I like at how at time index 1:21 rescues the fishing pole while presumably his dad struggles to get his brother's foot out of the switch point! Priorities!🤣🤣
Also, when a railroad worker advises and yells at the kids for being on the tracks, you listened. Not today kids have such an attitude and feel they can disrespect their elders and etc
Note that for the train wreck simulations, they use HO-scale model trains made by Mantua/TYCO. BTW, you said this is from 1965, but at the end the copyright year reads 1967 in Roman numerals.
One year in school they showed us this movie and at the scene where the bad kid throws the rock and hits the engineer this one boy in my class burst out laughing and our teacher yelled at him "GO OUTSIDE!" and kicked him out.
This documentary is actually older than 1965. The cop that comes for the two brats that threw the rock that hit the engineer? He is in a 1967 model Ford sedan.
That yard where the kid gets his foot stuck in the switch I wanna guess that’s Poughkeepsie yard... I think I see the “walkway over the Hudson” in the background... and that bridge where the kid is trying to get out of the way I believe that’s in beacon just south of the station...
The New York Central Railroad later merged with the Pennsylvania Railroad to form the Penn Central Railroad. In 1970, it filed for bankruptcy and six years later, its assets were transferred to Conrail. Conrail was divided and made defunct by CSX and Norfolk Southern in 1999.
That one kid looking from a close distance at the baby birds in the nest should realize the mother bird will fly away and abandon the baby birds and nest. Never go near one like that
No they won't. They'll fly away to distract you and have you focus your attention on them, but unless you destroy the nest, they will always come back.
If someone moves or removes the nest, the mother will never locate it again. Birds find places by memory. And they're keeping a beady little on on you all the time too, why, they even know what you're thinking! Then they come and try to terrify you by coming into your home! And we all know what that means!
Great suggestions that still hold true today! 🚂
They showed us this film every year at Keene Mill School ( Springfield, Virginia ) back in the early 1970s.
I remember watching these kinds of films in elementary school! Thanks!

this music is pretty awesome
Loved the old LIRR MP54 set.
I watched a Union Pacific RR safety video....... UP says to stay from 25 feet to the nearest rail
Also, when a railroad worker advises and yells at the kids for being on the tracks, you listened. Not today kids have such an attitude and feel they can disrespect their elders and etc
Well sorry kids today aren't good little Nazis.
Manners are societal contract. Your generation didn't live up, why should you have the right to blame this generation just because you are a geezer?
I had no idea that they were shortening the ladders on freight cars as early as 1965.
Note that for the train wreck simulations, they use HO-scale model trains made by Mantua/TYCO.
BTW, you said this is from 1965, but at the end the copyright year reads 1967 in Roman numerals.
I noticed the Roman-numeral 1967 too.
And its a PRR unit, in a video made by the NYC
awww the little cat🤗

Lmaoooo... I’m not about trying to hurt people but I would’ve prob been that kid
this comment made me laugh
Must have been made during the last pre merger days of the NYC.
Yelloweyeball Circa 1965 or 1967 so. Yes
At 2:25, it can’t be a coincidence that the boys are chucking rocks at PRR hoppers.
@@Mikey300 NYC and PRR had a rivalery, maybe it was this.
Also notice one of the models that they wrecked was a PRR passenger train
When I saw The Dollmaker, what happened to Cassie should convince ANYBODY to stay clear of parked trains and avoid trainyards.
This documentary is actually older than 1965. The cop that comes for the two brats that threw the rock that hit the engineer? He is in a 1967 model Ford sedan.
You meant "...younger than 1965..." of course.
Wasn't this a PSA riffed by Mystery Science Theatre 3000? Looks familiar . . .
That was Union Pacific's "Last Clear Chance"
everybody gangsta till the train starts moving

It is. I grew up in Poughkeepsie. Watched train there a lot. Also crossing the bridge.
That bridge is a draw bridge just south of the railroad station in wappengers falls. Just 8 miles south of Poughkeepsie.
Wonder where in Upstate NY was this shot?
Wappengers falls and Poughkeepsie.
@@train5974 I thought I recognized the Poughkeepsie railroad bridge. Glad I was not crazy/seeing things.
Kids throwing rocks? Thanks to them, the autoracks are enclosed. Nowadays, kids just tag the freight cars especially the refrigerator cars on BNSF.

Is no one gonna mention how we never see the chicken move
And then the train shows up
the chicken is dead
Velveeta on film. Pure cheese.

Kid with Rock: I'm about to end this man's whole career.
Does anyone have info on the intro and outro music?
sorry NPC
Roy Ross dome the music
@@DanzigFan-vq3zf I know that, but thanks.
Np
The train was on the left the track
New York Central "Road To The Shittiest Future Ever"
Even more dangerous for kids in the freight yards with the stupid RCO they use today.
I have seen those. WTF....
with remote control locomotives of today, if a kid gets run over by one, its nobodies fault as no one was in the cab, its ingenious!
I enjoyed this. I just have one question. Why did the chicken cross the tracks?
To play chicken with the train on the other set of tracks.
To show the ignorance of human children

Wait... what?
Read it again, it is correct.
No they won't. They'll fly away to distract you and have you focus your attention on them, but unless you destroy the nest, they will always come back.
The mother bird might even peck you in the face and get your eyes.
If someone moves or removes the nest, the mother will never locate it again. Birds find places by memory.
