Lots of sad people out there who find joy at putting others down. Jealous of your lovely personality, good looks and super talented abilities. Keep smiling that would really p them off 😉 🖒
Lovely Word why be on and watch this channel if you act like she is the anti christ? This channel is so informative, interesting and gives some great ideas,,, if you don’t like it then don’t waste you energy here and work on been more positive and spreading happiness 🤓😊😀🤗
I absolutely loved this and totally agree on every level. What bothers me is people/companies who claim their products are all “natural” or “organic” when they are far from it. I cringe when I see a friend say they bought organic shampoo at the grocery store and I show them it’s not and they freak out. I explain to them that’s it’s ok to use these products and they probably are better for us than others but they aren’t 100% organic.
Yes! The term "natural" drives me bonkers more and more every day-it has so many different meanings to different people and is often used as shortcut to decide if something is safe without knowing much of anything about what is actually in the product. Bonkers, I tell you! 😝
I've gone all natural which has helped my skin immensely since my skin got itchy and dry from long term steroid use that I'm still on. I have found that I don't need to lather up to get clean. I also make my own balms, serums and lip balms, so I know what goes into them. My sister also uses my products and she's always getting comments on how lovely her skin is. We are both in our 60s. I also make my own macerated oils using dried botanicals and carrier oils. Apart from my 95 proof grape alcohol which I use to extract all the goodness from my botanicals there is no water in any of my formulations. I do use vitamin e and skin appropriate essential oils and absolutes. Thanks so much for your informative videos I really enjoy them.
One word about your rude and offensive trolls. JELOUS!! Keep being you. I love your channel, so happy I found it. You are amazing, and people cant handle that! Unfortunately for your trolls you “have it all” and your enthusiasm, knowledge and integrity are solid. They suck!
I personally no longer even try to make sunscreen. The lotion that I made that everyone swore up and down was at least SPF 12, was actually less than 2 when I had the chance to have it properly tested. No skin cancer for me please!
@@HumblebeeAndMe I worked at a pharmaceutical company at the time, and the lady I worked with was wanting me to make her some. It was based on raspberry seed oil and carrot seed oil. I think the 'official' results were about 1-2 SPF, or about the same as any random lotion.
@@HumblebeeAndMe my new philosophy is: if I mess this recipe up, what's the worst that can happen? If I wouldn't want the 'worst case scenario' to happen to one of my children, I'll leave that DIY to the people who actually know what they're doing. :)
Hi, I have found an incredible sunscreen lotion for the face that I absolutely love! It's by Australian Gold. It's a botanical sunscreen for the face and it's slightly tinted and has a broad spectrum of 50. It's a non-greasy mineral lotion and it just glides over the skin and it makes a great base lotion before putting on your makeup. I got it from Amazon.
