📖 Our Story:
We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.
Follow our journey as we turn this old stone house into a beautiful home 😊.

You might consider adding a finish to the door to protect it from the bathroom steam. A mixture of linseed oil and beeswax is one common finish that would fit in with your other materials. I enjoy your show -- I hope you cintinue it!

The house is magnificent. Such a perfect mix of traditional and modern. The kitchen is perfect. Enjoy the culmination of work and design and attention to detail.

Door hinge manufacturers all have recommended sizes of hinges and the number of hinges that should be installed given the weight of the door. Your door appears to be about a 2 meter door and is solid wood. For a solid wood door (meaning not hollow core), I'd expect at least 3 hinges, if not four. I've found the doors are a lot more trouble-free with hinges per the manufacturer's recommendations.
To avoid squeaky hinges, a good ball-bearing hinge is a plus. Otherwise, you can oil or grease the hinge pins.
Also, the door undercut should anticipate the need for ventilation air flow (e.g., to facilitate the bathroom fan, if you have one), and whether you might need clearance for a throw rug.

I hope your moving in doesn't mean that the project is over soon. In that case, you will have to find a new project for us. Many reno sites I watch are exciting in the construction phase but disappoint me when it comes to the decorating phase. Not yours! I LOVE everything. I WANT those kitchen chairs. Also, I love the brand WMF, their appliances are always chic. And may I say, bravo for the near impossible feat of matching the door frame with the beautiful old door - love that you introduced some vintage pieces to give patina to your renovation. Lastly, thanks for the tuto on how to make a door frame for the reclaimed door. I have been toying with the idea of doing them myself rather than having them made by our joiner - every little helps, budget-wise. Your video made it seem possible :-). I watched the video twice to spot all the little details. Thank you!!!

At least we are leaving the apartment we are renting to save some money, and we are already on site if we want to keep going!

We bought the yellow chairs for only 50€ (the 4 chairs) - second hand from a private. We believe strongly in re-use objects as much as we can.

Suggestion for couples (17:09): Do not place non-stick pans on top of each other, as the metal bottom of one will scratch and damage the non-stick treatment of the other. When washing the non-stick, only use a very soft sponge. Che Dio benedica e protegga te e la tua nuova casa. Essere in pace.

How exciting! I think the bathroom door is perfect. I wonder if you were so relieved to sleep in your new home that you slept like a log or so exhausted and excited that you were not able to sleep at all. Putting all your kitchen things in their new place is a touch which says "We're home". As you said, it will take a while before, when you think of home, the farm house is what comes to mind. You have both done so much work that I hope you will take it a little slower and enjoy the finishing touches to the inside of your home and enjoy the time working on the outside. Your vista is amazing so I imagine working outside will be a pleasure - your pup seems to be enjoying it already!
