    Another suggestion for Hunter's firewood business is: Hunter & Stanley's NO-Bark Campfire wood. The bag could show a silhouette picture of both Hunter and Stanley. Good luck and best wishes from Ontario, Canada.

    So, Mike, I have to ask, and I'm sure you got some of this info at Buckin'Stock...but what's the aversion to firewood that has bark? I suppose that barked wood burns faster....differently? I live mostly in Florida, except for upward of a month at my cottage in Michigan, so I'm curious, given that you live in western PA. Having said all that, I think that what you're creating for Hunter is epically SO cool!! I've told Melissa (somewhere on social media) that my girlfriend has twin special-needs girls who are now 22, and in a work/care facility part of each weekday. Hunter seems to be further along than her girls, but it's inspiring to see him dig into something like this. I'm looking forward to seeing him bag up this pristine firewood!!

    • @supporterofsanity
      @supporterofsanity 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol pretty sure he doesn’t have any aversion to bark. The no bark stuff is only for Hunter to bag and sell. More premium. I wouldn’t burn bark in a smoker so if I’m spending money for premium wood I don’t want the bark. Pure heartwood would be my ideal wood.

    • @PatrickWagz
      @PatrickWagz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@supporterofsanity bark holds most of the dirt that created while it cures, especially if the bark falls off while it seasons

    • @supporterofsanity
      @supporterofsanity 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Patrick Wagz lol no clue what you are trying to say?

    • @PatrickWagz
      @PatrickWagz 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@supporterofsanity I fill one of my woodsheds and then let it season/cure for at least a year. Then, as I take the wood out to use it, I've found that most of the "mess" that remains in the wood shed after it's emptied, is from the bark. The mess could be pieces of bark, dirt that was in the bark itself when the logs were drug around, or other dust and junk from the bark.

    Mike, that cherry will burn beautiful in a wood stove.
    I cut down and split wood 4 over 20 years.
    Yes the sound of the wood, but also the smell of it. I did enjoy the work, and the heat in my 3200 sq foot home with 2 wood stoves.
    But you are so lucky to have your daughter helping you.
    Keep M coming.

    I got to thinking about all of the firewood cutting y’all do. I watch ALL of the cutting and splitting videos you’ve done recently.
    Do you have any videos where you show the fireplace or wood stove you use? My wife and I are building a house right now. We might move into it around the new year. I really want to choose the right wood stove setup.

    I checked on you when I got up today at 10AM, I'm a night shifter and there was no new video from the Morgans. Damn near didn't know what to do, the whole day now is out of whack because nothing new from the Morgans. So I watched a couple different videos from other people while I drank my coffee, but it just wasn't the same. Maybe I need to stay back a few videos so that way there's a buffer. Love you guys. You're enjoyed more than folks tell you. Promise......

      Gabe, same here, but they produced so many videos in the past two years, I sometimes watch the earlier vids to pick up some other points since they all have great content. Been a sub since Mike started this channel with his Kubota and cell phone camera! I personally think this channel has grown due to the best content/ camera angles and technique / editing /personality / teachable moments with focus on their family values & togetherness.
      Thats just my opinion though.

    Not sure if this is the best place for you to see this comment, but Hunter needs to sell that cherry and maple for cooking/smoking wood. Excellent wood to cook with. What a waste to heat with it. You can sell it for a lot more money in small quantities for cooking. You could also take those nice pieces and cut them up into blocks for people that just want to add a couple of small pieces to their charcoal grills. I use it in splits like you have there in my stick burner, TS120 Meadowcreek Smoker, and also smaller pieces in my Weber Kettle and Weber "Santa Maria" grill.
    Pennsylvania is where my Meadowcreek cooker was made. You should contact them to find dealers in your area that would love to have you supply them with good seasoned cooking wood.
    Here's a cooker like mine except I also have their 60" pig cooker on the same trailer.
    th-cam.com/video/Mjm50CiuIws/w-d-xo.html
    And here's my Santa Maria attachment for one of my Weber Kettles.
    th-cam.com/video/NPV4F5uYPiw/w-d-xo.html
    BTW, we have a son with autism that turned 21 in August. Brian is in his last year of school. He goes to a school for kids with special needs. He's verbal but takes speech twice a week. He can be hard to understand sometimes. He is a very loving young man! You have to have a child with autism to understand just how special they are.
    I've been enjoying your channel. We have 28 acres in NC. You've got me really wanting a RK tractor. Can't decide on the 37 or 55. I have a 1/2 mile of driveway to maintain. I'm currently using a 1972 International 454 gas 42 HP. Seems like it's getting to the point of always having to tinker with it to keep it running. I think it's time to sell it!
    Tell Hunter that Brian said HEY!

