Hello everyone! At 3:30 we make an error in the narration. We *should* say: "Because they're less dense, these particles rise above the colder, MORE DENSE particles above them." As an aside, we'd really love to hear any constructive feedback you may have for this video (and the others!). We spend a lot of time trying to guess what people will find clear/helpful to understand, and which bits are harder to grasp from the videos - we're bound to get it wrong from time to time, and it would really help us to hear which bits work well for you, and which bits work less well :) Many thanks, and wishing you all good luck!
you explained this 10 times better than my cgp textbook did after two hours of reading it and still barely understanding anything. thankyou so much your gcse series courses are very helpfull. they are so well explained and easy to understand
I'm doing some last minute revision before my physics paper 2 tomorrow, and I just wanted to say a huge thank you! I honestly cannot thank you enough for all of your help. I discovered your channel about a year ago, when I was really struggling with physics- my teacher wasn't the best, and I was stuck on 6s and 7s. When I started watching these videos, I genuinely felt like something clicked in my mind, you explain things in such a logical way, and I love the interactive animations! Before long, I was getting solid 9s in my mocks, and I can safely say that it is down to you. You have made so many difficult concepts make sense, and have alleviated all of my worries for science. Thank you so much Cognito, I hope you realise how much positive impact you have! You have transformed me, and so many other peoples' learning, and made it such a fun and enjoyable experience.
i never quite preferred learning online, but exams are near and somehow i need to ace it and ngl found a perfect youtuber for it 😅✌🏻✨ (p.s. its so wonderful learning all those awful chapters for hours into just a few minutes video)

Hi, i have a question in this part, you 5:20 where you give an example for infrared waves, you say its because the of the infrared waves that cause your hand to feel warm, but isant it because of the air around it? I mean because the coal and metal heats the air?
Both explanations are correct, as both infrared radiation and convective heat contribute to the sensation of heat when you place your hand over a BBQ. The flames of the BBQ produce both types of heat: Convective Heat: This is the heat transferred through the movement of hot air. When the flames heat up the air around them, the hot air rises and comes into contact with your hand, making it feel hot. Infrared Radiation: The BBQ emits infrared radiation, which is a form of electromagnetic radiation that transfers heat energy. When this radiation comes into contact with your hand, it adds to the overall sensation of heat. So, it's a combination of both factors that make it hot when you place your hand over a BBQ.
So in summary: Conduction - Particles stay at same point. It happens in Solids. (Vibrates to transfer heat energy) Convection - Particles move and transfer heat energy - It happens in fluids(liquids and gases) Radiation - No matter at all.
Your video is awesome.I studied this topic from three teachers but I didn't understand it, you made it so easy to learn and understand . However also discuss Thermal conductivity depends on: Cross sectional area Leanght of solid Temperature differences between ends ,Also discuss convection current in land and sea breeze and gliding
