I found through a Reddit post that it is dropped by a very late game Yokai boss. Don't remember his name. But that's according to said Reddit post, no idea if it's true. Edit: Boss is Shuten Doji guess I'll farm him once I get there.

A quicker way to get access to the Onmyo Magic tree is the third shrine of the very first mission will let you buy a talisman of some sort at the Kodama Bazaar. Just sell your unwanted white items to the Kodama Offering option then use the points from doing that to buy a couple Onmyo talismans then just kill somethin' with it and that'll usually net you your first point.

This video is old but if anyone is starting the game and found this video, you don't have to wait until the second main mission to get onmyo points. Starting at the first mission, find all or most of the kodama (the little green dudes) and then go to a shrine. At the shrine check the Make An Offering section and offer up any gear you don't need. Then go down to Kodama Bazaar in the same section. Look through items available to see if they're selling lightning, water, or fire talismans. If they aren't you can just quit out to the main menu and reload the character to refresh the shop until they are. After you have the talismans, equip them and attack enemies in the level with your weapons with the talismans until you level up your onmyo skill and get a skill point. I know this all sounds tedious, but I personally think it's worth it so that you can start getting level ups in onmyo a bit sooner and speed up progression. Technically you don't even need to find all the kodama, but they increase the number of items available at the Bazaar and therefore increase your chances having talismans in the shop.
One huge thing you missed out: Smithing text - forging armour makes the requirements lower. You aren't making full use of your Yasakani, run something lighter in the chest slot (saika set bonus is good with the ravenwing rifle and haccho nenbutsu sword as secondary) and you won't need to dump an absurd amount into stamina - you should be 99 magic/const by this point and courage is great for SG which is ki intensive
What is this "smithing text-forging armour" can't find it in the wiki or the reddit's google sheet, do you mean they should smith the armour used in the build using a smithing text?
Yesterday I was just stuck on what to do so I actually added this man on my playstation for help and he actually replied and walked me through everything and I am greatful because a few minutes ago I just hit level 100 thanks 🙏🏼 to him
I know it's a bit offtopic, but it is really good advice for the players. When you will gather "favor" points for your blacksmiths (second one is unlocked in "roaming artisian" questline, check wiki) put all your points into obtaining rare materials while disassbling first. Seriously. Don't read it just as "free maferials", read it as "I no longer have to farm all these bosses and enemies I hate because they suck and are not fun in the slightest". Jesus christ I freaking despise Enenra and Oni Shibata, I am so glad I don't have to farm them. Then I suggest cheper tempering and soul matching, ~30% less adds up when you start doing it a lot. And you will do that a lot anyway. The rest isn't really that important, salibar isn't that nice given you can store amrita in it only off-mission, and higher +levels are relatively easy to get, because you get them all the time so it's simply refundant.

Well said! I’ve finished Nioh and the 999 floors in the Abyss but so far I’m kind of getting screwed over because I’m severely limited with what kinds of builds I can make and still need to level up higher.
Perfect, honestly. Another thing you could look at would be the fire ninjutsu from Hayabusa, with no gear or points invested in Dex that spell does 7k for me, could probably become a pretty sick oneshot build

There is a lot great into in this video. I'm hardly new to Nioh, but I wasn't taking advantage of confusion enough and had never really tried magic familiars, and I'm starting to use them on bosses especially now and it destroys them. A simple way to proc confusion is to use a water familar to saturate the enemy and then pop the kasha soul core. I would say if you're new to Nioh and you only take away that one thing from this video it will help you tremendously, that and putting amrita absorption on your armor chest piece.
Hey man, so those familiars are those spells that have the specific element circling around you right? I've never really tried them out yet but do you recommend them for basically all difficulties? I just got to Dream of the Demon
@@jerrynest101RBLX I would recommend it for sure. Since I've started using the water familiar in dream of the demon it's helped me a ton, but it will be a big help no matter the difficulty.
You can actually get Omnyo magic or Ninjutsu for that matter by just using items that you find like shrapnel bombs for ninjutsu or Magic Talismans like Fire/LIghtning talismans then beat on mobs, this should not take long and you will get 1 point into Omnyo. This can be done on the very first mission.

