Viking Grand European River Cruise - Budapest to Amsterdam!

- This is Steve and Janet's video of the Grand European Tour / River Cruise on the Viking Ve Longship in November 2019. This video includes all 16 days - including two days in Amsterdam after we got off the Viking Ve.
We traveled with our friends Ken and Lynn and made a lot of new friends along the way (you know who you are!).
The Viking staff and crew were great. The Program Director David Parker added a lot to the experience. He was polite, professional and very funny!
We visited the following ports:
Hungary: Budapest;
Austria: Vienna, Melk and Salzburg;
Germany: Passau, Regensburg, Nuremberg, Bamberg, Würzburg, Wertheim, Koblenz and Cologne; and
Netherlands: Kinderdijk and Amsterdam
We also walked across the bridge to Komarno, Slovakia when the Viking Ve was docked in Komarom, Hungary, adding a fifth country to this trip!

Just watched your video, Steve. Very nice job. The mapping was interesting to show the route to the next destination. Loved the titles & descriptions on buildings & places. Everything was done very well, inspiring us to take this cruise.

Some were included and some were optional. I really don't remember which were which at this point. In my more recent cruise videos I make it a point to mention if the tour was optional.

Thank you, Jevon! Well, you can see us wearing coats and jackets in the video. There were cold days, but I don't remember it being too bad. Just remember to layer so if you're too warm you can take a layer off. I hope your Grand European River Cruise is as great as ours was!
We just got back from this trip and it was WONDERFUL! Viking did a FANTASTIC job; well worth the $$ spent. We were on the Viking Vidar June 2023. I'm not sure how old the boat/ship is but it looked brand new. We hit great weather with temperatures in the low to mid 20C (72F-85F). The entire vacation was a fabulous experience-perfect really.

Hi, Kathryn (that's my daughter's name!). I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The cameras were nothing special. I captured most of the content with an iPhone 11 Pro. We also got content from my wife (iPhone XS and an old Nikon D5300 DSLR) and our friend's Canon EOS Rebel. My wife just bought a Nikon Z6 II full frame, mirrorless camera, so future videos should be even better!

Thank you. Your pictures were great. We have an iPhone 13pro. We were thinking of not taking our Nikon, as we didn’t want something else around our neck. Getting closer to our cruise now, yeah
@@kathrynmcmeekin9931 My wife and I both have iPhone 13 Pros right now. They do a great job - except for zooming and low light conditions. We just got back from our first Viking OCEAN cruise. It was the South America and Chilean Fjords cruise. My wife took her Nikon mostly for nature shots like when we were visiting penguin colonies in the Falkland Islands (a place called Volunteer Point).
You might want to take your Nikon and only take it on the excursions where it will do a much better job than an iPhone. By the way, I'm working on the South American videos now. No sound after 2 seconds???
Were there any wheelchair passengers on this cruise?
We have been on two Viking River Cruises and one Viking Ocean Cruise (so far). I do remember seeing at least one passenger in a wheelchair. That person still got to enjoy many of the excursions, as a Viking crew member accompanied him during the excursions.

I think the problem is on your end. I can hear the sound when I play it. Also, 2,400 people have viewed the video and no one else has mentioned a problem with the sound.
