As a frustrated painter attempting to paint waves, seas, this video is exceptional in its instruction. Just wish mine would turn out this well. Thank you for rendering a much clearer picture. Your talent is without a doubt one of the best.
This is simply unbelievable! This is exactly how the waves look in the ocean. I've drawn oceans before, but the depth and splashes of foam were flat. Thank you for this demonstration, though I will have to watch it a zillion more times!😅❤
I'm 68 years old being painting since a kid love art .but you gave me so much knowledge in this tutorial .I'm so great full and may god gives you lot's of blessing and THANK YOU So MUCH . Puerto Rico and Bronx ,NYC loves you.
Thank you for this! A friend of mine paid me to paint a seascape six months ago; the hardest part has not been the ship or sky, but the waves. I have painted my ocean four times--last night was the fourth time going back and just readding the base colors in order to start new again. With these four steps you have created and your explanation, I feel I can successfully go back and finish.
Wonderful instructor, thank you for your detailed explanation on warming up the colors and where to do so. Truly this has inspired me to try painting waves! God bless you.
I'm 65 and my curiosity about painting was sparked by a painting I had seen. I have been working on a painting with mountains in the background a body of water which to was just too bland I couldn’t wrap my head around what was not working for me. I knew there was something wrong, yesterday I painted over the island along with the trees in the little house, and covered it white paint and decided to paint the sea water bland I couldn’t wrap my head around. I knew there was something wrong yesterday I took the whole island off along with the trees in the little house, and we painted that white and decided to just paint athe seawen I can across this tutorial and while I am totally and oddly intimidated, I am going to give this a try is the best explanation I have seen I don’t know what’s gonna come out but I know I’m gonna give it a go. Thank you for the time spent in for how well you explained everything and calmly you didn’t rush through. I appreciate you for that, fingers crossed if I do a quarter of the job that you did I'll be thrilled?.
Your instruction is the best I've ever seen and I've watched countless videos in the 40+ years I've been watching painting/art videos. Thank you so much for such a valuable tool for artists, both experienced and new to the medium.
Hi, I've never watched such an instructive tutorial before and I would like to thank you for it. I've only been painting for 9 months and had no training at all. But I have been getting quite a bit of feedback from a local artist who is kind enough to. He said I'm doing really well but that on every painting I've done the water work lets me down. So I've spent 2 days now finding tutorials that will help me improve my self. I found yours and I'm ecstatic as this is just what I'm looking for . Thank you for sharing Sheila 💙
So informative and helpful for beginners. Thank goodness for the pause button and the three-dot above where you can slow down the tutorial. I also do a screenshot for the directional paint strokes for future reference. Most of my painting is from TH-cam tutorials and it’s instructors like you that make us beginners look good. Thanks so much. Debbie from Arkansas
What a wonderful lesson! Thank you. I live near the ocean and want to learn to paint it but didn't know where to start. I love the dynamic movement that you have captured. Thank you for the clear step-by-step instruction and working in sections approach. Can't wait to try this.😌
And they say you can't create dynamic paintings using acrylics....boy have my art teachers been wrong! This is brilliant. Thank you for sharing this image and your techniques. #teamacrylicpaint
So I'm sitting here painting a picture of waves and struggling... so I go on TH-cam to get some ideas and WHAT DO YOU KNOW! You are painting the EXACT same picture as me! I'm 100% sure we are using the same reference photo..... yours is so much better than mine though....
this is just the right image i have in my head of how i wanted to paint what i feel right now. ive never actually painted before so this is very helpful to start !
Been looking for a you tube video that actually teaches you how to do ocean waves and FINALLY I found you ! Been at this for weeks now . I know mine won’t be as perfect as yours , but I have learned a lot from your tutorial . Thanks so much for your wonderful teaching skills and I look forward to watching more of your beautiful paintings and hopefully learning more !
What a great tutorial! There are points in the process I 'lost' the picture and it looked rubbish. Then it came back again with a new addition and some more detail. Then it went again and I lost heart. But I took my time and persevered and the result was actually fabulous. It's now framed and on my partner's wall. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skill.
