It would be a good start because I could start my enchanter and cleric in the same city. I guess it all depends on if my zero hour livestream and log both toons on at the same time.
The dwarf is a good on too! You'll be close to Greater Faydark and close enough to use the translocator to get over freeport, so lots of choices for you! You shoudl try the new TLP server. Usually, it only happens once a year so it's like the superbowl of Everquest. The day 1 start is something so special that I usually do a "Zero Hour" livestream to capture it. I mained a dwarf cleric on Mangler through Velious. The strength was by far the most useful, especially for heavy bronze armor drops. When we started raiding Hate, the planar armor helped get me to max wisdom. Biggest regret for me was choosing HE over DE for my enchanter. Hide man.
I have Erudite cleric on p99 Green, and it's been a ton of fun! I went evil, but I waited until after Paineel dropped, so that made things easier. That being said, when Oakwynd goes live, I'm totally going DE Cleric as one of my mains. Also, maxing my STR on DE. I think that's 85 str, and 98 WIS to start. I just like having higher STR when I'm starting it makes my early game much easier, and later on you'll be able to increase your other stats pretty easily. Prob not the norm, but I love making things easier at the start. (Although, I've only played on live in 99-02, and p99 green. So maybe having more STR at the start isn't worth it if leveling is that fast now.)
Great video, I'm an avid cleric player. Since 99 across various servers and EMUs I've leveled up about 8 clerics and every single one of them I make dark elf ;p I just love the character model lol. With the old models I go between two faces (the purple eyed "oh" face, as it was the face of my very first cleric and the red eyed face because who doesn't love a red eyed drow) but in the new models I always pick the same face and the same hair, lol. I enjoy your videos and would love to see more "guide" type videos from you.

This Cleric series is up to #4 at the moment. I plan to release the other episodes after they stay in the members only section for at least a week. Episodes 3 and 4 will show group play with the Cleric instead of solo or molo play, so I think it's going to be fun and interesting!
@@doctornachoz8099 When I make them I actually don't take the pre-set stats. I will remove points from wisdom and add them into strength so it's at 75. I do that with any class I play that doesn't start with 75 str though. Looking forward to new vids, I'm in Canada and our dollar has tanked so hard that my EQ subs are like $25 per account if it wasn't that bad I'd totally sub to you
With the High Elf, take the 5 points out of STA and drop it into STR, if you are worried about low STR. The extra points will help if someone comes by and gives you some plate armor.
Good video, I like your input and reasoning behind picks. I've never gone cleric for long. Nothing against them, in just pulled towards Shaman above all and arcane second. Hope you do more of these vids.
Well said! I like the Shaman class a lot too. When paired with a monk they make a lethal team! In classic the Shamans can handle the heals most of the time and they get those crazy dots + slow + buffs + decent heals! I have more guides waiting to be released and new ones in the works.
That's the plan! This cleric series is up to episode #4 (level 12) and will keep going. I want to do other classes like the Wizard, Enchanter, Shaman, and maybe the Necromancer. A lot depends on the amount of spare time I have. For the other classes I want show group play from the perspective of the class I'm doing so that viewers can learn how to play the class in a group setting. I think this will help them a lot and be fun to make (like cleric tlp guide #3 and #4)
Trading 25 sta and 25 str for 12 wisdom is a huge mistake. You'll be encumbered just wearing your gear for starters. Clerics also get beat on a lot, and the lack of hit points is also going to get you killed. 120 mana difference at level 50 isn't enough to even cast a single heal. Dwarf is the best classic cleric by a huge margin.
I know the Dwarf has better Sta and Str, but how many more hit points is that going to give you at level 50? I've always made the High elf cleric and by level 50 the weight was never a problem, especially when you get your planar armor. On a fresh server the first clerics to level 50 aren't going to have a lot of gear to choose from. There's a reason why most of the high level clerics are high elf...
Halflings no longer get a xp bonus, it was taken out in the Feb 20, 2019 patch, look at the last line in the misc category. forums.daybreakgames.com/eq/index.php?threads/game-update-notes-february-20-2019.254794/ The best cleric is between HiE and Dwarf, Dwarf has the second highest wis, but has the str for plate armor, HIE have the wisdom for sure and they look good in plate, but 55 starting strength is terrible for wearing plate armor. Dwarf is easily, hands down the best Cleric in game. Wisdom in classic is easy to max as well.
I never had a problem with the HiE strength. I agree that the Dwarf is the ugliest (especially the females with beard) and is a better cleric with higher melee DPS.
The answer always is go to Halas. If you pair up with the shaman players you level quickly.
halflings get sneak and hide that is pretty powerful for a class that cant invis.

I like my dark elf cleric, snare necklace is great, and yes i play on live servers.
Yeah went Innoruuk Human for this but with the added benefit of being non kos pretty much everywhere.

HP, STR, WIS can all be corrected with gear…The best race for any class is the dwarf because of the old tuck and roll animation.
Innoruuk human clerics are pretty much none KoS to everyone which is the main reason I made one. Plus the access to Innoruuk snare necklace.