I am happy to have your channel as an inspiration. I'm a 'homemade' type person. I like making things not really to save money but just that I can. And HAPPY 7 YRS. I hope you have the best year and years to come, if this makes sense. Can you show us your fur baby we haven't seen her? In a while. Thanks.👩🔬
Thank you so much! I snagged her for a bit of my last Q&A video, and I've finally started updating her instagram account again as well 🙂 instagram.com/lottiebot/
Here is a compliment for you. As crazy as this may sound, I used to listen go you at night prior to going to bed. You were so inspiring, I got my formulating certification. Yes, same school. I sell products at my local market. So thank you for inspiring me. :)
Hey don’t let the haters bring you down. Your a young smart woman who knows what direction she is going. Many people don’t. Your growing & your doing it on TH-cam. Many won’t expose themselves like your doing. They are afraid. I enjoy your videos & have learned from watching you. Anyway just keep doing what your doing. Good luck, your friend Carlos
I’ve been reading your blog and watching your videos for a few days, and you definitely already saved me from making huuge mistakes (e.g. that thing about vitamin E or rosemary not being actual preservatives). There’re so much misinformation about diy cosmetics, and for a beginner it’s often hard to tell what’s what, and I love that you encourage thorough research. Thanks a lot🌱🌱🌱
Humblebee and Me became a full-time gig, hurrah, hurrah! I found your blog this week and have been binge-reading posts on your website; I usually read through the comments and discussions because there's a lot of additional great learning from them. I remember two comments that you'd made, that you worked full-time outside of HB&M and that you didn't have the time for creating TH-cam videos, so it's been absolutely lovely discovering you are now full-time Humblebee and Me! I adore your honesty and straight talk, and girl, you make me giggle often. A very Happy Anniversary x
Hurrah indeed! I'm incredibly lucky to be able to spend the vast majority of my time making things, taking photos, and sharing what I love with such an enthusiastic, kind audience 😄 It's pretty much the best version of my life possible-I just wish I had a clone, ha! Thanks so much for reading & watching ❤️
I can't tell you how much I appreciate how hard you work to make things and give us your recipes... For free! The generosity is overwhelming and I can't express how that makes me feel, when others guard their recipes so closely that you can't even get a hint of which essential oils have been used (not that I've asked for a secret recipe because I totally get guarding one's business), But, once upon a time, I had a reaction to a producer and the maker insisted that it couldn't possibly have caused it. Anyway, the essential oils were listed as "fragrance or essential oil blend". I wasn't asking for the specific formula or whatever, just which oils were used... Anyway, I ended up with a really expensive product I couldn't use and no way of knowing what specifically caused the issue. Ah well, they lost a customer and I really miss the product.
So much of your DIY journey resonated with me! I am at a point where I am still buying all my water based things (toners, eye cream, facial sunscreen) because working with preservatives scares me (definitely would not want to screw it up) and, as you said, water is super great for your skin! There is no shame in being a DIYer who does not DIY everything.
Absolutely! There's no need to feel like you have to go all-in (for anything!). Make the things you love making, keep buying things you love or just want to try-it's all good!
Soooo glad you mentioned that about the EWG database. It's just unfortunate that they are the first website to pop up when googling the safety of a product and I honestly think that is the reason why so many people have such a misconception of natural always being safe while all synthetics are evil. It's just easier to read the first website that google throws at you rather than doing indepth research.
Oh gosh, I know! And they make everything seem so cut & dry. This is good, this is bad, end of story. It's hard to convince people that things just aren't that black and white because black and white is so easy!
When i start doing DIY body butters i loved the way it looks i just wanted to it it!! But i realised that it didn't do much for my dry and itchy skin also for my kids, so i learn that you need water! as much as i love body butters i just have to use less and use lotions or creams.
I feel you! I made SO many body butters/salves/balms/etc., but my skin just wasn't happy if there wasn't water in the mix. I still love body butters, but I find they work best for me if applied after a bath or shower so there's some water on my skin.
Ladies, how can i make proper lotion with out beeswax amd simple oils? Also, from both of you ladies, i also realized water is needed in creams. I made a cream of shea butter and coconut oil smd a bit rosehip seed oil and whipped it with a spoon till it made it very creamy. As far as lotion how does it work? And added water. Thank You
I’ve got a basic How to Make Lotion video-it’s my most popular one ever so it’s pretty easy to find on my channel homepage 😊 that’s a good place to start!
I feel like I have learned so much along with you by following your blog and TH-cam channel over the past (almost) two years! Thanks for all you do, Marie! ☺️
Great video! I am a student at Formula Botanica and I’m always looking for other reliable content to learn from as well. Thanks for sharing what you’ve learned :)
Ugh makes me sad that people comment rude things to you! I look up to you and your an inspiration! I have learned so much through your blog and videos thank you for all your hard work 😍 there will ALWAYS be trolls. You could solve world hunger and people will still have negative things to say.
Keep doing you you beautiful Bee!! You are Brilliant. A shinning light, and an utmost amazing source of knowledge and humor for us beings just trying to Bee better!!!!!!
