1st, lol. Great catching up again with you and others. Simon the top man for inviting us. Thanks Joe for the great cooking partner and Sam for welding the eggs to the pan! Nice to see Tim, seen his in a few of your videos as well as his own. Elliot was a great chap as I’m sure Les is too!!! Glad the weather never dampened our spirits and the spirits helped raise the mood. ATB Ant 😉👍🏻
Thanks for the views of the interior of the farm house. The outdoor shots as well. Great to see people having fun despite much less than ideal weather.
I love seeing all of those historical and ancient sites over there in England. England is such an interesting country for sure. Thanks for taking us along Sandy. You are always presenting some very interesting looks at your surroundings. Take care my friend. Stay safe and continue to enjoy what nature has to offer.
I love the sign at the start. Really has character. Thats a serious outer door on that cottage, they really dont want those *hounds* getting inside in the middle of the night. The bleak weather....that is something I really like. I dont have a problems with good weather...but I do like to see places in all weather conditions. It makes you appreciate it all so much more. Also...its a great time to test *navigation skills* Especially in that featureless area. Excellent video Sandy.
Very well captured Sandy, especially the top of the tor, that was bleak even for me and I'm up there every weekend! Always a pleasure and never a chore to have you visit, hope you've warmed up :)
Thanks for the invite Si. The favour will be returned later this year for sure:) Nuns cross farm is a special place and made even more so by the good company. Everyone was fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I will have to return to that nice cafe in princetown one of these days so I can get another eyeful of that delicious ...grub! Sandy
What a grim looking place...that little stream on the walk looked lovely though...nice fresh looking water, with a perfect little campsite beside it. Really enjoyed the music in this cid too...Well done Sandy.
Great video Sandy, so much fun and laughter with a bit of walking thrown in too - so grateful to have been invited by Si and met such a fantastic group of guys.
Hey a great bunch of guys there Sandy. What a contrast though from inside to out. Ha - you guys were probably braver than the dogs. Funny that we put on some amazing parties at Baskerville Hall in the Wye Valley. Our circle then was like this one - full of good vibes and exhilarating moments. Interesting farm history. Fabulous! All the best. Mark
What a wondrous place, so much character and atmosphere. Great job gettign this on video in some pretty ordinary conditions. Looks like a good time was had by all.
Thanks for that, good to see the weather didn't stop you documenting a great weekend. I am just catching up after spending most of the week battling some major domestic IT problems. Atb, rich.
I’ve just finished watching this for the second time. I bring back memories I did some walking on Dartmore a few years ago , such s remote place. Loved it.
Lovely video Sandy, a great reminder of my training for Ten Tors and camping at Nuns cross many times. Walking from South Hessary down to Nuns Cross continuing to Higher Hartor and then back up to Black Tor is one I did on Ten Tors in 2013, chasing the evening cut off time :)
I remember the goons doing a radio show "Tales of old Dartmoor". Great video anyway bro. All the best from 99% humidity and 28c NZ, sweating like a pig just typing this. 4.15pm Monday.
Great to see you and the lads out on the "Moor" Sandy, I must admit I was taken aback on the name check and the lads greetings, plus Ant at the farewell clip, it was all much appreciated for sure :) Good wishes...........Les
I thought you would have left that black cloud behind! I saw him and i knew it was fate!!! LOL Looked like a great experience with a lot of faces i recognise.
Paul Bisseker Bushcraft - Hey, this is just February on Dartmoor! The weather just adds to the adventure. What fail’s to be missing on Sandy’s and the other chaps videos is the final 15 minute walk back to the car was in a snowy blizzard which stopped as soon as we got to the cars... Was kinda like Mother Nature giving us a final kick up the arse to get off the moors. I am beginning to believe in the ‘Jinx’ affect, Ta, Ant
Staying there looks like it would give you a feeling of how people lived in the 1800s. No electricity or running water. Candles and fire places, cast iron stoves and only you and friends to make amusements to keep from being bored. Wish I could have been there. Looks like a great time was had by all.
I associate Nuns Cross with being soaked to the skin but still love it there, that sense of openness that the wind and rain just adds to, it effects you and you keep coming back no matter how many pummellings you get from the weather!
Were you guys there on Friday night just gone? Only asking as I was heading out about 7.30pm on Friday and was surprised to see lights from there. We got soaked on Saturday.
That must have been a seriously tough place to earn a crust... I would imagine the owners/residents of the cottage would be praying for spring and summer... A few years bck, in 1999 i visited the site and thoughg about staying one day..... where do the haunted tales come from.. 👻
Hi there Wiltshire man, can I ask how feasible it is to go camping on the mire? And just how treacherous is it? It actually looks fine to me! Planning on doing a trip to Dartmoor. Thanks Wiltshire man
Apparently there are some deep bogs there but also there are a few paths criss crossing so if you follow those you should be fine. The mist can roll in and visibility can drop so just use common sense and you will be OK. If you hear the hounds you'll be doomed
Wiltshire Man Lol! Thanks Wiltshire man I appreciate that. Can I just bug you with a couple more questions if I may? The first is has anyone successfully crossed Fox Tor mire? And If so Would I be able to go with someone who knows the path? Lastly would I be able to stay at the cottage farm and where I can find out more info on prices availability etc. I will cook for everyone if that helps? Lol! Thanks again Wiltshire really enjoy your walks and info on the moor and mires! And I like hounds btw I’ll just cast a spell on them!
Your best bet is to contact Simon. He is the authority regarding Foxtor mire and Nuns cross farm. Here is a link to his channel: th-cam.com/channels/EFXbr2F0N9enOBocIuCCsw.html
That was epic mate, what a couple the Hoopers were, unbelievable really Sandy. So how does it work, you have to book in with National Trust or first come best dressed?. Is there a cost involved Sandy?. Grim weather but thats the Moor for you mate. I remember it well. Keep them coming mate. ATB Moose.
1st, lol.

