Hey Viktor, thanks for nice video. Do have another video or can you share your experience with DK health care system in the context of baby's. E.g. like how easy is to access to the children doctor? Where will you call/go in case of urgent cases, etc ? Thanks

This is a complicated one. Your experience will greatly vary depending on how 'nice is your GP. They will be your first contact and the person who can give you references for specialists such as paediatricians, dermatologists and more.
Some specialists do not require a referral such as ENTs, but most of them do.
You will have to make your own appointment by calling around specialists, which is a bit of a lottery sometimes, to be honest.
This system is a bit of a frustration for us because once your kid is sick you don't want to spend a day getting a referral, and calling around for an appointment that might be 2 weeks away, but that's how it works unfortunately.
Alternatively, you could look into private health insurance that will get you seen faster. My company offers this as a benefit, and my children are covered within my policy. We have relied on this multiple times in the past when we just couldn't wait weeks for a specialist thru the public system.
For urgent cases like life-threatening stuff just call 112. Other than that call 1813 which is the acute number within the Copenhagen region. On 1813 it's doctors or nurses who take the call so sometimes they give you a prescription on the spot, other times they send you to a hospital depending on your location.
I love how so much of this is actually online e.g. bookings, your results and more. But having a non-helpful GP and the hunt for specialists when you need one can be a bit of a challenge.

I have a joke that there are 3 types of danish parents.
Curling parents who sweeps every opsticle away.
Fottball parents who gives you a kick in the ass, when you need to get toward the goal.
Bowling parents who shoot and hope for the best.

As a father of 3 I couldn't imagine a better place to raise my kids. The thing I really like, is that we don't infantalize our kids too much. They get room to run free and enjoy childhood

Thank you for your insightful videos. I do not have a child but I do want to make the move to Danmark. What made me happy was the cashless way of paying. I haven't heard too much on that topic and was getting a bit anxious. I am from Canada and I haven't had cash in so long. So it is nice to hear I won't have to use a credit card as much or use cash as much on my move there in a couple years. Great videos, keep up the great work!!

Hi Viktor! I love your videos. Thanks for sharing all valuable information. I am inspired to moved to Denmark soon, and the visa process is a bit confusing. You think it is possible to enter the country with a visitor visa ( I am allow to stay for 90 days as tourist ) and while there look for a job and apply for the work visa? thanks in advance for your response.

Thanks for checking out the videos!
I moved here as an EU resident so my case was pretty straightforward. I am not too familiar with migration from outside of the EU so I rather not give you bad advice.
But perhaps try to ask people over at a Copenhagen Facebook group, or on the Copenhagen subreddit. There’s quite a lot of questions like this over there and if you are being a bit more specific e.g. what work you want, what experience you have etc. it’s easier for people to answer your questions.
Good luck with the move, I hope you can make it happen!

Hi child care is free in DK

    • @viktor-farkas
      @viktor-farkas  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

Daycare and kindergarten is not free.
The cost is calculated based on your household’s income.
But kindergarten is cheaper than the daycare.
