I was stationed there 1985 to 1987 maintenance for weapons department. Lived in Fajardo then Ceiba and when I made E-4 moved to on base housing ,was just a kid and did not realize how nice I had it.

I agree with all your comments. I was stationed at the dental clinic from early 73 to Nov of 74. Lived tn el Yunque, went to the Virgin Islands almost every weekend, and surfed Rincon the rest of the time.what an amazing duty station. As far as putting in hotels and condos and all that other crap, good luck! the best laid plans of mice and men...

Was there from 4th - 6th grade in the mid-90s. I watched another video of a dude mountain biking through officers' housing where we lived and memories I hadn't known still existed came flooding back. It was a privilege and a treat to live in such a cool place as a nerdy goofball kid.

I lived in RR, that base was beautiful. It makes me sad to see what has become of it. Why, didn't the PR government didn't have people move there, and take care of the facilities. It had a great hospital, store, airport, ferry port, and everything a towns needs. Why it was let go to sh*t? I'm Boricua, and I'm so ashamed of the way the PR government, and the people does not take care of the island. They sure like to put the flag everywhere but, the truth of the matter is that the island is getting crappy, and crappier by the years.

Pretty much every native I've talked to since the BRAC echoes your sentiments, while the Puerto Ricans I knew that never lived there act like the US Navy was like razing villages or something. Whatever the case, may David Sanes rest in peace.

An obligation. No noises. No war! God requested impeccable nature. Near the Club or higher grounds. No fights, no discussions. Clear minds with one purpose. Low boose, no eccess. Quality of oxygen, for all for Family and friends. Catering food can be arranged. Delivery of produce too. Cleaning and maintenance is our responsibility for each ones house and the community
Kids play with safety. Motivation is needed. And at the end of the day you lay down tired from your age or simply much honey doos! Health clinics must be near. Cute stores must be near. It' s all a commmunty. Beautiful nature is what you can. If not? Tell us why. Confess.a

I'm going to comment something about how this place looks at present time and who's ever don't like it i care less..Some years before when the Roosevelt Road Military Base closed and dismantled all its military equipment and say good bye to P.R.,, a bunch of P. R. politicians celebrated, made noise and talked a lot of bullshit..They said that P.R. government would developed and build tourism resort with hotels,
airport and seaport to bring tourists to la isla and create thousands of new jobs to Ceiba town,,bla, bla, bla and so,so.,, and after all these years have past,,this is what they done in this zone...just plain bullshit,,without that Base,, Ceiba town economical activity slowed down and almost disappeared..

I agree that's so typical of P.R politician mentalities, incompetent and lack of vision and so unrealistic that was predictable of the outcome.

I was there in 1984 / 1985 it was beautiful. Hundreds if not thousands of Puerto Ricans worked there. My buddy Married one of the young ladies who worked at the exchange. I traveled the whole island, people were always so nice where ever I went on the island.
