- In this step-by-step video tutorial, you'll learn how to build a config file in Power Automate Desktop. This complete guide shows how to create a reusable configuration file using Excel and some advanced techniques. Using a config makes it easy to maintain workflows. Another benefit is business users can have access to the config, but not the code.

We use environment variables for storing Important config data. If the process has a lot more variables then excel
That also a great approach 🙌
Another informative video tutorial! Thanks a ton for sharing this @Anders!
💯🙌🏼🙏🏼
Thank you very much, Geraldine - your support helps me a lot 🤩🤩🤩
Great walkthrough
My pleasue, Kensley 🙂
Thank you for your video. good practice for developing RPA solution😍
Thanks a bunch, @PitakYT 🤩 I've created a Discord. We're more than 10,000+ RPA developers networking and solving problems here: th-cam.com/video/xWFz-S96XGo/w-d-xo.html You're more than welcome. Kind regards, Anders
Config file is definitely one of the best practice when developing solution.
Do you prefer Excel or another method (JSON etc.)?
@@andersjensenorg I always use excel for config file and pass it to datatable.
After that proceed to do assignment in each key value pair for further action.
Great video as always Anders and I'm very appreciative for the amount of free content you put out. One comment I would make to this video is to potentially add a 1-2 minute wait before the build config desktop flow runs, allowing OneDrive to sync any file changes. I recently came across this issue and a hard wait solved it. PAD can sometimes run quicker than OneDrive can sync :).
Thanks x 1000, Chandler. Comments like this are gold 😍 Regarding the wait: I've disabled OneDrive sync with the Excel config, and I recommend always doing so (disabling the sync for the documents in our automation), when working with M365 in PAD (unless required). Have a great day. Kind regards, Anders
Hello Thanks for your videos I'm working on Uipath now , watching your power Automate Desktop videos and I'm just wondering that if you could make end to end real time projects, usecases so that I can get hands on experience on another RPA tool along with Uipath and moreover that drives me to grab opportunities to work on Power Automate domain
Thanks

Thank you so much. Have you seen this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLXXz88_TPiHqbQENjPjBkO3DSro06cAcb.html 🙂
What are some other values you might need to include in a config file?
Hey user. URLs, data paths, length of timeouts, environment details, error-handling parameters, emails, retries and parameters for the log/report. Kind regards, Anders
I tried to run the vb script but the output is empty?

@Anders? I get this error : We haven't found %ConfigPath%\\%WorkflowName%.xlsx. The values of my variables are not being taken correctly, it's just taking the name of the variable as a text. Some help?

Thanks for a great tutorial! Coming from Blue Prism background being able to store "environmental variables" is crucial for life cycle management and transporting processes and objects between environments (dev->uat->prod). Great if you at some point could share some thoughts and best practises about how to do the same between PAD environments :)
Hey Christian - many thanks 😊 I have a larger video planned for 2024, and what you want to look at is "Solutions" in Power Automate Cloud. Have you seen this 2-hour PAD Best practice video: th-cam.com/video/QjrxLPg_TdI/w-d-xo.html I'm sure you're familiar with almost everything though. Kind regards, Anders
"Houston i have a problem".When i made Run desktop flow did not appears to me the Input variables and i can´t choose the workflowName: %WorkflowName%.
The BuildConfig PAD, its like yours, i saw it several times. I real don´t know what s the problem.
That's weird, can you try post a screenshot of the problem on the discord? The link is in the description of the video 🙂 Kind regards, Anders
That's weird, can you please post a screenshot on the discord (the link is in the video description). Kind regards, Anders

It's a bug in version 2.38 that input/output variables do not appear in the Run desktop flow dialog, if that's what you mean. We're expecting a fix. Hopefully, soon." Obrigado Agnius for your help.
@@ALVINMAN452 Yeah, input variable/s are still not shown in version 2.39 in Run Desktop Flow. Is there any workaround for this ?
getting error- failed to create custom object
