@CovertGoBlue There was a game play error at the end - Shea should not have won. Bastion of Remembrence activates when a creature DIES , not when a creature is EXILED. Therefore, when Shea uses Swords to Ploweshares. she EXILES her creature and therefore does NOT trigger Bastion of Remembrence. Still, enjoyed watching parts of the show at 1.5 speed.
Oh shoot, I thought you looked familiar! 😁 it was nice meeting you cgb and say hi to Ben for me. I used to go to high-school with him. I'll see yall around the gas station and keep up the fun games 😁 till next time!
Still one of the best cammander groups on YT, and the production value is also one of the best for viewing ease. Love the post game 'foundations' of each players first introduction to MTG.
Congrats on the Wizards sponsorship, it's so lovely seeing this group getting more recognition. This show is truly one of my absolute favorite Commander shows, everyone is so genuine and human. It's clear you have something very special, and I hope more people find this channel and get to experience your camaraderie and love of the game.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoyed this episode. I want to tell you how much I appreciated the ending segment. It’s a genuinely honest and touching moment hearing all of you share your experiences that got you into this game that we all love so much. Thank you. Thank you for all that you do to entertain us and to enlighten us, to help pass the time and to take our minds off of some difficult situations. This episode was definitely my favorite so far. I wish you all continued success and look forward to many many more episodes. Again thank you.
I was thinking that as well. Or he could have just swung out on CGB at least to trade flyers. He probably was thinking he could make flying blockers via counterspell, but CGB made the critical play of not putting a spell on the stack.
I hope Foundations sells gangbusters, far beyond any other set. I want WotC to see that people still care about Magic as an IP, and love its world without the gimmicks and crossovers.
Well it sells pretty good from what im seeing online but so did the Lotr set ans most recently marvel so i dont think things will change very soon. Wotc just looks at a algorithm and let that make a decision l.
OK, you got me. That last part was so emotional for me 🥺. My history started very similar to CGB's, so if you don't mind, here is my foundation story: My best friend at the time and me went to the same college for the first year after high school. We used to sneak out of classes a lot (not proud), and with nothing else to do and no money, it used to get pretty boring. One day, he brought a box of cards his uncle gifted him long ago, a game called "Magic the Gathering", which we didn't know, so it wouldn't be that much boring. So we learned basic Magic with the rules in the box (it was Anthologies). Hearing CGB talk about the hydra made me remember my friend and me playing Angel of Serra or Lady Orca and insta-saying "GG!" because we thought those cards were OP. After that, slowly we started "teaching" our friends and soon our whole group was playing standard. We played standard for just one year, got introduced to Commander, and we made the jump. It has been so much since I last thought about the path we made in Magic. So much memories I thought lost. Thank you very much for the refresher, you guys are super cool :)
Gotta love an unconventional use of a card winning a game. This episode made me feel like I can still make great decks without prohibitively expensive cards
This was an amazing episode. From the intro to the game and finally that outro. I was hit with a flood of emotions and memories from my first magic cards in 2001. It was so long ago, but that statement of playing with friends and just having fun learning the game. Years after i would stop every couple of years and start up again, then get introduced to the commander format in 2019 and havent stopped since. I think foundations just hits me with that nostalgia from years ago with my first cards. All these releases and no set since return to ixalan set has sparked any juice. I think I am gonna acquire a couple of these foundations boxes and get those creative juices flowing. Thank you guys for any who read this, and CGB and the crew for the awesome games. I dont play standard except the occasional limited with friends and at my lgs, but I get to enjoy it through CGB's channel when he is on arena. Much love to all players
One thing about foundations I absolutely love is they have that 5 color starter box with 5 decks in it which if you then get the starter box it perfectly upgrades the starter decks. Amazing way to get a play group started with friends who aren't familiar and it doesn't break the bank at all.
I enjoyed so much watching this, It reminded me of the time when my friends and I would play for hours, now all of us have moved on, I'm a dad and I just play Arena from time to time
My favourite video on this channel to date. I have been watching you all for years now. The Worst Possible Commander show has become my favourite piece of the channel, (have also watched near everything on CovertGoCrew also!) though I started watching you, CGB, play Standard. This video really got to my emotions in the best way. Very happy for and proud of you all. Thank you for moving my heart today. You’re cool too 💕
Been binging all this content recently. Standard vids, into CHB now worst, and honestly it’s become my favorite commander series to watch. Feels more casual with player personalities and reflects many of the players I personally interact with. Cheers to all the great content!
Very fun episode! Foundations seems like a great set for new players. I will always remember the first magic product I bought. M15 intro decj resolute archangel. Still my fav card to play to this day.
Congrats Shea for the epic "bolt-plow" win! I enjoyed seeing it so much, I insta-replayed it! All decks played so well! I'm glad Ben got past his early/mid-flooding to have a chance to win! Worst Possible Cmdr Show...anything but! GG guys!
The end of the episode really highlights why I live MTG as well. It's about what crazy stuff can be pulled off and who creates the most amazing story with their deck.
It's so cool to hear about MTG origin stories from you all. Also, was that Camp Greilick in MI? If so, that's wild. We also played magic there, and that's where my love for the game started. One of my fondest memories was playing during a backpacking trip to one of the Manitou islands
Yes! Funny enough years after CGB learned magic there I ended up working there as a camp councilor and the person in charge of all the order of the arrow ceremonies
@BlakeMTG that's sick! I was in OofA as well, small world!! I've moved to South MI since then. Thank you again for sharing your origins and love the games.
As soon as I learned about Bloodthirsty Conquerer I knew for a fact Shea would be the one to play him in the Foundations episode. I am not disappointed lol great game yall!
Shea: makes the first move, gets punished for it, takes a back seat while trying to survive. CGB: is loud and makes sure everyone knows he exist, but doesn't do much. Blake: ramps aggressively and becomes a threat the table has to deal with. Ben: ramps seemingly for nothing, and suddenly goes big.
We haven't seen swords to plowshares win a game on this channel since cgb did it when he was playing myrkuul. Phenomenal ending to an insane game both times.
I'm just started the video and I'm already rooting for Blaze, I didn't know that Niv could go infinite just by his own selves, and I'm going to build around that sooo much.
I’m shocked Blake didn’t build Zimone to go for The Millennium Calendar. I just built her myself with all colorless artifacts like that and Darksteel Reactor 😂

