Fair warning before you watch the video: I pronounce the names as I've used them throughout the years so be ready for mispronunciations out the wazhoo. And for my most egregious mistake: I called Essedarii a normal monster when he's an effect monster. But with his only effect listing how he can be summoned, he's just a funny monkey in a chariot.
The Gladiator Beast are a long-running archetype within Yu-Gi-Oh! which primarily focused on the battle phase. Debuting in the year 2007, throughout its years, it had an extremely successful run, topping and winning multiple events in its lifespan. But as time wore on, that's not the case anymore for these combatants of the arena with the ever-present hand of powercreep and its decayed playstyle, they slowly faded from the competitive scene as result, only seeing play in Edison and the most casual of settings, finding rest within the bulk boxes of the community.
But with the recent news of new support coming in the next set, 'Supreme Darkness', is there a chance that this support gives these fighters the chance to fight their way back into the battlegrounds of Yu-Gi-Oh! once again?
That was a good blast from the past.
@@TylerBTalking Thank you brother! I love the Glads and with the new support, I figured it was time to bring the Glads back for anyone interested in the archetype! Thank you again for checking out the video!
Holy crap. This channel came out of nowhere when you consider the high quality work you just did here. This had to be a big time sink for you and I applaud you for the effort you put into this GB focused video.
The presentation was spot on too. Whole futuristic vibe going on here while be funny with some of the cuts like what doYgo does on his channel (the spinning gorilla roflmao 😂)
I know I responded to a thread here already but you made me realize how strong Gistel (Magister) really is. Its our decks Fiendsmith Engraver it does that much.
Honestly I am happy with the new support and its well designed. So it pisses me off that Konami its get wrong or comes up short supporting older decks lol.
@@u.a.perfectace7786 I can't express enough how much comments like these make me feel brother, I appreciate it very much! It was definitely a time-sink but one that I'm very proud of and had a lot a fun making.
And I whole-heartedly agree on Konami just straight fumbling the bag when it comes to support for old decks, which is why it blew my mind when the support came out that was actually good, for an extremely old deck no less! They stepped up a tad with Fire Kings and Blue Eyes but still doesn't excuse their past atrocities lol.
Gistel was one that I was so hyped for. It does so many things for the deck at once that it's just an instant 3 of, no question about it.
Thank you brother, and I will definitely do my best to keep this level of content going and improve moreso in the future!
This is truly high quality content man, I hope your channel blows up
@@nguyenminhquan7975 Thank you very much! Learning Adobe was a mission but it makes me happy to hear that it paid off!
I *still* love my shitty Obnoxious Celtic Guard deck from like 04 or 05. It was never good but I still have it and I still smile thinking about it.
@@RunescapeMeister-san The fact you played it regardless of viability is something people tend to forget nowadays. Just playing the game and enjoying it because it had a card or archetype you enjoyed. Love that!
This was very informative and definitely a labor of love on your part. I haven’t played Yugioh but as a MtG player I understand a lot of the changes in gameplay over the years. Well done!
Thank you very much! As much as Yu-Gi-Oh changed and how bad Gladiator Beast are against the current metas, I still love my deck and will be playing it regardless.
Awesome job my dude! I'm always a fan of folks talking about something they know very well and you my friend are very knowledgeable. You're editing is great and had me laughing a lot of the times lol Keep it up!
Thank you brother! If you have any criticisms please let me know! Any information will help improve future content.
As someone who was really interested in the Glad Beasts when they first came out, and who is finally building the deck in readiness for the new support, this video is absolutely amazing!
@@JohnDoe-eo8ec I'm glad you found this useful! I love the glads and through thick and thin, I still used this deck and I hope to encourage other people to not just pick up Glads but continue to build and use decks that they enjoy despite their age.
@@scary_joey Wholeheartedly agree.
Great video Gladiator Beast is one of my favorites used to play it a lot on YGO World Championship 2009/10 way back. I still use from time time on Master Duel even if its power creeped.
@@euric869 Thank you brother! And I'm happy to hear that man. Yeah Glads don't got that one card starter or anything but I'd rather just play something I enjoy. And people tend to forget that War Chariot, Charge, and Rejection are still a thing lol
Thank you for giving Glads this love. Loved this video and how in depth it was. Can’t wait to see if you have more Glad Beast content coming
@@GoldAndGrey Absolutely! With alot of people making decklist and replays, I wanted to give some insight on why people are using or aren't using certain cards even though there is so many of them available! There will be more content down the pipeline, thank you for watching brother!
Joey you are doing so great!
@@shiftyshelly Thank you! Took me awhile but we finally got this video out!
Shelllyyyy
@@RunescapeMeister-san mugi?
@ Yeah, forgive my weird username lol
😂 I was like there is only one man who I know likes runescape that much
That really is a godly video. If you do these types of video for different archtypes and explain the deck, then it will surely be a long lasting success. Although I can see how time consuming that would be. Nevertheless bravo. I subbed :D
@@MrAMIRBEHRAD Thank you very much, I really appreciate it brother! I'm happy to hear the format I chose to explain the deck wasn't a bad move. I was kinda nervous because I didn't want it to seem like I was just yapping but I'll definitely do my best to go a little more in-depth whenever I can! Thank you again!
Hell Yes!!!! Joey, Another awesome video! Love it!
@@Souls_Apart Thank you man! If you have any criticisms, please let me know!
A very entertaining, informative and brilliantly edited video!
Thank you my friend! Any criticism if you have any is welcome, I'm always looking for ways to improve my content!

@@pigwillicker7689 Thanks for stopping in! Any criticism is welcome as I hope to improve!
But MBT said they killed gladiator beast's identity and made it a generic identityless combo deck
@@__-be1gk oh did he? Well shit lol. But they definitely made it EXTREMELY combo-orientated with these releases, which was a direction they were already headed in with the release of Editor and Comeback. But I wouldn't say they outright killed it's identity, it still does tag out shenanigans and still heavily relies on contacting fusing but this is the price to pay in this lawless wasteland of handtraps and boardbreakers lol.
I don't think I agree with GBs losing their identity. Even post SUDA, the deck still has the tag out feature and Contact Fusing. The Battle Phase not being the only way to get effects off is welcome change.
If anything, from what I seen, it's just got longer combos going for the classic 3-4 negate boards+A Battle Phase 2 via Claudius is something no other decks can do (with thr way cards recycle and reappear on thr field, its gonna come up. It's not win more imo).
@@u.a.perfectace7786 100% agree. Magister was the remedy (or consequence) for Glads in the modern day of Yu-Gi-Oh instead of living or dying by the battle phase which without him, they DEFINITELY wouldn't get there without some sort of interaction. And when things do start getting negated, you still have that good ol' battle phase to try and bring things around.
Can I splice this into Fiendsmith?
To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if it does work lol. But I guess the only thing I would say is since Engraver is a one-card starter, make your fiendsmith plays before you summon Dareios since he'll just hard-lock you into using only Glads for Link summons. And BOOM, more negates baby!
Doesn’t work well with ninjas unfortunately.
Are you sure? Have you tried Ninjitsu Art of transformation to summon Augustus from the deck?
@@scary_joey nah my card blew up when i tried that
