    Thanks to respected S.K.SOM sir for heat transfer lectures. I have learnt so many things from your lecture.Excellent explanation about heat conduction concept.
    Sir for conduction the main condition is that molecules doesnot change their respective positions.and this conduction accur because of their latice vibrations.but i have a query about conduction in fluid medium if all fluid particle in fix position. Sir is it possible if possible then explain conduction in fluid and gas medium with example

    • @conductionandconvectionhea6729
      @conductionandconvectionhea6729  8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +JAIMIN PATEL Conduction heat transfer takes place from the particles having more thermal energy to the adjasent particles having less thermal energy due to the INTERACTIONS among the particles.
      In solids, this INTERACTIONS are lattice vibration and the motion of free electrons.
      For fluids (liquids and gases), this INTERACTIONS are collisions and diffusion of the molecules. Note that at the molecular level all the molecules are undergoing a random motion (randomness is more for gases). However, this random motion produces no net transport of fluid across a macroscopic surface. This can be explained in the following way. If N number of molecules move from LEFT to RIGHT then there must be N number of molecules which are moving from RIGHT to LEFT to remain the fluid STATIONARY macroscopic ally. So in this process there is no bulk movement of the fluid. But if the molecules which are moving from LEFT to RIGHT are having high kinetic energy and the molecules which are moving from RIGHT to LEFT are having low kinetic energy, then the net transfer of thermal energy takes place from the LEFT to the RIGHT.

      +NOC16 ME06 Jan-May When a fluid is at stationary condition, the molecules of the fluid may not be in stationary condition. Stationary fluid defines the fact that the bulk fluid velocity U=0. The fluid molecules always move randomly with velocity say Um. Now if we take a small volume V (smallness is dictated by the continuum hypothesis) and determine the volume average of Um then we get U = (1/V)*integration of Um over the volume V. If the fluid is in stationary condition then we obtain U=0. This does not necessarily mean Um=0.

    • @jmn.p2101
      @jmn.p2101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes sir. I have got point. Thanks for clearing my concept.
      Now sir one more question that Is viscosity a property of fluid play a role in this conduction heat transfer process?

    • @conductionandconvectionhea6729
      @conductionandconvectionhea6729  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +JAIMIN PATEL Effect of viscosity only comes during transfer of momentum and viscous dissipation. So if the fluid is in static condition, viscosity has no effect on heat transfer (or conduction).

    sir I have a problem?as you said that in steady state, internal heat generation doesn't occur but in farther lecture you said heat generation is a function of space coordinate but not time when you deriving steady one -D heat conduction eq. now I am in little bit of confusion that what actually does the mean of steady state heat conduction? as far as I know about it ,is that heat generation(Qg) is constant w.r.t. time but what about with space coordinate? is it also constant w.r.t. space coordinate(along-x,y and z)? if internal heat generation varies in space coordinate then sir please tell why?.becoz you said that "for steady state heat condition through any body whatever the heat coming in the same will going out" and it can be possible only in one case when there is no generation.I mean of course it is invariant with but it can be possible that it could be function of space coordinate.my main question is that steady state means absolutely no heat generation or not??

    • @NAYAN-t3e
      @NAYAN-t3e 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Occurrence of being steady or unsteady state Heat transfer is completely dependent upon whether its (internal energy in the form of average kinetic energy of molecules at microscopic level) storage with respect to time or not. If it stores energy I.e. (rho*Cp*T) in instants of time then its temperature at any instant will change so it becomes transient irrespective whether source or sink term presents in it or not or even it varies with space or time doesn't matter.
