Try Kingdom of Heaven Part 3
This is art.
Yes it is!!!
Love the band.
Epica - Kingdom of Heaven Pt3 (Omega Alive) would be my recommendation.
Its must.
You're ready for this one
EPICA Rules! Thanks for reaction!💯🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for watching!
A masterpiece. Simone is a goddess.
Interesting thing about the filming of this. The cameraman could only see what he could see through the camera so he had to have another guy shadowing him so he didn’t step into the fire.
They weren't kidding when they named their band Epica. 😄
Facts!
Firs it was "sahara dust" but became epica immediately
ye based on an album of Kamelot. Also, Simone hooked up with their keyboard player lol. Small world😂
Victims of Contingency and The Essence of Silence are probably my favorite songs
Shes walking away from the mic at the beginning because they shot two songs in a row with one shot and the first one is also a masterpiece in my opinion - "Rivers A Capella"
I like "Rivers A Capella", but the live version of Rivers with Apocalyptica I love even more.
i agree
@@DeepeningTheListening My favorite was the live version from their 20th anniversary concert. They started acapella and then brought in the full band in the later part. It was the best of both styles perfectly blended. I watched the concert on the livestream and the video and audio quality was amazing. Keep hoping they will release DVD of the concert because I want to be able to relive it over and over.
Only 1-2 songs? Damn that's tough. I'd go with 'Essence of Silence' and 'Design your universe' next.
Keep up the great reactions :)

Thank you
This song overloads my beauty-sensor, it's purrrrfect! Epica as a band is just a critical mass of talent, tone and taste. Their music is so damn elegant, that's what sets them apart for me, it's high class in every aspect. Pretty sure Simone is an actual angel by the way.
Sometimes she´s The Angle of Death . Look at Ayreon Transitus
And yes Simone is above a queen, she is a vocal goddess! Her first solo album Vermillion due out next month is SO eagerly anticipated 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I am really hoping that this is what Angels sound like. It will be a huge compensation when I finally have to go!
Nut first epica range
Try ‘Run for a fall’ and ‘Cry for the moon’ live at paradiso. You won’t be disappointed

That intro with Isaac on his custom seven string Les Paul is achingly beautiful with the piano and Coen. As you dive deeper into Epica you will see they reign supreme and true to the roots of symphonic METAL and the most beautiful ballads as well. Hell this is my second favorite ballad from them. This from the streaming pandemic virtual concert this song and rivers done right after it we’re done in a one shot take! Great reaction my dear! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

When it comes to egos and everyone wanting to be the best, you won't find that with Epica, this band has been together in this line-up for so long, I think they're like best friends. By the way, Simone and the founder of Epica, Mark Jansen, were a couple at the beginning of the band. After they broke up, they decided to continue with Epica. I can imagine how hard that must have been, but now they are like siblings and I think they know each other inside out.
I saw a recent article in Blabbermouth where Simone talked about that. In the article Mark even mentions how unique it is to have a good relationship with your ex-girlfriend and that their partners are supportive of the friendship as well. Simone is married to Oliver Paloti, keyboardist for Kamelot and Mark is in a long term relationship with Italian soprano Lisa Macrai, who in addition to her classical work sings in Mark's side project Mayan.
So far you have mainly seen the softer side of Epica. If you want to continue on this path, "Rivers" is a great choice. But I think you'd like to see a heavier song of them. Check out "Consign to Oblivion (live in Paris)"!
EPICA feat. APOCALYPTICA - Rivers (Live At The AFAS) is my favourite song from them. It just sends you on a beautiful journey.

Hi Amie, here is another song from the same show 🙃
Omega Alive, is the name of their Pdemic streaming concert from 2021