Happy birthday Humblebee & Me 🎉 ❤️ Thanks for always selflessly sharing your knowledge about making skincare and cosmetics. I wish you growth and happiness. 😘
I think you are very pretty and smart, don't let anyone make you feel bad, people are just jealous of professional people who are successful. Keep up the good work, I LOVE all your information and I'm happy I found someone like you to help me make things the right way. Thank you so much for what you do.
Have loved your posts for years. Keep doing the great work that you have been doing. I learned a lot from you but also learned a lot from some of the people you mentioned. It is just always great to be curious/learn about the ingredients, processes and formulations.
I added you today. Found out about your lipstick video. Saw it and gave me some ideas. I make my own lip gloss and mascara organic and sell on Amazon. But been thinking of expanding to lip stick, your video opened my protocol plans more widely. Still watching more of your videos. So far your a top of my favorite. Thank you very much, such beautiful personality mixed with alot of informational instinct creativeness.
I've been subscribed for a couple of years now and LOVE your videos! I learned how to make conditioners and lotions thru you and find you to be a valuable resource when doing my diy's. Love your personality and spirit. Keep doing what you are doing!
I'm excited about jumping into making my own lip balms and whipped body butters and slowly (as I can afford) buying some essential supplies to get started very soon. I've watched tons of videos but yours are my favorite because you explain so well all the hows and whys of what goes into each product that even a beginner can understand. One thing I will say about the rude trolls, they are everywhere on the internet. I believe there are some people that have nothing better to do than go around insulting people. But that's okay, karma will take care of them. :) You keep doing YOU! You have a huge following so you must be doing something right..lol.
I just watched your video on preservatives and you mentioned that anything to do with skin care that contains water presents a possible problem with bacteria, mold, etc. In this video you mention how much your skin loves products with water in it. So I’m just a beginner in this field and afraid to possibly make someone sick because I included water in my product. Please help me with this dilemma. Did I miss something and I realize this video here is now 5 years old so maybe that has something to do with it? I highly regard your videos!❤
I have just discovered you and before I go off the deep end and buy stuff, I decided to binge on you channel, take notes, and read the blog. In this video about things you do not do anymore, you said no longer count drops. I have written down a number of your older formulations which use drops. I am wondering how to translate those drops to grams...if using a standard lab eye dropper, would one drop from a bottle be about the same as that from an standard eyedropper? About the ignorant trolls who use time out of their day to be jerks...BAH HUMBUG!!! You ROCK!
Just discovered your channel and I absolutely love it! Informative, original and not biased towards only natural ingredients! This is something truly rare these days and I really appreciate your content ❤ Keep up the good work 👍
Thank you so much! Don't forget to check out my blog as well (humblebeeandme.com)-I've been blogging for over 7.5 years while I’ve only been on TH-cam for about 3, so there is TONS more content on the blog! Happy making :)
I bought dried rose petals to make rosewater. I planned on adding germall plus. Do you think that would be hard to preserve? Should I just stick to hydrosols?
I find hydrosols perform a lot better than making what is more or less an herbal tea with the botanical-they have a much more potent, lovely smell + don't discolour the product. Happy making!
Lol what inspiring and lovely people to actually take the time to make these comments. Obviously not happy humans! Absolutely don’t take any notice. Your energy and positivity is inspiring. Shine on ! ✨✨✨
I'm worried my comment won't get seen and responded to since this is a 4 year old video, but I might as well try. You mentioned a FB group and said you'd link to it, but I don't see a link for that in the description. Am i missing it? Did you forget it? Did it need to be removed? I really like doing things as naturally as possible, but I'm also convinced that I can learn from anyone and I am not great at being perfectly crunchy in other areas so I figure I'll just keep learning and stay humble and figure it out. If your info isn't as valuable to me down the road, then that's fine. I appreciate it now.
