Ce que j'aime, c'est bien sûr leur voix et leur interprétation, mais ce qui est remarquable, c'est que leur prononciation du français est impeccable; j'ai pu tout comprendre ce qu'il chantait; ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas de ceux qui ont une belle voix, mais qui n'ont pas travailler leur accent. Génial !
What I like is of course their voice and their interpretation, but what is remarkable is that their pronunciation of French is impeccable; I was able to understand everything they were singing; which is not always the case for those who have a beautiful voice, but who have not worked on their accent. Awesome !

I’d like to recommend you a new crossover group from South Korea I discovered recently. It’s called “Forténa” with combination of four tenors(I’ve heard it’s the first crossover group with four tenors). When I heard their cover song “Neapolis” I had a goosebumps everywhere. I’m sure you would like it and I’d love to hear your opinion about their singing.

Welcome to the world of FORESTELLA! They've met at an audition called "Phantom Singer 2" which finds the best male cross-over quartet in South Korea. Among hundreds of applicants, they survived to the last 12 singers. So, the judges divided those 12 singers into 3 groups. These 4 guys became as a one team, and they made their group name as "FORESTELLA(Forest + Stella), and this FORESTELLA has won that audition in 2017!
When they sing on the stage, they normally set their positions like this : The first one from the left side is Ko Woo Rim(bass, a grad schooler in vocal music), Kang Hyung Ho(conter-tenor, an ex research chemist, never been musically trained), Cho Min Kyu(tenor, M.A. degree in vocal music), Bae Doo Hoon(tenor, a musical actor). They have different voices and tones, and each one is super-talented. But, when they sing together, their harmony sounds like perfect! They covered many songs from opera to pop music.
Hope you could listen to their various cover songs and fall in love with them as I do. I wanna recommend a few songs for you. 1. Bohemian Rhapsody 2. Nella Fantasia 3. Time in a bottle 4. This is Forestella, a crossover group from Korea. They are the winner group in the Phantom Singer 2; an audition show to form a crossover quartet like il Divo from Korea. However as they have their own unique style, they won't be Korean il Divo, they will be the Forestella of the world!
Forestella has sung great covers like Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions, Hijo de la Luna, Heal the World, the Sound of Silence, My Favorite Things, Champions (mash-up of Champs league theme and Champions by Jo SuMi), Nella Fantasia, Scarborough Fair..etc etc. At the Phantom Singer All Stars they sang Time in a bottle, Je suis Malade as well. Shape of You in English, Spanish and African Zulu is fantastic indeed.
You can even see them dancing singing Smooth Criminal as well! And they broke the record of their own with EXO's MAMA winning 6 trophies for King of Kings in a row in Immortal Songs. Check their magnificent performances of Bad Romance and Lazenca Save us in King of Kings and Unwritten Legend too.
Forestella is a quartet of Ko WooRim (classical bass, intense abyss-deep low tone), Kang HyungHo (ex-research chemist, rock vocalist with soprano head voice falsetto), Cho MinGyu (classical leggiero tenor, light boyish crystal clear tone) and Bae DooHoon (musical actor, 159th King of the Masked Singers, emotion convincer good at R&B, Pop). Each has distinct tone and style of singing, different charm. But all of them are famous as practice-freaks. They meet almost everyday to practice together. In a radio program the leader (Cho MinGyu) revealed it would be around 20 days they didn't meet in the year. Bae DooHoon also said they don't meet 1~2 days in a month. I think this explains how their perfection can be possible.
Don't miss their m/v for Save our lives! It's full of wonders. Each of them is representing an element in the m/v. Recently they sang Fake Love of BTS and their song Save our lives at MAMA. Their new original song Utopia is a must check.
Now I see they are creating a genre called Forestella. They showed "What crossover is" with Save our lives and showing "What Forestella does" with Utopia!
This is famous French song, Je suis malade. (I'm sick) The original singer is Serge Lama however Forestella sang this song as an homage for Lara Fabian's version. It notes in the lyrics with terms in feminine form (orpheline, heureuse). But Serge Lama posted his praises about this stage on his official SNS. (Twitter, IG, FB).
Forestella released their Korean version of this song in their 3rd regular album: the Forestella. 눈물 속에 홀로 (Alone in tears) has lyrics in Korean. Even the words in the lyrics were changed alot from the original Je suis malade, you can feel the deep emotions and vibes of original in it if you try to listen. One of the members of Forestella (Bae DooHoon) contributed in writing some lyrics in Korean as well.