Thank you!!!!
Thank you!!!!
Thank you, I'll do that one soon :)
Next Epica song: “The Essence of Silence” Live! 🤘
Simone is our Metal Mermaid. For confirmation, check out her cover of Part of Your World from Little Mermaid.
Epica, Nightwish, Ayreon - three sources of phenomenal music and with outstanding singers and musicians. And they all co-operate. For example Simone and Floor are longtime good friends and sometimes sing together and you can find both in Ayreon projects.
One of my favourite Epica tracks it is nigh on perfect!
I'm more about power and dynamic, but that voice, that melody, it's like she is touches you soul!
Then check out Adrienne Cowan of The New Jersey based symphonic metal band Seven Spires! Wow!
Someone already suggested cry for the moon and run for a fall but I’d suggest the We Will Take You with Us versions.
adding links. Run for a Fall (this version): th-cam.com/video/qU1q7uOFXUI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MKHHAYcdwR3Q5QT2 Cry for the Moon: th-cam.com/video/9x1AzOA3G2I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fWnDnlw1V1LT5NFB
Loved your reaction. The strings and extra voices are probably the backing tracks from the original studio version. Epica record strings and other orchestral aspects, including choirs, live in the studio, so it is mostly those recordings they use as backing tracks when they play live.
I have heard that the drummer, Arien, often does the speaking parts because he can do so without an accent, not sure how true this is. Also, the keyboard player’s wife, Linda, does additional vocals whenever a single backing vocal is required on their recordings so the whispered “eerie voice” may well be her in this performance.
Enjoy the journey!
Masterpiece from the favourite band 🤘😎🤘
@Amie: You summed it up really well at the end. That's exactly why I love Nightwish and Epica so much. And as with Nightwish, you won't find any bad songs with Epica either. That's why I'm pushing you even deeper down the rabbit hole. You really need to react to Ayreon next. "The Day That The World Breaks Down" official The Source 2017, why? Ayreon is the masters of the metal musical. The song has 11 (!) lead singers. Some you already know. Trust me. It should be the next one. 😄
What Floor Jansen for Nightwish that's Simone Simons for EPICA. And both are from the Netherlands and they are close friends.
Fantastic. The Dutch metal scene could fulfill all your wildest dreams for the rest of your life. Just the best of the best. It must be the water over here....Epica, Ayreon, After forever, the Gentle Storm, within Temptation, and the singers: Floor Jansen, Anneke van Giersbergen, Simone Simons, Charlotte Wessels, Dianne van Giersbergen, Marcela Bovio, Irene Jansen and so on and so on.
And I deeply apologize to those amazing Dutch musicians that blow your mind in all these productions whose name I don't mention. These deserve to be well known too. All of them. Put all those tulips, windmills and wooden shoes aside. Holland's got a new export product: the Dutch metal scene. So much talent. Rise up a very big statue for them!!!!
Simone sings Memory really well also!!
Simone has no piercings or tattoos, what you see near her eyebrows are glued beads, they are often used in makeup.
In the original, this song has a beautiful orchestral intro, but here they improvised with guitar and keyboards and it's very cool. And all this was filmed with one movement of one camera.
Just for feel divercity you need to hear "final lulaby" feat shining. Nut only after "rivers" feat Apocalyptica and "kingdom of heaven p.3" studio live.
Great reaction to one of my favorite Epica songs. Inspired by the dark German fairytale about the Alder King or Erlking who steals the souls of children who linger to long in the woods by killing them with a single touch. The male voice here is the evil enchanter trying to lure the young traveler to his side with promises of power and tender care by his daughters. Simone has said the song is symbolic of being stuck in a life without a happy ending and how our innocence is taken away from us as soon as we are born.
The piano/guitar intro is unique to this live performance. On the album the intro is a long orchestral piece with violins.
Funny you mentioned Nightmare Before Christmas. Simone, her husband Oliver Palotai (keyboardist in Kamelot) and their son Vincent recorded a version of This is Halloween during the pandemic that is on her YT channel. She also recorded a beautiful version of Part of Your World from Little Mermaid that is on her YT channel as well. She is a real life Ariel.
The video work for Epica is always fantastic and most of their recent stuff has been filmed a gentleman named Jens the Panda. Pretty sure he filmed all of the Omega Alive stuff and if you watch their live one shot video of Rivers from Chile you will see the same style.
Next Epica I think you need to go heavy with either Consign to Oblivion live from the Zenith in Paris or Essence of Silence live from Brussels. I don't think you've heard Mark's death metal harsh vocals yet.
That’s some great information my friend thank you for sharing 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Sooo Goood First class !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Epica doing Epica things Amie...... loved your reaction. Looking forward to your next one already.
Thank you so much 😁
The magic with these compositions is what makes Symphonic Metal so wonderful. The two most powerful bands on that scene (in my opinion) are Nightwish and Epica.
In Nightwish you have the genius Tuomas Holopainen (a.k. The Metal Mozart) who writes ALL music and lyrics for Nightwish. They however arrange the compositions together.
In Epica you have the founder Mark Jansen, who left his original band After Forever (where Floor Jansen started here carrere) to start Epica where he is one of the main composers.
Welcome again to the most wonderful genre of Metal in my opinion.
Greetings from Sweden.
Power metal in symphonic genre is Epica, Fleshgod Apocalypse, maybe Delain….Nightwish is more “cinematic” music
Thanks for showing such a sensitive approach. I love this performance. It raises the original song to another level. Magical
Thank you
Shades of Tony Iomie in that guitar
I just think that all these European bands are allowed to do their thing because the music industry there is more open to art than products. I remember hearing an interview in the late 90s with Motley Crue when they came to Edmonton, and the interviewer asked why they were playing clubs, and right on air - don't remember who they were interviewing - they stated that it wasn't because they couldn't sell out the arena - it was because the industry shelved them in the early 90s. Same reason Vito Bratta quit altogether when he was told - "no more tapping solos, no more shred, play sloppy slow solos..." The North American music scene - at least pop and what gets the attention, is controlled by people that want to make money not art. Why don't we hear this stuff in North America - it doesn't sell beer. OK rant over....
Facts!
Ah yes epica sister band to nightwish and wintersun pastor Amie and my fellow subcribers. And she Simone Simmons is to me the most beautiful redhead on the planet wow wow wow! Wintersun Alex in Texas ❄️👋😍❤️
The live performance of Sancta Terra must be next (unless I missed a reaction to it already). Duet between Simone and Floor is fantastic.
Nice lady, since you like classic music you should go back to EPICA's beginning (2003) and see young Simone (18yrs old) and Mark Jansen (20yrs old) in one of the benchmarks of Symphonic Metal, THE PHANTOM AGONY (the remastered studio live version). Cheers from Greece!

