Every bit of the story of Jesus’s torture and beating and crucifixion did happen. That should mean something to you whether or not you believe in the higher power, or the spiritual significance of all of it. This has exponential significance in general because this man really did endure all of that for YOU.

You should come back to Spain for the "Semana Santa" (Holy Week), you would like it a lot. Everybody goes to Andalucia but I recommend you to come to Zaragoza.