I have been going through nioh with a heart/skill build but I think I need to try out magic now for this confusion build you speak of. It look op as hell. It might make it a bit too easy though. This is the best video explaining niohs build mechanics I have seen.
I would honestly like to thank you for making this video it is helping me progress better. I now have learned how to use ninjutsu/omyo magic properly now. Even if this does end up making the game easier I don't mind because it expands on the skills I thought I wouldn't learn.

Very informative video! I wish more people made good Nioh 2 content as I love this game. A problem for me as that most videos people made were for the ps release, and is now outdated for the PC release. PC doesn't seem to have been that popular at all... Anyways great video mate!

Worked in 6 peice Inari with this build while going through DOTD. Easy to incorporate with one peice of armor and the four weapons with Yasakani. Gonna roll this build into your Oyamatsumi/Purity build when I get into higher difficulties.
Amazing guide, so in depth! Only thing left out was skill customization, which isn’t a big deal at all. Though, I did have a question. For something like empty retribution. Is the dmg boost magic better than lets say arcana of lightning? Dmg boost magic is only 1.1+ ki cost while lightning is 1.4, which seems like big difference. Though, since your familiars fade much faster than purity does, is it worth putting an element on your attacks while higher ki cost or using dmg boost magic/const etc.?

Since you said the five piece isn't necessary, why not run the white fox mask in the build for the life gain onmyo magic hit? It works with the familiars. Plus, you could always get lucky and roll the life gain onmyo magic AAA on your accessory.
I'd advise finding an early game fists build for 1-100, can find some on here that are seriously OP to get you to the point mentioned here. The "there are no builds until then" is only partly true. There are, and there are OP ones too. They just don't really come together either until about lvl 50's.

The easiest build to get online is and has always been Kunai. You can get it online within the first act of dream of the samurai with fuma ninja gear, and then transition to kato at the end of dots. Eventually you transition to feathers and elemental damage and you can easily clear all of the underworld and scrolls of the damned with that (omiokane gear and kato).

I've been following this guide and blastkages' how to break Nioh 2 at roughly the same time and my progression has been going well; since this build becomes great within region 4, I would recommend following Blasts video while making this build. Try to also get as many rolly Polly nekoes to be with you for boss fights and also summon other players if needed.
This is what I have been looking for, tried getting into the first game but just didn't click. Got this one and same problem, I just wasn't getting it but I just started a new file recently and it made more sense and now I'm half way through the game (have been just leveling up and enjoying the game) and I am doing quite good and more or less get how stuff works on a basic level. I main switch glaive with hatchets as secondary so this video seems like what I should be aiming for. No stone unturned and covered a ton of ground, thank you for uploading this.
Edit: Wow ten months, I am on the last 5 floors of the depths of the underworld thanks to your videos and your extremely in depth analysis of your builds. I am using a mix of your set up with the governors armor and veterans armor. I like governors armor better, but the soul core setup with the veterans armor I think is more advantageous since you can spam Ippon and you still get the -21.5% damage taken mid attack from Onryoki which is helpful, you get the damage mitigation of the governors armor with the damage taken critical, and I have stacked about -23% elemental damage taken with a skill slot on my accessory and chest piece which is also very important in the depth and comes on another great endgame heavy armor set (Mino veterans set). Just need to grind out a (increased attack winded enemy) on my scroll of the damned and it will be perfect since my helmet has anima charge melee attack and I don't want to farm a helm that has both since its rare. All in all I have truly enjoyed this game and it is all thanks to your in depth analysis and enthusiasm for what you do. Thank you

