Hi Ghib. Its nice to know how your Singaporean wife and in-laws found acceptance with you, as a Japanese. What about the reverse? How was your family's experience accepting a Singaporean as your spouse?
Ghib. Your wife is a keeper. The moment she said : “I don’t believe in spending thousands on branded stuff. But I believe in spending on good food!” 👍🏻WOW!👍🏻 Her parents have brought her up well.
As a singaporean married to a korean, I feel JP and KR cultures are almost quite similar, haha. Me & my hub also often speak about our different cultures. Kr also have their own instant rice so your rice reminds me of that. Thanks for sharing yr video!
@@Bagellatte The most crucial similarity is indeed that both of them buy fancy sofa and never sit and eat on the sofa. They only use the sofa as a back support!
do a video where Your Wife cooks a Japanese dish and You cook a Singapore Dish and then both of you rate each other dish for authenticity would be like a cook off
such a wholesome vid!! love it. As for insects, I think many guys are scared too... We manage to temporarily overcome fear in NS but it returns to us when we become "civilised" again after leaving the military. It's like a psychological thing. Alsoo the food looks great!
Someone in US did a study before where they asked ladies what are the things that woman find attractive in men and that they are more likely to give their mobile number to the men on their first meeting. The women picked : good sense of humour, able to cook and knows how to play musical instruments . Looks like Ghib got all 3.
Are you able to cite that study? I've only read about sense of humour, height and wealth being the most important factors. Besides, asking for someone's phone number takes less than a minute. Not sure how it's possible to cramp so much information within that short span of time.
Studies where they ask people what they would do are grossly inaccurate. People often say they will do one thing but in practice, they do something else.
Thoroughly enjoyed this fun yet insightful conversation btwn u n ur lovely wife! It’s true tt it takes all kinds to make e whole world, incl sg. Sg is one of e most cosmopolitan cities in e world & our varied cuisine n cross-cultural marriages show it. Materialistic pple r everywhere, not just concentrated in a particular country. There r nice, wonderful & humble pple in sg too. U just need to know where to find them & get to know them! Looking fwd to more hb-wife interaction vids! 👍💪👩❤️👨
You are not alone. I am scared of cockroaches and I had gone through NS. I have insect netting to prevent them and other pests like lizards to enter my home.
When I first watch Ghib SAN’s on screen, he looks like a very cheerful and friendly young man, and spoke only Japanese, I was shocked when I realised his English is this ‘powerful’ on his subsequent video clips.
I have colleague(s) who are Japanese, I feel abit out of place sometimes like I am talking too loudly. So yeah, I get what the Mrs is saying like they are very formal with people. Btw I love this video, it's really cute!!
The wet hair thing... It literally takes me an hour even at a salon with 2 people to blow dry my hair so honestly i don't have the time to do it every morning after I've showered. Imagine trying to blow dry it myself with a regular hair dryer -
I love your videos. You give very interesting insights and perspectives of our culture and psyche (as well as your own, of course). I am becoming a huge fan of your wife. Hahaha. She seems to have similar views as me, and is as equally forthright about them. I do agree we tend to have a negative rep in worldwide media. Do you have any of your opinions as to why that is the case?
As a Singaporean man who has been to army, I'm the first to flee if I see a cockroach. NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. I'm not wearing boots at home. I can't stomp on them.
A few of my husband's friends, when they discussed about buying private condo, quite a few of them thought of their children, as they were worried about the inflated property prices later.
It looks nice. Doesnt rlly taste that good though. Theres this skin outside, which makes it not that nice and gives it the brown colour. Its basically less processed rice
I was actually one person who leave my house with freshly washed wet hair. 1 reason being that hair dry naturally seems smoother compared to blow dry (at home; salon different la) I don't do that these days as I washed my hair the night before 😁 Nice video. Your wifey is great too.
It's hard not to think about money when many essential things are expensive, like housing, and housing... And perhaps housing. Once you go over that hurdle, then everything is pretty alright. Oh, and finding a partner to get housing, since you can get better mortgage deals when finding a partner.
Ghib San, I also have a sensitive question to ask you: Why did you choose a Singaporean (foreign) girl to be your wife, instead of a Japanese? Must answer this ok?
There's this temple featured in the video At 9:15 , where is that place located at? Which other videos of ghib ojisan does it appear in also I'm very curious!
I loved Japanese food especially its tidbits. Not only they taste good but the packaging are top notched. That's why u bother to wrapped the presents so nicely. It's in-grained in your culture.
Ha freedom to feel uneasy 😂 I once saw a foreigner couple in Tokyo when the lady was putting on manicure on her nails, and the guy was holding the manicure for her. Definitely the first time to see it!! Would love to see some cooking vlogs again!
Have you and your wife had arguments before? Trust you do, but do you both make it a point to talk and compromise before sleeping or both of you prefers to give each other some personal time before talking about it again?
Yep, especially when you eat out in restaurants in Singapore u need to get ready to pay extra minimum 17% tax….10% service charge plus 7%(GST-goods and service tax)🤣🤣🤣👍💪
I have to say , one thing I don’t like about Singapore is the peer pressure to contribute money for obligatory stuff like colleagues’ birthdays, their grandparents’ funeral etc even though you don’t feel like you know the colleague well. In Australia, it’s more casual, you can contribute any amount if you want to or just write a simple card etc. I also have to say my first impression of Japanese men is that they are very chauvinistic and expect the women to serve and bring their slippers when they come home from work. And Japanese men comes home from work only when its really late
That is entirely dependant on your work environment's culture. It certainly does not happen in my work place. We discretely pass an unmarked envelop around, so no one will know how much others contributed, if at all.
I don't know any japanese guy who don't expect to be served by their wives or even girlfriends. Frankly I get the feeling they intentionally avoid going home and even bothering to develop a deeper relationship with their partners after marriage. I see you cooking for your wife. You are quite different in that sense and appear to have a good relationship with your in laws.

Ghib, is it true that in Japan, when you apply to companies for jobs, you have to handwrite all your resume and not print them? I saw on tik tok.
I used to do that! It's to show that you are spending a lot of time and effort for the company and you are serious about the role.

@@GhibOjisan So I guess there's a whole industry based around this where people pay for others (with neat handwriting) to write it for them?
