“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). You have to hear LARA FABIAN’s version of this song. She sings like a Cabaret singer and sings it with intensity that makes you cry. I love Forestella. They have a bee song called SAVE US….unbelievable. Not sure the title is correct.
I don't think it's a good idea to compare cover songs. All singers have different voices, different emotions and different personalities, so it's impossible to compare them on an absolute basis. No one does a cover to outperform the original singer or another singer's cover song. The cover song is meaningful in that it contains your own interpretation that is different from the original song. Therefore, you can enjoy them with their own charms. Lara Fabian and Forestella have different charms and they are both great.👍🏻

Unlike you my preference is forestella. As much as I respect Lara I just get so emotionally connected to forestellas version of the song while with Lara it's just wow she's a great singer.