I’m a new player and literally just started two days ago but I’ve been playing odachi... but I already did some stuff on my skill trees..do I have to restart the whole game or can I just switch to the glaive and continue from there?? Few things....best source of money is selling Tea Sets. Hands down. Millions and millions. Second, Umbracite is also a drop as a visitor. I have seen all forms of umbracite drop with decent consistency as a visitor. Third, decent build, fairly early acquisition, but ninja/kunai is technically "easier". This build focuses on the weapon play aspect of the game, but someone not as comfortable with the weapons or the timings for pulses or stance switching, ninja build with fuma going into kato could be more accessible to get players into dotstrong or dotd where other builds become more easily accessible. Just my opinion really, but otherwise good.
this is incredibly well explained and well presented. i beat nioh 1 by making a fire spear and i remember distinctly how easy the game became after i built. as in without a build, i couldnt handle the game. loved that game. been trying to get into nioh 2 but i get thrashed so bad i recently downloaded a trainer and started playing though it in unlimited demon mode, if just to experience it, sad as that may be. im already building pure magic so i will be trying this for sure. you reminded me of my nioh 1 experience, and now im hopeful and confidant that when i try this the experience will be similar. thanks.
Where did you get the information about the damage buff nuppeppo gives you? It doesn't state that anywhere on the soul core that I can find, so I"m just wondering now if other soul cores have ''hidden'' bonuses. Is there a way to know?

I've done the mission like you suggested but I haven't had any luck getting it unfortunately. Maybe I should try on dream of the demon?
Forgot to say, you can actually get somewhat of a build by the time you reach the end of the first zone of your first playthrough. Can easily get an oni-bi core from farming one of those instrument playing dudes in one of the first twilight missions + purification talisman to have confusion. Then you can use shirohami + yatsu no kami soulcore + melee dmg vs poisoned enemies on accessories. lots of extra damage

U get glory by leaving your grave with the jasper and people using it. Leave your grave right before bosses, shrines or hard areas. Also leave your graves at lower level maps so people will definitely use your grave. Ie- if your level 50 leave at a 49 or below level/map/board. The lower the map from your current level the higher the chance someone will use your grave and u will get glory for doing nothing. Just have to collect it in delivery menu option. 💯💯💯

Do people really compare this to dark souls? That's really strange, in my opinion it's a lot more difficult than the souls series and that's because like you stated it's a lot more about farming for the right gear with the combination of skill, really cool to see it was released on the PS5 I was just thinking about redownloading it so I actually get a PlayStation 5 which probably won't be for a while still
Dude this is the best build of the dozens of build videos I have watched, thank you so much. Only thing I (kinda) disagree with: I feel like Elden Ring is even much more build-dependent than Nioh. With ER as soon as I realized I need a ton of vigor, a shield and got Blasphemous Blade the game got easy immediately (almost boring in fact). Afaik that is not possible in Nioh. Enemies are much more unforgiving, getting 2-hit is far from rare, even if you put a lot of points into Constitution early… So yeah I personally feel like Nioh is even more Sekiro than it is Elden Ring…
Hello. I got a question. I prefer Dual sword a lot more than Switchglaive. Will this build still be decent and work if i just go 30 magic and put them stats in skill to use Dual sword ?
Thanks for this. As the Armor level is around lvl 67. And i am lvl 108 And soul matching cost to much i think. I farm the text for the armor & Spear today. Not sure if i was total lucky or what, But i got both in 7 try's. I do have item drop rate on my armor and Accessoires. As i wanted A change from my Dual Sword & Odachi to switchglaive & Spear to see if i like them. If I can give a tip for farming Onmyo & Ninja Skill point. In the second area (Soaring) the Sub Mission "A Hot-blooded Howl" At the shrine before you have to go underground, And it have Enki next to it. If you make sure you have 2-3 flaming Heron and 2-3 Water Heron And 6-8 Lighting Shots And 6-8 Water Shots (you can reset before and after this mission for a low cost) The Heron if hit, can kill it with 1 Water Heron, and 1-2 Flaming Heron. With Onmyo i go 2 Water, 2 Lighting, And keep doing like that to i kill it, Onmyo is a bit slower. So i normal go Ninja point first and it is super fast. All so if one dont want to go for 100.000 point, Simple go for 30.000 point, that what need for the first one to unlock. But i do the 100.000 as i find it super easy to do... It is very fast (I think it is) and easy to get 30.000 or 100.000 in both Onmyo & Ninja, So one is ready for the upcoming mission´s for Onmyo & Ninja. And bonus is the Enki can drop Enki pelt that need to Craft the Warrior of the East Armor Kindly.