This was a great tutorial which gave space for the student to develop skills. No you didn’t go through every single stage which would possibly be hard if this was you first time with acrylic. However I am trying to improve and find my own way so I liked your tutorial style which left me to work out how to mix some colours or when to start glazing etc. I really felt that I was starting to get the hang of painting a sea and can use this help in painting something from scratch. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your creative techniques and generous teaching methods. I look forward to more of your great presentations, I've certainly learned a lot.
Just love your videos. Thanks to you i got inspired to use different mediums but also start drawing things I thought were too difficulty for me. Thank you!!!!
This is FANTASTIC!!! I have tried so many tutorials where ALL the work is done while the paint is wet. I got so frustrated I just steered away from art. You are an excellent teacher, especially for beginners like me who get frustrated and overwhelmed! Thank you kindly 🥰
Wow! You are such an amazing painting teacher I’ve ever seen !! Everything is so clear and incredible like I even have nothing to say but WOW, I hope you make more videos of how to draw the waves of the ocean
Thanks for the help. I think we used the same reference photo, but I saw the foreground as rock. I kept referring back to you. I had to use my phone for the pic, my computer does not print out good photos, but I was happy with the result. Thanks for your calm teaching style.
very good!! it's so true what u said....im very impatient as a "beginner" (technically been painting for years but not consistently) and have trouble with the beginning stages, worrying it wont look good.
Same! So much so I quit painting within two months! I want to paint a picture for my partner for our anniversary with water. This was the perfect thing to see to get me back into it!
I have started an acrylic ink sea storm painting and totally messed up the big wave which i did with paste and acrylic paint. . I'm gonna try to apply your teaching but mmmm not sure of the result! Your waves are absolutely alive and beautiful!! Thank you very much for the great lesson. i was hoping that you would've explain the mixture of paint and if there is some parts that you wait for it to dry before proceeding. Can't put all in one lesson i guess. Thank you
Fabulous tutorial and a beautiful picture. When you did the foreground, you can see a white horses head, it's the way the colour has formed. It's on the right hand side.. would love to see if anyone else can see it ..xx
What paint brush are you using? I can never find a good small paint brush that is stiff enough to give that tiny point. You are very talented, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Your paint puddles on the palette look as though they are staying wet. How do you keep them usable throughout the entire process? Mine dry up when not used within a short period of time. Are you using an additive or paints that remain open?
thank you! I will use this techniques tomorrow with my friends. my goal : dont get pissed off it's not perfect! do you have a video that shows how to add sunrays and how to add yellow orange etc from the sun????
I’m just amazed to find you. There are many good teachers for oils but acrylic not so much. One question, why your paint isn’t drying so quickly as mine does.
Beautiful. Thank you very much Sir. Can you please tell me how you kept your out of tube acrylic paints moist for 30 minutes please. Mine get dry and wasted so fast and I keep worrying about them and so not able to concentrate on my painting much. Also I keep spraying them with water every few minutes which will ruin the consistency of the acrylic paints too. Please advice. Appreciate it.
Use a stay-wet pallet. You buy on or make one. I prefer the bought ones but I have made my own as well. The one I have now is a Masterson yellow top and a larger red top. I keep my paints for a long time. I mix colour strings so I use them in different paintings.
Could u please explain the stroke your using to create the waves. Mine just look like squiggly lines. No one seems to explain the strokes to achieve the realistic look lol thanks
It really doesnt look right at first but it did came together in a way:D I painted one of my drawers , took 2 hours and it looks so niceee you really are a great teacher 🙏thank you
One of the best, most detailed tutorials I've ever watched.
Thank you for including the whole process! This is awesome! Self-taught Artist appreciates!

Your painting is like meditation along with ur exquisite voice guidance. You make it look simpler but obviously it isn’t
Wonderful instructor, thank you for your detailed explanation on warming up the colors and where to do so. Truly this has inspired me to try painting waves! God bless you.
I paint seascapes all the time but you gave me so much information. You rock! Congratulations 🎉
Прекрасна робота! Морські хвилі, надзвичайно реалістичні!

I’m just amazed to find you. There are many good teachers for oils but acrylic not so much. One question, why your paint isn’t drying so quickly as mine does.
Is there a version of this video that gives every detail and shows when you pick up the colors from pallet ?
Great video!
Love this mate, thank you so much for taking the time and effort to make this video!!
Amazing, Matt. Is there anything you can't paint? After this ocean scene I don't think so.