Hi Marie. Congrats on your 7th year and Happy Birthday. Mine is also in Sept. Just recently subscribed to your channel and blog post and bought your book. I've been making my own body creams, facial serums, eye cream, deodorant and soaps since the late 1990's and I'm still loving it! At 62 my skin is in pretty good shape. Just need to work on the wrinkles around my eyes and mouth. LOL I love learning new things about body, facial and soap products and your channel and blog have so much information; it's just awesome! Wishing you great success and happiness!
I was wondering what scale to order at Lotion Crafter to weigh essential oils, the little black one shown here? I use the “ Smart Weigh Pro Pocket Scale you recommended a few years ago but I am not sure it is the right one to weigh essential oils in such a small quantity. I love your blog and videos! You are such a wonderful teacher! Thank you for sharing! I make almost every recipe you post.
The wee little Smart Weigh one is still great, I just appreciate the extra 100g maximum weight on this one (the Jennings JSR-200). It's much more expensive (~$70) than the SW one as well.
You can try incorporating some isopropyl myristate (IPM) to make things feel lighter/faster absorbing. You can learn more about it in the Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia)!
Thanks so much, Kimberly-welcome! Don't forget to check out my blog as well (humblebeeandme.com/)-I've been blogging for 7 years while I’ve only been on TH-cam for about 2, so there is TONS more content on the blog!
I find those who approach me with strident views about my body care products are generally super uninformed and are merely on a soap box (pun intended). You have a lovely way of informing without being preachy. Happy Birthday to you. Or, as said in Irish language, lá breithe shona duit.
Isn’t minerals & mica’ are harmful for skin? How do we make safe organic, blush, eye shadows & lipsticks? I watched your few more videos. I loved them but I’m very new to mica or minerals you use to make lipsticks or blushes ! Please reply. Thanks
Please give these articles a read :) www.humblebeeandme.com/faqs/_____________-ingredient-safe/ cosmeticsinfo.org/ingredient/mica-0 www.humblebeeandme.com/research-red-flags-learn-ingredients/
I understand that emulsifiers are usually used for water-oil formulations, but can I use an emulsifier such as cetearyl alcohol to simply thicken an all-oil formulation?
Cetearyl alcohol isn't an emulsifier, but it is a lovely thickener. You can learn more here (www.humblebeeandme.com/project/cetearyl-alcohol/) and review the results of some of my experiments with it to determine its thickening power here (www.humblebeeandme.com/quick-guide-cetearyl-alcohol-liquid-oil-ratios/). Happy making!
Hi Marie, a quick question. I want to make a shampoo I have a recipe with soybean oil, can I substitute it for grapeseed oil? This falls into the category of I think I can having done a little research and I don't have in my cupboard.. PS Love the vids and thank you.
I can guarantee that you do not look like a giraffe. You are only a Perfectly pretty woman! Thank you for your time and effort. I like your comment about EWG.
I have questions about plant matter like shavegrass, slippery elm, colloidal oats, and the like. 1.) Can it still be added to anhydrous, oil-based products with a bacterial rave happening? 2.)Are any of them OK to add to homemade conditioners without causing bacteria to break out the tiny glowsticks and start partying? Thanks! And thanks for all that you do. You're amazing, smart, kind, funny, and kind of adorable. Since I read your book and finally started adding e-wax NF to my anhydrous products, the things I've made have been a million times better.
Hey Sarah! If something is 100% anhydrous you are good to go-I'll take advantage of this with projects like this one (www.humblebeeandme.com/oatmeal-milk-after-shower-oil/), where you can add water at the moment of use so you can still have water + hard to preserve things. If you want to add botanical powers to things with water I recommend getting a cosmetic grade botanical extract. You can buy both liquid and powdered versions-liquids are WAY easier to work with! I hope that helps :)
You are a marvelous human being, thank you so much for taking your time of explain8ng all this things,..you are helping a lots of ppl like myself.thank you thank you thank you💥❤️🌹
great I've been needing a mini scale. hunting has been overwhelming. I was just gifted some bacuri butter, any suggestions on the best things to make with it for over 50 skin?
