    I’d love one, however not to drop onto rocks in muddy lanes - too expensive! For most people it’ll be a road bike that looks Dakar-esque. But based on the looks alone I think it’s the nicest middleweight adventure bike out there.

    Got mine a few days ago, love it. I agree that the buffeting is a niggle but there will be a taller screen available soon. The dealer informed me that the sidestand will be changed to a shorter one under warrenty. The bike is prone to fall over. Fab engine and the handeling is bliss. Looking forward to the Norden vs X.

    In Australia the Desert X is priced competitively with the standard Africa Twin. I like the look of both but think the Desert X is has better specs, would like to see a head2head between them. Thanks for the video.

    Ducati Desert X vs Husqvarna Norden vs Aprilia Tuareg
    Ok, Aprilia is smaller and with less power, but in that class that can be better thing....

      My guess is if only 10% leftover buy one there will not be enough to go around. Having said that I saw three available on the showroom floor in one of the largest multiple brand US dealerships two weeks ago.

    I'd have one but I'd fit it with Outback crash bars. Visually it looks (IMO) like the Cagiva Elephant, and I think that's why I like it so much.

    i had high hopes for this... after testriding it head to head with my 2019 Atas... i'm not a fan... on paper it's lighter punchier stronger then the AfricaTwin. On paper... In reality it feels cheap, sluggish, and while the Hypermotard sounds absolutely amazing this just didn't delivered not even in the sound department... Maybe I'm bias... maybe I'm just in an f-ed up love&hate relationship with my rusting away soaked in Wd40 Atas... so far as an ADV it's the only one For me...
    Nice review Mr Chops, as allways

    Toss a pair of Bark Busters bars and maybe DoubleTake mirrors in addition to the factory Enduro package, and don’t worry about dropping it off road. I think the wind-in-the-face bit is part of the rally bike experience. That 950cc engine looks to be brilliantly paired the bike.

  • @tHaH4x0r

    I spent 13+k gpd on an africa twin and I go greenlaning with it!
    You buy such a bike for adventure, and drops are just part of it. Buy good crash protection and it will be fine with just a few scratches. But that's what its made for.
    I truly feel sad when I see people buying expensive race bikes and not taking them to tracks, or adventure bikes and only taking them to Starbucks. Its like seeing lions pacing around in tiny cages in zoos, when they should be roaming 10s to 100s of square kms in the savanna.

      @@LambChopRides People who don't use their bike with the capability it has because of resale value, don't actually have afford to own it. Then the bike owns you, you don't own the bike.

    I test rode the bike. I like the sitting position, you get nice commanding view. And I love the retro round LED lights, it turns heads when you drive this bike. But I was a bit disappointed with the sound and character of the engine with stock exhaust, doesn't feel and sound like a Ducati should do. Maybe aftermarket exhaust like Akrapovic or Termignoni can change that.

    I hope Chopsy and Greg does a comparison between the DesertX and the 890 Adventure, I feel the 890 Adventure is closer to the DesertX than the Norden 901 since the 890 Adventure is better off road, both the standard and the R version.
    But the standard 890 Adventure seems to be a bit better for the street than the R so it will be a better comparison to the DesertX, I have heard the DesertX is good both on and off road. So please stop comparing this to the Norden and take out the 890 Adventure for a sweet comparison

    • @anderssvensson1815
      @anderssvensson1815 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      im also looking at these bikes and the ducati and the ktm 890 adv seems to be great bikes if you can only have 1 bike and like to travel and still have a capable bike offroad.
      Awesome 50/50 bikes! I tried the norden 901 and though it was great it did not handle like the 890 adv off road i have yet to try the ducati but i have only heard good things about it.

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anderssvensson1815 Yeah I found the 890 Adventure better off road than the Husky. I think my 690 Enduro is a much better bike if you are riding 50/50 but then there is the whole travel thing which I would much rather do on the 890 Adventure.
      I can not speak for the DesertX yet but from what I have heard, it is the closest adventure bike to the 890 Aventure when it comes to flicking between on and off road, which is kind of cool being a Ducati. The Huskys suspension, tires and where the weight was on that bike did not bring the same confidence as the 890 Aventure did off road.

    We need more aprilia content… 2022 Tuono Factory against RSV4 Factory with Gregor would be good… a Pembrokeshire to Snowdonia 3 or 4 day blast with 2 track days at each end starting at Pembery ending at Oulton park would be awesome 👏

    Hi Lamb, so you never did make a video comparison of this Ducati with the Norden? I am planning to sell my BMW R9T and buy the Norden 901 soon. But I also like the Ducati DesertX. So I am more a German type of buyer when it comes to cars and bikes. Never really did like Italian bikes, maybe scooters. Well I do like some Ducatis like the V2 Multistrada, and now this Desert X. But as you said the gearbox, even on the Multistrada V2 for me wasn’t precise, always a bit clunky, false neutrals and not smooth. A smooth gearbox and quick shifter are very important to me on this next ADV bike I plan to buy. But I also like the looks of the Norden a bit better. But I love the parallel twin LC8 more than the Desmo Dronic testa stretta V twin. Like the parallel twins better as a configuration for an light weight, compact engine then a clunky Italian V twin. What’s your thoughts on this. Are you ever gonna make this comparative video?

    Definitely comparison with the Norden 901, I plan to buy the Norden next summer, after I sell my BMW R9T. I am firm on the believe Norden is better then the Ducati. But then I never liked the Ducati's to much. Sure they have the design right always, well most of the time. But the quality of certain components will never be at the level of German/Austrian manufacturing capabilities. The same with cars, German always! Let's say an Alfa Julia is almost the same price range as the BMW G20 3-series, but the way I see it...Wouldn't even consider the Julia. In fact I am just in the process of buying a slightly used G20. So there you go. Same with the motorcycles Ducati's gearbox is always lacking something, it's clunky, false neutrals e.c.t. The bike does look great though and sure it's fast also. This is just my opinion, maybe I am wrong who knows.

    My 2016 Multistrada has a proper fuel gauge and distance til empty, is this really a concern on a modern Ducati (outside of panigales, perhaps)?

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No fuel gauge on Panni, Streetfighter, hypermotard and perhaps Supersport.. think it's only on the adventure bikes actually

    I think most serious off roaders wouldn't use a bike this heavy and expensive on dirt tracks. This Ducati is the Range Rover of bikes... for people who want to look like somebody they're not!

      I can tell you these bikes are way more capable than you’d think. I’ve raced motocross and done enduro for years. Just got an Africa twin. 226kg bike. Yes it’s tiring to ride on singletrack, but for anything except rough singletrack it’s capable enough. Of course a dirt bike is better but these can also commute and travel well. I’ve taken mine on singletrack once and while I wouldn’t choose this over a dirt bike, it could do it

    • @zyonsdream
      @zyonsdream 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I guess you’ve never seen someone take a BMW 1250 GS down a single track. Those are much bigger, much heavier and much more expensive. The Pan Am is like 27k and lots of people are yeating them down trails.

    • @pigdaddypete

      Your ‘look like somebody they’re not’ comment is one the pettiest I’ve read recently. You can apply that to almost every biker out there. The sports bike riders that’ll never get a knee down. The street bike riders that’ll never wheelie. The scramblers that’ll never scramble. I’ve bought a Desert X and I’ll never use it off road. I think I’m somebody that just likes the bike. Reminds me of the Cagiva Elephant.

    • @newenglandscrambler2262

      I'd definitely take it off road. Like, serious offroad enduro stuff. Looks like a blast. Yeah it's pretty, but so was my Triumph Scrambler and I absolutely thrashed that thing.
