This was entertaining. Great interview. Both Hooky and JCC are really sharp guys. Quality humour there throughout. Hooky - it's so not about him this interview and John Cooper Clarke - this glimpse gives an insight into how fantastic a public orator he really is. Brilliant.
My idea of heaven would have been sitting next to John Cooper Clarke and Mark E Smith in a pub. If they were in a good mood, that is. Can't think of anything worse than both of them taking exception to me simultaneously. P.S. I'd never thought of Mark King as being Moriarty to Hooky's Sherlock Holmes, but it makes sense.
I sat next to him once on a sofa and had a long conversation and he couldnt have been more interesting, witty or kinder. He has always been someone living on his wits, a raconteur, especially during his lost years when I met him and he was living hand to mouth but he was also a lot more accessible then than he is now.
Peter Hook Interviews John Cooper Clarke 12.6.24 1003am his early forays into big shot limelight and performing playing at manning's club, the embassy, feigning to be a city fan, being ignored, listening to manning wax about guarding Herman Hess... hurrah!!!! .............. the old guard (from the alleged punk era) are probably only accessible now - which is ironic, as they're all jossing it. JJC always suggested he wasn't a punk, he just inadvertently stumbled into it...
Fan from the U.S of A here. Gave it a listen cos I used to love Joy Division back in the day but I couldn't understand what they were saying with those incredible authentic Scotch accents. I believe they are talking a mixture of English and Welsh which is what they speak over there. Might be some old Irish in there too. Hard to tell. Amazing that that's what evolved into American.
They're speaking 'Northern', as in North West England! I didn't notice any Scottish, Welsh or Irish particularly! It certainly is interesting that American evolved from all the different dialects!
Just love those salty stains under the arm pit our John. A pure sign of hard work under spot lights. That’s been a pur punk. Loved this interview. Many thanks you two good people👍😎

Brilliant! I listened to this on radio four when it came out years ago, and I was waiting for JCC’s joke about his script for the terrifying sequel to snakes on a plane. Alas, must’ve heard it somewhere else, but I always thought it was on that series.

I'm sure Hooky likes Mark King!
@@moosey62 Maybe, but I've noticed he gets in a few digs at Level 42 in his memoirs!
Ahh. It's like Eric Morcambe having a go at Des O'Conor!
Btw, I met MES and he was really friendly!

Great interview.
I would never have thought of Hooky as a Bebop Deluxe fan !!!
I think they are quite an underrated band, loved their original sound/music, back in ‘77
I want to hear about the Honey Monster's heroin years. Maybe JCC will write about it, some day...
What, you mean like if he wrote a 2nd autobiography?!
I thought that was a photo of a young Bob Dylan! :0)
The Bob Dylan of poetry
Me too
I have met them both
I have two heroes. JCC is one of them.
One day someone will find the tape of the Capitol '82 joint encore
Salford, the poor man's Rochdale.

Class that John is word perfect and hasn't really got a clue who the new order clown is.

The "laugh track" is the live audience, and if you think JCC doesn't know who PH is then you're the clown, cocker.
Salford prized BECAUSE they were poored. .
The canned laughter is SO hateable, which BBC shirt and tie man thought that was a good idea?
The interview was recorded in front of a live audience, you tit.
Thought it was Alex Jones interviewing Bob Dylan.
I don’t think you’ll find many black people in Guernsey either John….
Class act ! John Cooper ! ☘️☘️
Ecce, non perturbo!
best line "I'm like a tart with no knickers" it doesn't get any more Salford than that.🤣 I love these two me.
My nan always used to say "Fur coat, no knickers" 😂