Oooh, I've never even heard of bacuri butter! Older skin is more prone to dehydration, so I'd recommend making a lotion using the butter and lots of great humectants, like vegetable glycerin. It looks like you could use it in place of shea butter-and the recommendations seem to be to keep amounts fairly low as apparently it can cause staining. Happy making!
(i do realize this video is a couple years old at this point, and...) awww... this kind of breaks my heart to listen to... specifically the going more chem-based, industry-focused stuff. But let me explain why: the long and short of it is i started getting interested in soap making back in 2013 as i tried to purge the slew of bottles clogging up my shower. it was a cut-the-clutter mentality that through research lead me to more of a anti-chem for eco reasons mentality (meaning anti-plastic and anti-petrol, not there aren't ANY chems that are safely derived, safe for the ecosystem, and safe for our use as well). through looking up about soap making, i found humblebee and learned everything from soap making to basic lotion, lip balm, and body butter formulation. my mom and i switched a lot of what we use to homemade, whole ingredient products, and we have since moved into being zero-waste, and are now transitioning into homesteading as a direct result. additionally, with zero-waste comes a very anti-capital, anti-trend, anti-ultra-processing mentality. all this to explain that hearing the person that taught me so much about bare care - and changed my life really - talking about industry trends and using more detergent-based surfactants is just... idk, it just makes me sad i guess. humblebee's posts about bare care and soaping have been so, so empowering to me in getting my body care to the very minimalist place i wanted to get it to. and i still send folks to your soap blogs anytime someone inquires about my own soaping and how it's done or where i learned. i'm very, very grateful to your blog for all the info and knowledge it's given me. it's such a wonderful resource. while i, likewise, have no energy to give to outright arguing, i'm perfectly happy to have convos with anyone interested.
HIIII SWEETIEE!! CAN YOU DO A TUTORIAL HOW TO MAKE CREAM BLUSH ON?? PLEASEEE. I HAVE A LOT OF BEESWAX, COCOA BUTTER, OXIDE, ESSENTIAL OILS BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM
You're so cute! Love your videos. I abhore EWG, like you. I recommend water, then applying an oil or butter product. It's a way to naturally emulsify them.
You can 100% use extracts! Cosmetic grade extracts are a-ok (just stick within the recommended usage levels), it's the making tea from dried herbs angle that's very hard to preserve :)
You are amazing, I hate the "natural talibans" (hope I spelled it correctly) who criticize every single recipe containing some non-natural ingredient. I have learned so much from your videos and blog. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! That said, I'm trying to formulate a whipped body butter that doesn't melt at temperatures of 28/30°C. I have tried many variations, but the ones that are perfect at lower temperatures melt above 28, the ones that stay a little bit firmier are too hard under 23/24°C. Do you have any input to help me?
Thank you! I tend to agree-let's worry about safety and not "natural-ness" :) I think you may have to turn to an emulsion for your body butter; everything has a melting point, and I'm not convinced it is possible to make the melting point as broad as you want it to be.
MARIE THAT IS BEYOND WRONG. PPL IF YOUVE GOTTA BE UGLY. KEEP STEPPING. DO NOT RUIN IT FOR REST THAT ENJOYS LEARNING FROM HER. I CHANGE UP MY OILS ? BUT THATS ON ME. NOT MARIE.. MARIES TY FOR ALL YOU DO
Just a quick heads-up. Petrolatum-based products are safe for skin, but do be careful around flames. These products, while not flammable, per se, *are* fire hazards.
It's always good to be careful-all oils are flammable to some degree, and we make lovely candles out of beeswax because it's nice and flammable, too. I wouldn't recommend soaking fabric in any kind of oil and getting to close to an open flame-or standing too close to open flames in general!
Thanks, Zoya! And I will do a video on my skin care routine, but it might have to wait until after Christmas as I have so many fun Christmas videos lined up!