Have you guys done Unglued / Unhinged/ Unsanctioned yet? It would be a great way to maximize the silly nonsense 😂
@@MathDontLie Shea didnt use Bastion of Remembrence. She gained 3 from Swords to Ploweshares and therefore Sanguine Bond dealed that much to Ben
@@Giperon1602 thanks for the update - my bad :)

Do you know how desperately I was hoping the ‘one card’ in the intro was Mesa Falcon?
SAME
He needs to put it in one of his decks one of these episodes.
Ditto
The regular crew for Worst Possible will always be my favorite.
"That's gonna be a doozie, they're gonna attack the other player and win" never stop being you Ben, the timmiest timmy
Blake is sooo agressive lol, he just sees red and goes all in on attack while leaving himself dead on board.
I was thinking that as well. Or he could have just swung out on CGB at least to trade flyers. He probably was thinking he could make flying blockers via counterspell, but CGB made the critical play of not putting a spell on the stack.
but he almost got there this time!
@justintolentino9222
"Swung out on CGB"
Jheeze, stay in school, kids.

I loved foundations. And I loved LOTR
I think It is a good set low key

The Niv guy looked annoyed about the life loss two card combo and then reveals he is playing Niv lol
That outro... its genuine and everything you guys mentioned is also true for me to some degree.
Magic the Gathering
IS MAGIC
As I think of it, this new Zimone would be pretty amazing in Blake's bant millenium calendar deck :)

You cooked with that intro. Gave me chills
I felt bad for Shea most of this game, but what an amazing finish!
Blake, that jacket is sick
Blake’s deck was strong ! Love it😊
Here for raise the past. If you were at the drip shop live stream, you know 2⃣️
every single kill this game was SO GOOD. continues to be my favorite commander group to watch. cool decks, fun game, gg guys.
Love the foundations blurb at the end! Fun to hear these stories!

