Hi everyone! Thank you for watching. This video is to help answer all of your N95 questions that have come from some of the other videos I've done. Hopefully, it helps you to know the basics, whether you are buying N95's for yourself or for your workplace.
Rachel You should also mention that you cannot have facial hair where the respirator comes in contact with your skin. Also maybe touch on respirators with purge valves. Otherwise great information. THANKS
Nice presentation. I think it's important to clarify how small the size of particulate the N95's can protect one from at that 95% (the size is 0.3 micrometers in aerodynamic diameter). Hence, the wearer really needs to understand a bit about sizes of various airborne hazards, which should be covered in their respirator training. I cannot count the number of times I've seen laboratory chemists, industrial workers and painters (both who are exposed to fumes and vapors), and even traffic police directing traffic on a busy street while wearing either an N95, a regular surgical mask, a dust mask or similar, when they need to be fitted for and wearing a half or full faced respirator with appropriate cartridges. - Chemical Safety Officer & Chemical Hazwaste Manager
@@KristenMeghanTV Viruses need a mode of transport, something to move them. Particles from sneezes or coughs (which carry the virus) are not smaller than 0.3 microns. The virus would be dormant on the outside surface of the respirator. Surface contamination would be the likely route of someone acquiring covid while wearing an N95 and who was fit tested. People aren't going to walk around in public wearing PAPR's. Nothing is 100%. They likely won't rate N95's for certain specific hazards because of the various other ways a person could be exposed while wearing them. I personally don't like N95's because of the fit and seal problems. I prefer a full face, though I know it isn't practical to wear in public - at least not for this particular virus right now. Ebola, yes I'm wearing a PAPR everywhere.
Heard of P2's. Just as effective as N95's. Actually better specs. The thing I like about some P2's is that they have horizontal straps (behind the head) which do not interfere with hearing aids, unlike the N95's vertical "ear" straps. Where do you get P2? Why, in New Zealand and Australia, of course.
dude, if your n95 masks have ear loops, they are not n95 masks. N95 masks have to have head straps so that they are tight enough. Stop spreading misinformation.
Hi Fred, yep, you are correct. We explain the evolution of how N95’s went from single-use respirators AKA dust masks to being used in medical environments during the 90’s in our video here: th-cam.com/video/1k1UG0m-cZ8/w-d-xo.html
The one with foam over the metal strip might do better with the air leak at exhale over the nose. Saw a good video of masks showing any air leak with vaping clouds.
0:00 if "N95 respirators are the most protective option for face coverings" that means N99, N100, and P100 respirators offer less protection. Is this true?
There is a major problem with this video. It does not mention. Cutting the ear loops. To prevent harming birds who fly around a landfill and, marine life who come in contact with masks carelessly thrown in the ocean waterways. Also, The loops are not replaceable. Should the get severed somehow.
Yes ,, again you must go to 3M and go to personal protection and find FAQ on their masks ,,, All other info may be click bait fir their money making youtue accounts
Hi Rachel, I always enjoy your insight on different topics but especially face masks. I didn't know there was many types of N95 masks. I was curious if every N95 mask get warm or is it certain ones?
I think it really depends on the fit and fabric. Some are closer to the face while others allow more space. I find the flexible cloth to be more comfortable than the molded cup shape but that may just be a matter of preference.
N95s aren't the only form of protection they offer quite low protection. their not the best and Dust masks aren't great for protecting you cause no one knows how to use them
Best video I have seen on determining authenticity of N95 masks. Thank you!

How about NO 😷 We are not the CCP honey

Thank you. You. Your video is great. You did not waste our time with nonsense talk before getting to the subject.

Good point!
THANK YOU FOR THE INFORMATION. CAN YOU TELL US ANYTHING ABOUT THE KN95?

Good video. I think the difference between 3M 9205+ (non medical) & 3M 8210 (also non medical), could have been covered in the video.
Good point! Thanks for commenting.
2:03 NIOSH = National Eyenstitute for Occupational Safety and Health
and 3M VFlex N95?
Thank you
Well you may have them down in the description box but you can't open it to read it
Great explaination! Thank you
What about made in Canada.
Great video. Can you wash/soak and reuse N95s with detergent
N95 contain Graphene a toxic substance that causes cancer. It is a clear carcinogen research it
Supposedly no, the layers provide a static barrier to attract particulates and getting them wet will break that barrier.
Ally are you a 3M design engineer . 3M list N95 s in the category of DUST MASKS

One year later and the links for the masks are a no-go
Thanks for letting me know.
N95 are not the most protective.. N99 and even n100 are widely available
Another great video!
Thank you!
Keep out .1 micron viruses?
Do N95 masks expire over a long period of time? If yes, what is the shelf life?

my question is why is amazon allowed to sell fake n95 masks without repercussion?
Of course LOL Amazon is owned by a pedophile. Do you think he really has any morals LOL