Hi my name is Tom I make soy candles and had a friend ask about butters so I’ve watched a couple of your videos and thought about trying some of your recipes. Do you feel they are beneficial and help are skin and hair?
Hi Tom! I love butters for skin and hair-especially mango and cupuacu, both of which have wonderful skin feel. If you're looking for formulas that use butters be sure to check out the Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/). Each entry has a list of formulas using the ingredient in question. Happy making!
I have done it successfully, but I've heard from readers doing the same thing as me that it hasn't worked-so, it depends, basically. I have also had great results including colloidal oatmeal @ 1-3% in emulsions and I find I prefer that these days. Happy making!

Good call! I would be really interested in hearing more about your experience. How did you have it professionally tested? What was in the recipe?
❤️ You've made my day-I'm so thrilled I helped inspire you!
@@HumblebeeAndMe I actually gave you credit when I finished and told the FB community you were my inspiration. So thank you. 😊
Thanks so much, Carlos!
For free! The generosity is overwhelming and I can't express how that makes me feel, when others guard their recipes so closely that you can't even get a hint of which essential oils have been used (not that I've asked for a secret recipe because I totally get guarding one's business),
But, once upon a time, I had a reaction to a producer and the maker insisted that it couldn't possibly have caused it.
Hi there. Did you mean infusing fresh herbs ? Or is it the same problem with dried ones ?
I feel like I have learned so much along with you by following your blog and TH-cam channel over the past (almost) two years! Thanks for all you do, Marie! ☺️
Thank you so much, Charlotte! I really appreciate your support 😊
I've been wondering about milks in lotions for a long time now. Glad I saw this and didn't just do it to see what would happen. Thanks Marie!
Great video! I am a student at Formula Botanica and I’m always looking for other reliable content to learn from as well. Thanks for sharing what you’ve learned :)
Thank you so much! Happy making and happy studies!
Thank you so much for all your thoughts and information Marie!
Thanks so much, Rita!
Ugh makes me sad that people comment rude things to you! I look up to you and your an inspiration! I have learned so much through your blog and videos thank you for all your hard work 😍 there will ALWAYS be trolls. You could solve world hunger and people will still have negative things to say.
Thanks so much, Bianca ❤️
Thank you for this conversation and sharing your experience.
Love how you are being "smart" about what you need to make and what you don't need to make
Thanks! It took a while to realize it didn't have to be all-or-nothing, and it's much less stressful this way :)
Keep doing you you beautiful Bee!! You are Brilliant. A shinning light, and an utmost amazing source of knowledge and humor for us beings just trying to Bee better!!!!!!
Happy birthday Humblebee & Me 🎉 ❤️
Thanks for always selflessly sharing your knowledge about making skincare and cosmetics. I wish you growth and happiness. 😘
Thank you so much! ❤️
I think you are very pretty and smart, don't let anyone make you feel bad, people are just jealous of professional people who are successful. Keep up the good work, I LOVE all your information and I'm happy I found someone like you to help me make things the right way. Thank you so much for what you do.
I came across your you tube channel today .....and well I am hooked. Thank you for be so humble and honest 💕
Thanks so much for watching, Tracy!
You are the best answer to “what is beauty”? Which is, a perfect combination of external and internal beauty….which is you Marie :)
Happy birthday, humblebee and me!
Thank you!
Totally agree with the exclusion of usage rate of ingredients on EWG. You've convinced me to just throw the whole site away, lol!
Usage rates are SO important and somehow they've managed to build an empire around ignoring them. It's so frustrating!
Thank you for all your knowledge and sharing. It has made my life easier and now I want to get back into this venue more in making product adventure.
Thanks so much! Happy making :D
Love your honesty. Thank you…..thank you…
Have loved your posts for years.
