So good to see you back again. Love watching you carve, no music or talking, just the sound of a knife slicing through wood, great stuff!

Fantastic whittling, Kevin! I am also a carver of little guys. Been doing that since the 1990s. I am gobsmacked how much detail you have accomplished using this big fish knife. Your artistry is just a wonderful example of the true art of whittling, how it is possible to create a beautiful piece of collectible art by just using your fish knife. Kudos to you, and thank you very much for sharing with us your amazing talent and skill!

Kevin....i watch your videos in utter amazement with my jaw dropped to the floor mostly. I wanna think that you have a magic fish knife and that's the secret. Then, i think its the magic Canadian wood you have. Then, I think its those powerful fisherman hands you have...so strong it humbles the wood to mold to your will. Then i finally realize...you are just such a gifted magician yourself. You move from one cut to the other because you have practiced and carved so much to hone your craft. Thanks again for sharing your talent and helping us along our journey. You ARE my Yoda!!

Had an old Russell green river curved skinning knife. No idea where I got it as I do not hunt
Checked the web page. The knives are carbon. Took the dremel to it today and cut it like yours
Got a good edge on it

Perfect cut procedure of 2 "figures Mr. Coates. Cutting angle, depth of cut thanks to years of practice. Best video I have seen so far and I have seen many of them. Yesterday I tried it according to the video, but it went wrong I haven't seen the finished figure from 4. Looks like I'm going to try to fix it again, but it won't be anymore If I can ask for 4 star views of the finished figure in the video, it would make it easy for me followers who want to try it and don't have as much experience as you. Thanks for the video, you're good.
Perfektný postup rezu 2" figúrky pán Coates. Uhol rezu, hĺbka rezu vďaka dlhoročnej praxe. Najlepšie video čo som doteraz videl a to som ich videl už veľa.

Kevin, beginning carver here. Love your technique...inspiring. Have you ever carved other wood types besides pine and basswood? My experience with basswood from the local hardware store is that it’s pretty hard. I can get all the white Cedar wood I’d ever need from our woods. I may also be able to find a dead basswood tree. If I find a dead standing basswood and cut it up, how long do I need to let the wood dry?

Hi Kevin. After all your videos I am still amassed at what you can do with that knife. I was wondering if that is a survivor from your time in the fishing industry or have you had to search and find replacements over the years. Did you arrive at the shape like the angle at the end by accident or did you try different angles till you got the one you like? Thanks for posting. You and your family stay well.
