Congrats, Sir. The podcast has been essential for me (and all GBV fans, I’m certain) and I absolute cannot wait to pick this up in June. Looks beautiful. Thanks for all the great content.
Very informative post. Insightful and full of trivia. Cannot wait to get a copy of your book. Been a fan of GbV since I first picked up a copy of The Grand Hour 7". Got to interview Bob, Tobin and Mitch separately in the 90s for my lofi zine.
Dude I really want the book but I'm worried you'll say about mag earwhig. Bee thousand, propeller, and mag earwhig are my top 3 and I assure you its worthy of that. I think your life would be significantly better if you gave it some more listens :) but great job man I'm so happy to see anyone make gbv related content.
I think I may be in the minority since I don't think I Am A Tree is the best song on that album. Jane of the W Universe gets my vote as top song, not only for that specific album but in the entirety of GBV's songbook.
PS. The "Suruga Bay" cover story on National Geographic, in my head I hear "Guru me baby"... I wonder if that is the connection? Also I'm still bugged that Bob has never done songs called Motorpranks and To Live and Die in LA Lounge that he namechecks as cool song titles in Watch Me Jumpstart.
You mean August By Cake? The band were drinking in Calgary and Bob held up his beer in a funny way and said, "I bet this is how they drink beer in Calgary." This was christened "the Calgarian method," and band members would photograph themselves employing it and send pics to each other. Mark's photo was taken just for fun in a Vietnamese restaurant in Brooklyn, with an iPhone, and he sent it to Bob. Pollard loved it and then used it for the photo.
@@selfinflictedauralnostalgi9067 Thanks, that one was puzzling me. Even more puzzling is the cover art to Self Inflicted Ariel Nostalgia Any idea where that alien figure/shoe print came from?
Self Inflicted Aural Nostalgia ah ok 😂 Hey I loved all your run through of the GBV albums here. Maybe one day all the Bob solo discs that would be amazing !
Super book Jeff about a super band well done.

Thanks so much, man; it's been a lot of fun. #inbobwetrust
I’m all over this.
At 11:25 _Waved Out_ is claimed to be Pollards first solo album.
My copy of _Not In My Airforce_ begs to differ.

I just started reading this book. Boy is it fascinating
awesome, thanks; hope you like it!
Can't wait for the book coming out. Congrats on getting published. It feeds the GBV nerd in me beautifully, and your podcasts have been manna.
Congratulations! Excited to read it

Nope, nothing to worry about; my top two are Bee Thousand and Propeller, so I think we're aligned ;-)

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon months ago - no update yet... anyone else?
Congrats on what looks like a great book! Whats the meaning of the A by C cover?