Welcome, and happy making! ❤️
I've been subscribed for a couple of years now and LOVE your videos! I learned how to make conditioners and lotions thru you and find you to be a valuable resource when doing my diy's. Love your personality and spirit. Keep doing what you are doing!
Thank you so much! ❤️
Happy 7th! 🎂🎉
I appreciate your knowledge for real DIYs.
I always get excited when I see a new video in my TH-cam listing.
Thank you so much, Josephine!
You are a FANTASTIC teacher! Keep up the good work, onwards and upwards!:)
Awesome video Marie, thanks so much!
Back to botanicals. Did you ever try to extract cucumber for example and then using a preservative in the water (cucumber and water blended)
Sorry people have been crummy to you. You are absolutely lovable.
You ROCK!
Fixing to step out on eye shadow. I m stepping out. I fail? Ill find you. Find out what I m doing wrong
Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge, it's very helpful ❤
Can you do an updated lotion tutorial??
Plzzz!!
I probably release a new lotion tutorial every month, they just aren't generic ones. Have you been watching those?
2024 and just found your channel. Love it! Thank you for all your work and experience. Invaluable information ♥♥♥
You have given me so many ideas. I love your videos. I like your personality. You are funny and explain things so well. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Mel!
Don’t worry girl, you killing it!
Thank you! 😄
@@HumblebeeAndMe thanks for the reply! I won't bother with it unless I'm in a pinch then. Thank you your content is awesome! :-)
Do you find it difficult to preserve turmeric powder in an aqueous product?
Lol what inspiring and lovely people to actually take the time to make these comments. Obviously not happy humans! Absolutely don’t take any notice. Your energy and positivity is inspiring. Shine on ! ✨✨✨
Thanks so much, Charles!
Thanks to you, I learned how to formulate lotion!!! You are amazing!!!
Yay! I'm so glad I could help :) Thanks for DIYing with me!
You are so cute, Marie! The more I watch you, the more I like to see you.. Thank you for all you have done. You are such a generous and kind soul.😊
I have learned so much just watching a few of your videos! I’m subscribing!
Thank you so much, and welcome!
Happy Anniversary, I love all your recipes and bought your book. We hope to see another new book again soon. Continue please and you are GREAT!!👍👍
Thanks so much, Nana!
You look gorgeous with light curly hair marie
That was a good one. Thank you for the review!
Thanks for watching! :)
Thank you so much, and welcome! I hope I'm still DIYing and loving it when I'm 62 😄
Your skin is amazing
Thank you!
How do you know if light lotion is being absorbed or just evaporates, as it is mostly water?
Including water based products in your skin care routine ?
What do u mean by that ?
Products that contain water rather than just oils 😊
@@HumblebeeAndMe would it be the same if you apply a water based serum and then the face oil or the face butter while the skin is still damp?
How do I get rid of the waxy feeling of Shea Butter in my formulas? I hate the feel but love the benefits of Shea.
You can try incorporating some isopropyl myristate (IPM) to make things feel lighter/faster absorbing. You can learn more about it in the Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia)!
iam very new to your channel but really like how informative you are and cant wait to learn more from you

I find those who approach me with strident views about my body care products are generally super uninformed and are merely on a soap box (pun intended). You have a lovely way of informing without being preachy. Happy Birthday to you. Or, as said in Irish language,

You are so genuine n nice.😊
I understand that emulsifiers are usually used for water-oil formulations, but can I use an emulsifier such as cetearyl alcohol to simply thicken an all-oil formulation?
Cetearyl alcohol isn't an emulsifier, but it is a lovely thickener. You can learn more here (www.humblebeeandme.com/project/cetearyl-alcohol/) and review the results of some of my experiments with it to determine its thickening power here (www.humblebeeandme.com/quick-guide-cetearyl-alcohol-liquid-oil-ratios/). Hi Marie...you are such a sweetheart and I love your DIYs. Looking forward to more....thank you!!!
Thanks for watching!
