    From infancy to adulthood, children grow quite a bit both physically and mentally. In this video I'll explore the remarkable processes behind one of the most important developments in a child's life--learning language.

    All those babies that learn language with zero effort, and here we are struggling with French grammar.

      @Pharoah M French is the easiest language for an english speaker meanwhile learning Japanese is the hardest language for an english speak to learn taking up to 5 years while french can take up to 6 months or a year

      @Pharoah M I'm Arab 😅but I'm lebanese so lebanese Arab accent is way different because we speak mix of lebanese and French, but I forgot French an so hate it now

      I know three languages, learned them all before 5. Am I not f**ked trying to learn Korean? I can read most of it, but I don't know what it means. I suppose I could not half-ass it though, but I don't recall this problem when I was a child.

    I grew up in a household where two different languages were spoken. English and Pulaar. Although, living in America, it's obvious that the former caught on more.
    Funny thing is I can understand Puular near perfectly but I can't speak it.

      Generally speaking, language comprehension comes before language production--this looks to be a great example of that! Thanks for sharing :)

    First a baby born to listen to the parents and the people around. A baby tried to listen a whole year. Then he can remember what the people said and start to speak for a very short simple word. Then he tried to speak a long sentence. Sometimes his sentence made us laugh. This is the most genius from God's work.

    Very good video, but do you know more about the details of why a higher pitch helps?

    • @QHat
      @QHat  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The primary reason I've read about is that it captures children's attention better than lower pitch speech does, much like children are attracted to, say, bright, flashy colors. So children are more like to listen to (and thus learn from) speech that is high in pitch!