Damage is good and all but if they’re out of ki you’re better off using feathers

for early starting before going for ng+ you can go for far the "vice-minister armor" easy to farm, cool bonuses and you only need 4 pieces.

Worked in 6 peice Inari with this build while going through DOTD. Easy to incorporate with one peice of armor and the four weapons with Yasakani. Gonna roll this build into your Oyamatsumi/Purity build when I get into higher difficulties.
Amazing guide, so in depth! Only thing left out was skill customization, which isn’t a big deal at all. Though, I did have a question. For something like empty retribution. Is the dmg boost magic better than lets say arcana of lightning?
Dmg boost magic is only 1.1+ ki cost while lightning is 1.4, which seems like big difference. Though, since your familiars fade much faster than purity does, is it worth putting an element on your attacks while higher ki cost or using dmg boost magic/const etc.?

Since you said the five piece isn't necessary, why not run the white fox mask in the build for the life gain onmyo magic hit? It works with the familiars. Plus, you could always get lucky and roll the life gain onmyo magic AAA on your accessory.

I'd advise finding an early game fists build for 1-100, can find some on here that are seriously OP to get you to the point mentioned here. The "there are no builds until then" is only partly true. There are, and there are OP ones too. They just don't really come together either until about lvl 50's.

The easiest build to get online is and has always been Kunai. You can get it online within the first act of dream of the samurai with fuma ninja gear, and then transition to kato at the end of dots. Eventually you transition to feathers and elemental damage and you can easily clear all of the underworld and scrolls of the damned with that (omiokane gear and kato).

I've been following this guide and blastkages' how to break Nioh 2 at roughly the same time and my progression has been going well; since this build becomes great within region 4, I would recommend following Blasts video while making this build. Try to also get as many rolly Polly nekoes to be with you for boss fights and also summon other players if needed.
This is what I have been looking for, tried getting into the first game but just didn't click. Got this one and same problem, I just wasn't getting it but I just started a new file recently and it made more sense and now I'm half way through the game (have been just leveling up and enjoying the game) and I am doing quite good and more or less get how stuff works on a basic level. I main switch glaive with hatchets as secondary so this video seems like what I should be aiming for. No stone unturned and covered a ton of ground, thank you for uploading this.
Edit: Wow ten months, I am on the last 5 floors of the depths of the underworld thanks to your videos and your extremely in depth analysis of your builds. I am using a mix of your set up with the governors armor and veterans armor. I like governors armor better, but the soul core setup with the veterans armor I think is more advantageous since you can spam Ippon and you still get the -21.5% damage taken mid attack from Onryoki which is helpful, you get the damage mitigation of the governors armor with the damage taken critical, and I have stacked about -23% elemental damage taken with a skill slot on my accessory and chest piece which is also very important in the depth and comes on another great endgame heavy armor set (Mino veterans set). Just need to grind out a (increased attack winded enemy) on my scroll of the damned and it will be perfect since my helmet has anima charge melee attack and I don't want to farm a helm that has both since its rare. All in all I have truly enjoyed this game and it is all thanks to your in depth analysis and enthusiasm for what you do. Thank you

You can also randomly find magic talismans in the store. Using them will let you earn magic points. Sometimes you can get them really early.
I have a question... does it matter what weapons and guardian you start off with?? I’m a new player and literally just started two days ago but I’ve been playing odachi... but I already did some stuff on my skill trees..do I have to restart the whole game or can I just switch to the glaive and continue from there?? Just keep playing, use abilities and you will unlock skill points pretty quick.