Do you make deodorants? I been meaning to buy a higher tier of patreon, but its sold out..😢 if i bought it can we make one with colloidal silver?
Some jerk: You look like a giraffe.
Marie (probably): You misspelled 'graceful'.
I love your good information sharing. I always learn form you thank you so much.

I absolutely love your content♥️
Thank you so much!!
Happy New Year! I would love to hear your thoughts, and/or recipes about DIY house cleaning supplies.
This such a good post! Keep going! 🤗👌💕
Thank you so much!!
Hi Marie, a quick question. I want to make a shampoo I have a recipe with soybean oil, can I substitute it for grapeseed oil? This falls into the category of I think I can having done a little research and I don't have in my cupboard..
PS Love the vids and thank you.
It depends, but probably. Have you read this post of mine? www.humblebeeandme.com/a-guide-to-carrier-oil-substitutions/ :)
Hi i need your help, is there any huge difference of silica or silk powder to serecite mica?
Reading along.....
(i do realize this video is a couple years old at this point, and...)
awww... this kind of breaks my heart to listen to... specifically the going more chem-based, industry-focused stuff. But let me explain why:
the long and short of it is i started getting interested in soap making back in 2013 as i tried to purge the slew of bottles clogging up my shower. it was a cut-the-clutter mentality that through research lead me to more of a anti-chem for eco reasons mentality (meaning anti-plastic and anti-petrol, not there aren't ANY chems that are safely derived, safe for the ecosystem, and safe for our use as well). through looking up about soap making, i found humblebee and learned everything from soap making to basic lotion, lip balm, and body butter formulation. my mom and i switched a lot of what we use to homemade, whole ingredient products, and we have since moved into being zero-waste, and are now transitioning into homesteading as a direct result. additionally, with zero-waste comes a very anti-capital, anti-trend, anti-ultra-processing mentality.
all this to explain that hearing the person that taught me so much about bare care - and changed my life really - talking about industry trends and using more detergent-based surfactants is just... idk, it just makes me sad i guess. humblebee's posts about bare care and soaping have been so, so empowering to me in getting my body care to the very minimalist place i wanted to get it to. and i still send folks to your soap blogs anytime someone inquires about my own soaping and how it's done or where i learned.
i'm very, very grateful to your blog for all the info and knowledge it's given me. it's such a wonderful resource.
while i, likewise, have no energy to give to outright arguing, i'm perfectly happy to have convos with anyone interested.
HIIII SWEETIEE!! CAN YOU DO A TUTORIAL HOW TO MAKE CREAM BLUSH ON?? PLEASEEE. I HAVE A LOT OF BEESWAX, COCOA BUTTER, OXIDE, ESSENTIAL OILS BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THEM
There is one in my book :) www.humblebeeandme.com/make-it-up-preorder/
You're so cute! Love your videos. I abhore EWG, like you. I recommend water, then applying an oil or butter product. It's a way to naturally emulsify them.
Thank you! :)
Great video, thank you very much. I will follow you forever.
Thank you and happy making!
So you don’t use extracts in anything anymore? Yikes, I added some to my hyraulonic acid. It may not last long? I did add germall plus.
Thank you! I tend to agree-let's worry about safety and not "natural-ness" :)
I think you may have to turn to an emulsion for your body butter; everything has a melting point, and I'm not convinced it is possible to make the melting point as broad as you want it to be.
Hi Marie! I am a huge fan of You, you inspire me to try new things so thank you soo soo much.
Ps: Please share your skincare routine. ❤
Happy making!
where did you get the scale that you measure the essential oils with?
Please look up "precision scale" in the Humblebee & Me DIY Encyclopedia (www.humblebeeandme.com/diy-encyclopedia/) :)
What about oat milk? Can it be preserved at home?
I have done it successfully, but I've heard from readers doing the same thing as me that it hasn't worked-so, it depends, basically. I have also had great results including colloidal oatmeal @ 1-3% in emulsions and I find I prefer that these days. Happy making!
