But he was the one who chose to run, so he ultimately made his situation way worse. Everyone else probably just ate the ticket. Underage alcohol consumption and possession on your record isn't going to ruin lives, it's literally just you being a stupid kid.

When I was growing up, if you drank and were underage, they would just take your beer. No tickets, no arrests. Nothing. And it's still like that here to this day.
Here in germany they just inform your parents and let them take you home or take you home themselfes. If it happens multiple times in a short timespan they inform the child support (Jugendamt) and you get a ticket if you are older than 14.
But you can legally drink beer with 16 here anyway so it isn't really a problem.
In my country don't really care about underage drinking, legal age is 18, but you could see 15-16 year olds drinking beer on the streets, not necessarily alcoholics. But if is a case of alcoholism or against the child's will, authorities get involved.

By enforcing this on one kid it will discourage others and force them to think twice before drinking on campus. Although only one is punished, many more will try to stay away from underaged drinking due to realizing that it can and will be enforced on the campus.

It depends on the situation, so please don't sit there and try to make officers look like shit because they are enforcing the law. But he was legally an adult, he knew what he was doing was illegal and he chose to commit all those other offences rather than just take the citation for the alcohol.

The last thing the officer said in the video was "Take him to the command post, I'm going to sig bond him" meaning he won't actually go to jail (or off campus) and be released on his own recognizance without having to pay bail. So in reality the cops were pretty cool about it, but they did want to make an example.
It's the university of Minnesota. The cops ride around on bikes randomly stopping anyone walking with beer who looks underage. They really do only give you a ticket and then u walk away. The kid was an idiot. Could have given his real name, lost 2 beers and left with a ticket.

The resist/obstruct officer causing injury charge is a class H felony in Wisconsin, with a potential penalty of a $10,000 fine and 6 years in prison. Jevin fucked himself good.
ACTUALLY bruh you need to read up on this dude and what they did to him. The bike cop claimed he suffered injuries when he tackled Jevin when he ran those 4 or 5 steps. So in addition to disorderly conduct and resisting arrest for which he DID have to pay bail, they also charged him with resisting causing officer injury and on THAT they actually held him on a no bond until he saw the judge! I saw his mugshot. He didn't look like a happy little camper in his orange jumpshirt, that's for sure!

I got 4 or 5 underage citations when I was younger. Never once got put into handcuffs or taken into custody. In my experiences, if you're honest with them, they'll be cool and give you a ticket and send you on your way. I've even had cops just tell me to go home without giving me a ticket. No cop (or anyone) wants to deal with drunk teenagers/college kids.
Of course. Its all about revenue and money for the town anyway. That's why they stake out these big party events in college towns. To give out as many tickets as possible to make money for the town. Its not like they're driving drunk or causing disturbances. They're all just having a good time.
yeah, if you cooperate with them they will cooperate with you. because you being easier to work with just make them less stressed and it will just help the situation overall