Few things....best source of money is selling Tea Sets. Hands down. Millions and millions. Second, Umbracite is also a drop as a visitor. I have seen all forms of umbracite drop with decent consistency as a visitor. Third, decent build, fairly early acquisition, but ninja/kunai is technically "easier". This build focuses on the weapon play aspect of the game, but someone not as comfortable with the weapons or the timings for pulses or stance switching, ninja build with fuma going into kato could be more accessible to get players into dotstrong or dotd where other builds become more easily accessible. Just my opinion really, but otherwise good.
this is incredibly well explained and well presented. i beat nioh 1 by making a fire spear and i remember distinctly how easy the game became after i built. as in without a build, i couldnt handle the game. loved that game. been trying to get into nioh 2 but i get thrashed so bad i recently downloaded a trainer and started playing though it in unlimited demon mode, if just to experience it, sad as that may be. im already building pure magic so i will be trying this for sure. you reminded me of my nioh 1 experience, and now im hopeful and confidant that when i try this the experience will be similar. thanks.
Where did you get the information about the damage buff nuppeppo gives you? It doesn't state that anywhere on the soul core that I can find, so I"m just wondering now if other soul cores have ''hidden'' bonuses. Is there a way to know?

My build is done except finding the yasakani magatama. I've done the mission like you suggested but I haven't had any luck getting it unfortunately. Maybe I should try on dream of the demon?
Forgot to say, you can actually get somewhat of a build by the time you reach the end of the first zone of your first playthrough.
Can easily get an oni-bi core from farming one of those instrument playing dudes in one of the first twilight missions + purification talisman to have confusion.
Then you can use shirohami + yatsu no kami soulcore + melee dmg vs poisoned enemies on accessories. lots of extra damage

U get glory by leaving your grave with the jasper and people using it. Leave your grave right before bosses, shrines or hard areas. Also leave your graves at lower level maps so people will definitely use your grave. Ie- if your level 50 leave at a 49 or below level/map/board. The lower the map from your current level the higher the chance someone will use your grave and u will get glory for doing nothing. Just have to collect it in delivery menu option. 💯💯💯

I played Switchglave for the entire game till DotS, then I switched to the Odachi, and yesterday I reached DotW, and I'm planning to get back to the Switchglave, and stick with it and use that in DotN. Kind of... Weapons with natural elements accumulate VERY slowly. It's better to rely on skills and spells for it.
Do people really compare this to dark souls? That's really strange, in my opinion it's a lot more difficult than the souls series and that's because like you stated it's a lot more about farming for the right gear with the combination of skill, really cool to see it was released on the PS5 I was just thinking about redownloading it so I actually get a PlayStation 5 which probably won't be for a while still

Dude this is the best build of the dozens of build videos I have watched, thank you so much. Only thing I (kinda) disagree with: I feel like Elden Ring is even much more build-dependent than Nioh. With ER as soon as I realized I need a ton of vigor, a shield and got Blasphemous Blade the game got easy immediately (almost boring in fact). Afaik that is not possible in Nioh. Enemies are much more unforgiving, getting 2-hit is far from rare, even if you put a lot of points into Constitution early… So yeah I personally feel like Nioh is even more Sekiro than it is Elden Ring…

As the Armor level is around lvl 67. And i am lvl 108
And soul matching cost to much i think.
I farm the text for the armor & Spear today.
Not sure if i was total lucky or what, But i got both in 7 try's.
I do have item drop rate on my armor and Accessoires.
As i wanted A change from my Dual Sword & Odachi to switchglaive & Spear to see if i like them.
If I can give a tip for farming Onmyo & Ninja Skill point.
In the second area (Soaring) the Sub Mission "A Hot-blooded Howl"
At the shrine before you have to go underground, And it have Enki next to it.
If you make sure you have 2-3 flaming Heron and 2-3 Water Heron
And 6-8 Lighting Shots And 6-8 Water Shots (you can reset before and after this mission for a low cost)
The Heron if hit, can kill it with 1 Water Heron, and 1-2 Flaming Heron.
With Onmyo i go 2 Water, 2 Lighting, And keep doing like that to i kill it, Onmyo is a bit slower.
So i normal go Ninja point first and it is super fast.
All so if one dont want to go for 100.000 point, Simple go for 30.000 point, that what need for the first one to unlock.
But i do the 100.000 as i find it super easy to do...
It is very fast (I think it is) and easy to get 30.000 or 100.000 in both Onmyo & Ninja,
So one is ready for the upcoming mission´s for Onmyo & Ninja.
And bonus is the Enki can drop Enki pelt that need to Craft the Warrior of the East Armor