Koreans who are unfamiliar with French sang French songs. And people from many other countries as well as Korea are impressed and enjoying themselves. Does it matter if they are better than the original singer? They didn't sing this song to surpass the original singer. Can't we cheer them on just by discovering beautiful songs and letting more people know?

Lara Fabian is not the orignal singer of this song… Serge Lama wrote the lyrics out of a painful e’isode of his life, Alice Donna wrote the music… Serge Lama has a heart wrecking rendition of the song. Lara fabian came much later with it, put feminine on all relevant words (as in this one). Listen to Serge Lama if you really want compare… I think Serge Lama would be in tears listening to them…

The second singer whom you loved, is Bae Doo-Hoon (who is a baritone with Theatrical training). The third singer was Cho Mingyu (a Classically trained Tenor) and last singer (doing high notes) is Kang Hyung-Ho. He was a Research Chemist who sang part time in a Rock band. He had NO Vocal training prior to the show forming Forestella. Many Dimash fans like Chinese singer Hua Chenyu. He sings Rock/Metal, Rap, Pop, SynthPop, Reggae, Broadway, Ballads, Traditional Chinese.... EVERY genre. He's a Composer, music arranger and multi instrumentalist. Not in my Top 50 Hua Chenyu Performances, but try "Nunchucks" as a fun intro to SOME of his abilities. He's a chameleon in musical direction and appearance. Best performer I've ever sern. Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Prince, Steven Tyler, Matt Bellamy, George Michael wrapped up in one person.

“Je suis Malade” was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973.
This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …).
When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours.
The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes.
Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad.
But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s.
At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends.
Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations.

is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.

Je n’aime pas: l’arrangement à certains moments (l’accordeon au depart, bof, bof), certaines voix lorsqu’elle sont en solo, la note finale
Mais ils ont essayé de mettre du sentiment et n’ont pas trop versé dans la démonstration et les acrobaties vocales. J’avais peur de cela au départ mais non ils sont restés relativement dans l’histoire. Pas au niveau des meilleures interprétations de Lara ou Dalida toutefois.

It's a bit of a shame, Lara Fabian made this very touching song by Serge Lama into a vocal performance, and now, artists around the world are covering this song as a performance, but the song loses a lot of its emotion in these different versions. ..

The one I prefer is the second singer. However, I salute the prowess of these four artists to sing in French in this way. Although phonetically speaking, it must not be easy for them.
Latin languages for an Asian speaker and vice versa are always complicated to grasp at the level of pronunciation.
Nevertheless, for a Francophone, it's rather fun to listen to this version, especially feminized for Lara Fabian, sung by men.
Indeed, the text has been transposed from masculine (Serge Lama) to feminine (Dalida, Lara Fabian, among others) to correspond to the gender of the artist who interprets it. So they sing the female version.😋😊
On the other hand, they obscured the sometimes conversational side of the song, magnificently sublimated by Lara in her most famous live version.
To be sincere, I appreciate, above all, the vocal performance. But, much less the emotional, a little too overplayed, too spectacular for my taste (it, therefore, engages only me) of this version (it seems to me, by the reactions of the public, that this performance was recorded on the occasion of a television program akin to a singing competition, this may explain it).

Leur prononciation est approximative, ils vont d'exagération en exagération mal placées. Mais si les gens qui ne comprennent pas le français apprécient, c'est le principal. Il faut reconnaître que c'est très difficile de chanter dans une langue étrangère surtout quand on ne la parle même pas.
