off going with a cheaper window and that way you know what your dealing with.

    Good morning!
    These windows are not working properly and nobody has come to fix the problem. I don’t trust Andersen ever again. I got 42 windows in total and 3 of them are not working properly. They are brand new but everyone that comes to visit me had told me the windows are broken, or other comments after opining the window: “Wow…that’s not what I imagined. That’s so unacceptable” Makes me so mad, because my daughter paid a lot of money for all the windows.
    The factory should be responsible and make sure when they get the measurements from any type of windows make sure they will work.
    Why they make these windows knowing they won’t be able to open and closed properly?
    Put yourself in my shoes. How you’ll feel about it.
    A waste of my money. So embarrassing when my guests tell me the windows are broken. I trusted Andersen Windows and you fail me. We all work really hard to improve our homes. I am not happy. I don’t call this improvement.
    This is the reason my daughter didn’t want to pay until those windows were changed to the original shape.
    Why they changed the style on those windows knowing they won’t work.
    Andersen’s factory makes those types of windows as well. Why nobody said anything about it?
    The original windows were from Andersen as well going back to 1940’s
    This is the reason why I trusted Andersen Windows.
    Never again.
    I’ll keep you updated they are finally coming after I put my complaint on line, January 6 I’ll keep you posted.