Love your commentary!
Awwwww, thank you!
When you´re ready for another rabbithole of Metal check out Powerwolf - a German power metal band that was founded in 2003.
Their music is really epic and for their recordings they use church organ and church choirs.
Most songs are in English and style/lyrics of the band are characterized by the treatment of Christianity and ancient Romanian legends.
Check out some songs like: Demons are a Gilrs best friend / 1589 / Kreuzfeuer / Stossgebet / We drink your blood / Sinners of the Seven Seas / Sainted by the Storm / Sanctified with Dynamite and many more...
I´m sure you will like it
🤘🐺
Love me some Powerwolf. My favorite version of Demons are a Girls Best Friend is the one with Alissa White-Gluz as the lead singer. Music video is fire. Also love Blood for Blood (Faoladh) with Melissa Bonny. Got tickets to see them in the US with Unleash the Archers. That show is going to be amazing.
I love how you enjoys this band! I love Epica!! There is still soooo much great songs for you to find out. Here's my two recommendations:
- Consign From Oblivion (Live from Paris)
-Sancta Terra (Live from Retrospect with a special guest that i won't spoil, but you WILL love it!!)
I'll add those to my list, thank you :)
❤
🇳🇱👌🤘💪
Rivers with the Cello group.
Hi Amie. First a big shout out to your reactions. I do not even see but feel your total love for the music you show us. Loved all of your Nightwish stuff as Floor is my alltime Queen, but that said Simone is her twin sitting on the same throne. I simply cannot decide who touches me more - nor do I want to. Only way to see something better is them both together in a duet which they did on the Retrospect concert with 'Sancta Terra'. I would like to see your reaction to that one!
th-cam.com/video/cx22Yuj2nzg/w-d-xo.html
Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, Ayreon and some more - there is more than enough stuff for years to come and I will follow you like a dog in search for treats Amie!
Greetings from Germany
Thank you :)
🤘
Love your reaction, the appreciation you have for the details makes me smile. My suggestions would be Kingdom of Heaven Pt. 1: th-cam.com/video/PF56D9mrlck/w-d-xo.htmlsi=tz8zPfsTvFH3EIZn or Menace of Vanity: th-cam.com/video/RUiIilJYRf0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dx1zuz5CC-3W07Rg

tcek marco tarot band 2024 live
hei tceks rarot band marco tides ok.❤❤❤❤❤❤
You have now listened to two of the best Dutch female singers. There are more. Anneke van Giersbergen of the Gathering, Charlotte Wessels ex Delain, Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation and Dianne van Giersbergen of Ex Libris to name a few. By the way, Floor Jansen has a wider vocal range than Simone Simons below and above (excluding the even lower metal growls).
Floor can go lower and do some growls but she def does not do effortless pure highs like Simone does and Simone has more perfect diction along the lines of Tommy Karevick of Kamelot, but they’re both great no need to compare
Floor and Simone have approximately the same range, there are plenty of videos of both of them on TH-cam. They just have different timbres and the “comfortable” range is also different, Floor’s is slightly lower, but they are almost the same in width. And the growling of Floor is frankly sad, all this is clearly visible in contrast, watch her performance with the group Soilwork, she really got lost there against the background of their vocalist
@@wildhoney126 Simone's range is D3 - B6 ( flat ) whereas Floor is C3 - F6. So lower to higher. Also she doesn't deliberately overpower people that she sings with whether Soilwork, Evergrey, Avantasia, Marko or Henk Poort to name a few unlike a previous Nightwish singer had to.
@@clivematthews5296 Simone's range goes up to E6, and what matters is the quality of how the singer hits those high notes. To my ears and Simone’s belting, it sounds more professional than Floor’s, such a proper “meowing” sound, while Floor often just goes into screaming. Floor sounded much better in after forever, she had beautiful academic vocals there, and now in a duet with this same Hank Port, her academic singing sounds like whining, I absolutely don’t like this duet, it’s time for grandpa to leave the stage, his voice is old It just sounds ugly (with all due respect to his merits). Despite the fact that I think Floor is much better than Tarja, Tarja and Marko sang the phantom too smartly, the duet Floor + Henk is many times worse. And if we're talking about duets, the duet of Simone + Roy Khan is 🔥.
@@clivematthews5296 Floor over power Marko!? LMAO! Now Brittney Slayes or Adrienne Cowan maybe….