Great to have met you Ant - thanks for bringing the weather with you! Hope your wellies dry out some time soon.
Thanks Sandy for sharing some of the history of our beautiful homeland!
Thanks for the views of the interior of the farm house. The outdoor shots as well. Great to see people having fun despite much less than ideal weather.

A truly magical video, Sandy. The weather and general atmosphere of Dartmoor shown here at its best in Hound of the Baskerville mood. Take care...

Boys will be boys..... Cracking video, Sandy 👍
Interesting looking place, you got reasonably lucky with the weather too, just leaving as the snow started to flutter down.
Thanks for that, good to see the weather didn't stop you documenting a great weekend. I am just catching up after spending most of the week battling some major domestic IT problems. Atb, rich.
An exhilarating time had by all, recorded superbly in testing conditions. What a place the moor is :)
Great little cottage. We have many here that were old cattle men huts. Great camping.
Where is here Harold?. Out of interest. Cheers Moose.

Thank you Sandy for a great video....take care
Thanks for that Sandy... made my evening better ! ;-)
Loved that Sandy, a nice account of fabulous weekend in the company of 'an edit' of You Tubers.
It was a lot of fun being part of this "Edit". Can't wait for the next one. I thought your dance at the stone cross and your good bye was hilarious:)
I think the proper collective noun for TH-camrs ought to be 'an upload'.
Thanks for another great video nice to see you get out in all weathers.
How do i go about buying one of your knives ?
Cracking that mate mate, looked a excellent time.
ATB, James.
Stick to the path stay off the Moor!!!!!!!. Nice one mi friend always interesting. ATB

4:48 - Now that is a rag-tag looking patrol. LOL!
I was delighted to see Chris Ryan finally made it back from Syria!. lol.
You can see how Conan Doyle was influenced by this spot. Very bleak, loved the Sherlock Holmes books as a kid. Great video Sandy. ATB.

I thought you would have left that black cloud behind! I saw him and i knew it was fate!!! LOL Looked like a great experience with a lot of faces i recognise.

LOL i'm sure you all enjoyed the time you spent there even with the weather. If you still have a cloud following you in August i believe the Jinx!
He is the Jinx Paul. Trust me!
Another lovely video Sandy. Keep ‘em coming !!! ATB Andy

Thanks for sharing Sandy, was a trifle wild but then it's Dartmoor.

I associate Nuns Cross with being soaked to the skin but still love it there, that sense of openness that the wind and rain just adds to, it effects you and you keep coming back no matter how many pummellings you get from the weather!
Liked the realism in this video. Not always nice weather when hiking.
Loved that, cheers Sandy.

Were you guys there on Friday night just gone? Only asking as I was heading out about 7.30pm on Friday and was surprised to see lights from there. We got soaked on Saturday.
Yes. We were there.

Glad you were able to join us at Nuns cross Gary and also that you had a good sleep in the haunted bedroom:) which you haunted
Good job sandy

I can just imagine the bloody life they had mate. Mind boggles hey, and we complain when the sodding train in two minutes late. lol. ATB Moose.
I had lived for some time in Wiltshire, but unfortunately I never went accross the Grimpon Mire. Never set a Mire on Fire!
Hi there Wiltshire man, can I ask how feasible it is to go camping on the mire? And just how treacherous is it? It actually looks fine to me!

Is there a cost involved Sandy?. Grim weather but thats the Moor for you mate. I remember it well. Keep them coming mate. ATB Moose.
Hi Moose,
Yes there is a cost which Simon paid. Nuns cross is ran by a local college I believe.
Ok Sandy, well worth the fee i bet. Long may she stand. Cheers Moose
You need good footwear to traverse that soggy Dartmoor! A round of Scotch Whiskey to recover from the damp cold!
That sounds like a very sensible plan Robert. lol. Count me in. Cheers Moose.
I wonder if the ghost was pissed off with so many staying there ?
Some say, Sandy "is" the ghost.....
Great video. Should have used a GoPro in a water housing.
Your right there Tom, but also those housing can fog up and spoil your audio.
Dartmoor looked a bit grim not long till spring
True Poet Alan. lol. Cheers Moose.
A gathering of all the Usual Suspects. 👍
Dartmoors not bleak or grim, it's just a bit damp and windy now and then, good trip out then Sandy 👌🏻atb mate 👍🏻🇬🇧