Loved the “ what sparked my love for the game” sequence at the end. Thanks for sharing!
Very fun episode! Foundations seems like a great set for new players. I will always remember the first magic product I bought. M15 intro decj resolute archangel. Still my fav card to play to this day.
Great game always a pleasure to see this group battle each other. Love the outro of where you all came into magic it's really sweet
I don't usually get excited and laugh out loud watching game play videos, but that game winning play did it for me.
Best episode so far and one of the most entertaining recorded edh matches I've seen.
Congrats Shea for the epic "bolt-plow" win! I enjoyed seeing it so much, I insta-replayed it! All decks played so well! I'm glad Ben got past his early/mid-flooding to have a chance to win!
Worst Possible Cmdr Show...anything but! GG guys!
Amazing game guys! And great ending too. Loved to hear your stories of your first contact with Magic and see your faces while reviving those moments.
The end of the episode really highlights why I live MTG as well. It's about what crazy stuff can be pulled off and who creates the most amazing story with their deck.
Love these guys. Incredible game again, BRA-VO. 😊😊
Strong contender for the Best of the Worst. Cool intro, nice decks, fun game, awesome ending and a beautiful final segment.
That was a really sick intro. The rest of the episode is great too, but man that intro was *chef's kiss*
I understood that reference! 40:07
I knew the second Kykar got spoiled I could trust CGB to build it for this show
Oh man I wish Blake would have won 🏆 😕 😢 😪 😞 🙄 🏆. He really got the good start. 👍 Shea winning was cool.
Great game! Probably the first time I saw Cgb reading a card that wrong :D
Great video. Loved the outro.
You guys are the best! Thanks for the great vids, I’m glad the guest video was successful, but the OG crew is the best
That ending segment was incredible. ❤
This episode was hilarious! Thanks guys.
Great Episode :)
Peak episode! Had a great time watching you guys!

*all of you
...or just 'you'.
Damn what an intro. *sheds single tear*
As soon as I learned about Bloodthirsty Conquerer I knew for a fact Shea would be the one to play him in the Foundations episode. I am not disappointed lol great game yall!
That Rock Hydra has really lived out its best life. Wow.
That misread definitely not appearing on the internet was painful. Felt that in my soul
5head play for the win 🥇
We’ve all done that CGB. We’ve all done that.
This was such a great game and I loved the stories at the end.
Great game everyone! Especially love the Outro and hearing each of your stories about how you started playing! ❤️🔥🫂🙏👏
39:56 at this moment... CGB knew that... lmao. Prof would say, "reading the card, explains the card".
That intro was so wholesome
What a great video.
I really love the backstories.
39:58 “-oh, mana value.” LMFAOOOOOO
40:58 I see now how raise past has come to haunt you during the Drip stream😅
What a great outro, thank you. You're cool
"Reading the card explains the card" - The entire internet to CGB 2024.
"Going infinite with himself" sounds like a euphemism.
40:11 Okay the raise the past makes sense. What a whiff 😂
Cool episode. 2 decks slightly interested in myself.
Blake being a theatre kid checks out...
That promo intro was that perfect combination of cheesy, yet hopeful. It actually made me really, really excited to go and buy Foundations.
That twitching doll playmat is so savage
Very epic goof CGB that really killed me
What an ending! EPIC!
The stories and the end were sweet. You're cool. ❤
Was feeling bad for the first half, felt like only 2 decks were doing anything relevant, but that sure changed at the end! 😅
Great game!!! what an ending 😆
Every time Blake is winning, this game becomes a 3 to 1 thanks to CGB 😉
We haven't seen swords to plowshares win a game on this channel since cgb did it when he was playing myrkuul. Phenomenal ending to an insane game both times.
39:55 I understand the drip live stream now
that end was emotional
I hope you got the bag for this because it is a FANTASTIC promotional piece
Blake you look very cute today without a hat. :3 I’m just a tired old lady from Louisiana so no creepy vibes intended
but cgb your origins were so cute and sweet you guys are like my friends
Great win!!!🎉
I'm just started the video and I'm already rooting for Blaze, I didn't know that Niv could go infinite just by his own selves, and I'm going to build around that sooo much.
This niv mizzet pile looked .sweet.
The intro ❤
Blake is a theater kid. Shocking! (by which I mean, totally not shocking)
A+ Outro
23:13 This is not the best tree in the world, this is just a tribute.
great powerlevel, great game!
I need that jacket blake is wearing. HELLA fresh.
I love the part when Niv Mizzet said it’s Nivvin’ time and Nivved all over the place
1:17 NONE OF THOSE CARDS CAME ON THOSE "SET BOOSTERS" !!!!
hahaha
no way
but K.
Time for the lore behind the raise the past!
That was a cool ending
Pretty great game with CGB not reading his card and Shay with her brilliant removal play.
Where did Blake get that awesome hoodie?!
I’m shocked Blake didn’t build Zimone to go for The Millennium Calendar. I just built her myself with all colorless artifacts like that and Darksteel Reactor 😂
Lunar insight is good ;)
39:53 I guess you had no lands for the card 😂😅
