Love cooking things in cast iron like that. Fun that you did it over the coals like that. The chicken looks crisp and all the veggies look delicious. Cute seeing the kids driving in the car and playing. Thanks for sharing Jen snd Brian. The adult beverage is a bonus!
Hello, this looks delicious!!! And thanks for the great old fiddle tune! St. Anne’s Reel has been a favourite of mine for decades. My Dad was an old time fiddler and he played St Anne’s Reel and i accompanied him chording on the piano. Great food and great music! 😊
Well now that is some good looking chicken there for sure. Can you send out samples? lol. Thanks for the share my friends. This looks really good. I like that little tractor as well. Thanks for sharing the video.
Great video and the chicken looks good thanks for sharing but we got our own Dutch oven and need to use it more. And Jen I’m You sounds like you had some as well 🤣🤣😂🤣😅🤣🤣 but anyway have fun and stay safe
hmm.. if I were to cook it in a standard oven in a Dutch oven pan, I would cook it with the oven set to 300 Fahrenheit. It will most likely take about 1-1/2 hours to cook. After 1-1/2 hours, I would check the dark meat first to make sure it is at least 170 Fahrenheit. It would be pretty much the same process, just and in your home oven. To add a browning on the top, to mimic the charcoals on top of the Dutch oven you could turn the broiler on for the last 5 to 10 minutes. Let me know how it turns out!!
So, watchin your vid and i realize what you have there is a very old, antique Guardian dutch oven. Pure hammered aluminum. It's an heirloom, guard it with your life.

Does cooking it in the fire/coals like that change the taste compared to an oven?
Or is it just one of those more fun things to do? 😋
Not really, sometimes you can get a little smoke taste, but it's mostly just fun.

can a 5 quart dutch/camp oven hold a whole chicken with veggies?
I would like to make this in the oven.
What temperature and for how long would be appropriate ?

So it took one hour to cook?
What size is your dutch oven? I checked the links below and there is two link for dutch oven whit different size
The one we used I this video was the lodge deep. I believe it is 10 quarts.
@@HaleyFamily 14 inch deep
It would be nice to know what size is the oven and weight of the chicken.
10 quart and the chicken was 6 lbs