    Before any haters turn you in to the IRS you might want to give Social Security a call if Hunter gets SSI There are enough naysayers around that would try and screw this up somehow! It's a hell of a world we live in when you have to CYA for something this trivial. Frankly I'd like to see him make a million dollars!

    Not sure if this would save you any time for Hunter's business, but if you know you are going to de-bark the wood, put a log on the wood mizer and then cut lengths with the chainsaw. Split away. That's some nice looking firewood!

  • @MikeZMonroe
    @MikeZMonroe 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m a new viewer. After watching your firewood splitting and stacking process, you might think about a elevated platform to split wood on, then falls down on a sloped stacking station. Platform still elevated enough were you don’t have to bend over to stack. Yes a bit of creative building but it eliminates power elevator and back braking bending over when stacking.

    kinda long but "Hunter's Heartwood" firewood. or "Hunter's All Heartwood" firewood. I also wanted to suggest that when you are sawmilling logs that you take a single thicker slab cut when starting logs. You can then use the slabs to cut into firewood lengths just like the outer shorter slabs you are making here. My dad use to go get slabs at the sawmill for firewood for the house.

    Sure miss hard wood. We burn spruce and birch mostly... The one thing I miss about the east coast... I was raised to never burn any type of pine.... Spuce seems about the same to me but no issues... People hate cotton wood here in AK... I dont mind it on a hot fire..... One more thing as a kid we sold fire wood by the face cord.... That is not heard of up here... full cord and half cord... But no one says face cord.... Good luck on the business Hunter... Our daughter has autism non verbal, she is nine... Wish you did videos on the work it took.... She is an amazing kid...

    I was thinking. Would it make sense to cut the bark off the wood poles with the sawmill prior to splitting. I figure after the bark is removed with the sawmill, you could then cut to length with the chainsaw and then split. As always great video.

    Yeah now I understand why you guys use that kind of a spliter, especially with ridges it has with it, then what some of the other types of spliters, we have used before. But with the much wood you guys process in a year, I can understand that. But good work folks👍

    The name I would suggest for Hunter's business is "Hunterwood". The name does not tie him to any type species of wood, nor any particular use for the wood. So there is lots of room for variety and growth in the business. The name would be easy for him to identify with and what the business product is.

    If that was my log splitter I think I would weld two vertical pieces of 1/4" thick steel bar on the front of the pusher plate, to just clear the forward edge of the cutter edge. This would allow a little over travel that would eliminate the pieces of wood holding together by the tough fibers. Of course you would need to make sure it would clear the four way cutter attachment, or are the four ways set back a little bit from the vertical cutter bar? Or, you could make a removable version so as not to interfere with the four way system.

      I sm also from New Mexico. I can't wait to get my hands on some of that cherry and oak. I have been ordering it from random suppliers. I'd gladly send my money to Hunter instead. 😁

    Would it help to bolt a piece of3/4 plywood to ram of splitter to push wood through farther so you don't have to actually pull it apart?

    I was surprised to hear Hannah say she wanted her dad to teach her to run a chainsaw! I am not sure how enthused her dad is about that, but I will be waiting to see her dressed in gear and ready to cut! I think the 362 would be perfect for her!!

    Do you ever stack your wood in the tepee style it dries faster and rain won't stay long or snow won't stay on it long?

    Oh, man, I am going to be in Walnut Creek, Ohio the same weekend as the Paul Bunyan show. Only about an hour away. I wish I had time to come meet you folks! I am picking up a new United Trailer from Gingerich Trailer in Millersburg. Plus, the wife has a meeting with P. Buckley Moss in Berlin. Don't know if I can slip away for about 4 hours or not.... Anyway, have a super time there, and if you want some great Amish cooking, ride up to Dutch Valley Restaurant in Sugarcreek. Follow route 39 off of I-77 at exit 83. Soooo good!!!!

    Mike, I always meant to ask you, where do you burn all of that firewood? I can't imagine all of that could be burnt in even TWO fireplaces in your home. Do you have a wood burning furnace in your home. I just LOOOOOOOVE that aroma. My Friend's parent's house in Mill Creek, Indiana, had that, and I just loved staying over there. I lived in LaPorte, IN for a year where I met them all.
